I am still disappointed in the removal of trench making :C
I'm glad they didn't make the AC-130 pilotable. Because as said earlier, people would suicide with it or the pilot wouldn't work with the gunners and make it hard for them to shoot anything.
I want to play on a server where the game plays like the trailers.
holy shit was that a cargo plane or whatever at like :47
It was a AC-130. Like half the thread is posts about how you can use the guns on it. It's also a spawn point for whoever controls it.
The AC-130 in the killfeed says [GUNSHIP].
Punishing the majority for the stupidity of a few is never a good thing.
True, but if they allowed people to pilot it, they would also be able to circle around the enemy's main base and allow their gunners to spawn kill without end to farm exp and points unless they get kicked. And spawn killing on that scale would ruin the game not only for the other team, but for your teammates as well because they won't have anything to kill and it'll make the game too easy. And shit like that would make people not want to play on the new maps because of it. And there are a lot of people who would probably do that, defiantly during the Double EXP events. I wonder if the AC-130 is just for the US alone or do the Russians have access to it too or have their own version of it?
I wonder if you will slide and shit if you drive on the ice in the snowy map. [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] Do both teams have a gunship, or just one? [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] or does it rotate? [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] or an extra $10?
What a shame, they should had added transport planes. Would be so fucking awesome to have your whole team parachute down.
Punishing the majority for the stupidity of a few is never a good thing.
I think you mean the opposite. 90% of people would either never touch the AC-130 because flying it would be boring or would just suicide bomb it into the ground. Both ways would just fuck over the whole team. It's not worth taking the risk just so that a few people who would actually use it well could use it.
What a shame, they should had added transport planes. Would be so fucking awesome to have your whole team parachute down.
Small transport plane with a rear cargo door and minigun(maybe), flares and a capacity of 6 passengers including the pilot. That would be awesome.
You can clearly see that there are two players in the AC-130, I'm assuming one of them is the pilot.
If I recall correctly in an interview on twitch.tv, one of the devs said that there's no pilot seat because where's the fun in one person always having to just circle around the map the entire time.
FUCKING SOLD!
If I recall correctly in an interview on twitch.tv, one of the devs said that there's no pilot seat because where's the fun in one person always having to just circle around the map the entire time.
Call me weird but I would totally take the pilot seat of an AC-130 and give a couple squad bros on voice chat some good shots.
Call me weird but I would totally take the pilot seat of an AC-130 and give a couple squad bros on voice chat some good shots.
but for every person like you there are 1000 pricks who'll fly away in it with only themselves inside and just crash it into someone or a capture point or people who'll hog it even enemys who'll sneak around and hi-jack it from your base

That scene where there driving up the narrow snowy road almost looks like it could have been a cinematic, or part of the campaign. Pretty badass. Thank god for premium :v:
something tells me the ac130 will enter the field, then people can spawn and shoot for a bit before it leaves to re-fuel, having it circle endlessly would be a bit dumb. I'd buy premium but I played normal recently bf3 and everything was juddering and jerky on a low ping server for me, at release the game ran perfectly, hell even beta worked better.
If I recall correctly in an interview on twitch.tv, one of the devs said that there's no pilot seat because where's the fun in one person always having to just circle around the map the entire time.
I wouldn't mind, after all, you'll get a fuckton of assist scores.
Its a shame i suck at driving vehicle's on Battlefield 3, map does looks great though it was a pretty ballsy move by EA though to add a service like premium after a game has been released, but if they keep up with this level of content i'm sure it will justfiy the £39.99 price.
So the only remaining question is that, how much damage can the AC-130 sustain? Because it will be very easy to hit it with a jet, I can see it beforehand, but then again it has the Defender anti-air Gun so.. Gunners gotta keep eyes peeled.

It's an incredibly massive and slow moving aerial target, it can't maneuver to avoid missiles and it's flairs are on a cool down timer, it's not going to be easy to stay alive for long, and thats the fun in it.

Plus most maps don't have Stationary AA guns at the main base in BF3 and I am guess it will be the same way on the new maps. And there is also the chance that the AC-130 gunners are platooned with two other guys who would fly the F-18s/MiGs and protect them. Whatever they are, DICE/EA has their reasons in making the AC-130 non-pilotable.
I hope the flag that controls the AC-130 is an airfield because Russians having the AC-130 makes no sense
Anyone notice at the end "Pre-order Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition For access to the excluse Battlefield 4 Beta" What the hell?
they already announced it, and they did the same with Medal Of Honor 2010

From reading your post I assume you haven't played BF3 at all. The AA guns are not destructible, and theres one on most of the maps that have air vehicles, you can also spawn directly into them like you would any of the other vehicles. Caspian, firestorm, Oman, Kharg Island, Wake island, and even on Damavand, the attackers get an AA gun. There is literally no way a jet or any other airvehicle can spawn rape as long as you're not a fucking retard. Even if somehow fail to take it down with an AA gun, you can still use a soflam and javelin combo, co-ordinate with a team mate and stinger it out of the sky. Theres more than enough solutions to air vehicles, not being able to kill the AC-130 isn't a justifiable reason in my eyes.

And with the SOFLAM and Javelin combo, those things are extremely rare on most servers. Now to get off the AC-130 debate before it turns into a flame war. I wonder how the new Armored Superiority game mode is going to play?
