I don't want HL3 for the gun-play. I thought the gunplay of HL2, Ep. 1, and Ep. 2 was kind of boring. But the story was incredible.
I've always appreciated Valve for their story development, technology, and level design. I usually hate your average run n' gun get from A to B games; but even though Half-Life 1, 2, and the episodic content are exactly like that, they've been done in such a good way that it disguises those key factors.
I liked the gameplay of HL back then when I first played it. But I've milked every single enjoyment out of the gameplay through mods and stuff. I hope they do something a tad bit new for EP3.
My favourite thing in HL2 was that, due to the lack of cutscenes, the game took place almost in real time. As you went on your adventure, the time changed accordingly, and it really felt like you were accomplishing stuff. Rather then have each level broken up by a story cutscene or just transporting you to a new level, The linear style of progress really felt dynamic and rewarding.
with boring gameplay probably maybe we'll get one new enemy and one new weapon too. definitely worth creaming yourself on a daily basis for 5+ consecutive years for
Boring? There are new complete games that are worse than Ep2 in every way. Games that cost alot more.
