Very requiem im pace AC style indeed.
You haven't played the actual game.
neither have you
It's kind of hard to make the majority of the gaming audience care about a stealth game if you see him just sneaking around. That's why most of the trailers are full of action. I'm going to assume the stealth option is perfectly intact and there is still a Silent Assassin award for every level.
I don't get this. It's a relatively sound theory but there still hasn't been a single shred of evidence for it, and there's been trailer after trailer showing the exact opposite. I don't get how you can look at all the trailers and go 'I'm sure this is a stealth game'
I'm not saying it's wrong, I just don't understand how you can think that at this stage
What's your point?
that it is a dumb thing to say
[editline]30th May 2012[/editline]
people should be more critical to games and not hype them
You haven't played the actual game.
You are right, those leather half-nude nuns are totally not a tipoff.
that it is a dumb thing to say
Not at all. He's telling the other guy to reserve his judgement of the game until he played it. How is "well you haven't played it either" a response to that?
I want this
Thats a pretty cool trailer, but where's the hitman part?
Could just as well have been a Saints Row trailer
They want to sell the game to the same people that bought MW, of course there's sex involved. But that doesn't mean the game won't have stealth. It's just an option they haven't shown yet, because they want to make money.
Right, they are going to make money by not showing it off?
Not at all. He's telling the other guy to reserve his judgement of the game until he played it. How is "well you haven't played it either" a response to that?
if i reserved judgement until i played it i would be broke
i'm not going to make assumptions about the finished game or say that they're ruining an old series or anything like that
but that trailer was fucking dumb
if i reserved judgement until you played it i would be broke
Yeah, alright. Bad wording. Until the game is out, when there are reviews and whatnot. Or a demo. Point still stands.
gaming journalism is a joke
What a brilliant response

If they follow their fanbase at all they must know that there is a large amount of worry from the trailers not showing hardly any stealth. A reasonable move would be to release just a few minuets of gameplay showing the stealth side of the game.
Instead they seem to be pretty much ignoring all the discontent which isn't a very good sign.
Why is Hitman always killing the chicks.
Couldn't he had fucked them first.

You have to remember that PR guys seem to be fucking idiots for the most part right now. Going for the money and controversy rather than pleasing the fanbase.
But then again, when the fanbase are already crying about there being "no stealth" when there is still very little actual gameplay out. Can you blame them? Hitman isn't a "stealth" game in the sense that you have to be stealthy. It's just a game about planning and performing assassinations and shit. It's a game of choice. You could very well sneak into the place, kill the guy you need to quietly and leave. Bam, done. Or, you could go into the place, kill a few guys to make your job easier, then leave. Or you could just go in and slaughter the fuck out of everything, making your job harder to start with, but easier in the long run.
So far we have only really seen one gameplay trailer. And the guy playing that seemed to be going for the second option I listed. Killing a few guys that were in his way to make getting around the other easier. Still perfectly stealthy. He wasn't run and gunning through hordes of enemies. He was taking out people in the way quietly for the most part. But just watching that trailer, the player has tons of choices on how to get about. Stealthy options were there, the guy demoing it just didn't pick them for the sake of showing more features off. He could have probably escaped from that library without touching a single police officer.
Every other piece of media I have seen is CGI, so that doesn't count towards what the game is going to be at all. Fuck, you are all being imbeciles over this (then again, most of Facepunch usually do the same thing for every game when there are minor changes to the formula).
Just one trailer showcasing stealth to its fullest extent would probably sate the fandom's worries.
They did.

And its Arkham City: Now with chest high walls, linear paths and scripted segments. Though to be fair the first level of Blood Money wasn't that different. But hell its wishful thinking.
I'm really not seeing any stealth in any of the trailers, this is rather worrying.
I'm definitely ok with this trailer for some reason.
Can't put my finger on why though.
Good thing 47 is an asexual clone...
maybe it's meant to show how much the bad guys can get away with, like they control so much of the media they can kill you with a squad of battle-nuns and nobody will be any the wiser, or maybe 47 was staying in a hotel in the Bible Belt and they needed a disguise or something
probably just rule of cool
You misunderstand. I don't have anything against women attacking him, or women dressed as nuns to hide attack him.
My problem are those latex suits which are pretty much impossible to move in well and attract too much attention.

I doubt the pr guys think that pissing off the fanbase is a good finical decision. The trailer you mentioned did have stealth elements but seemed very liner, which could have been a single level design but I don't think that would be a primary focus of their pr campaign.
Also regardless if its a CGI trailer it does seem to fit with the action gameplay we have been seeing.

i can put my finger on it
it's my dick
It looks like another action stealth game like conviction despite the fact that their fan base want a hitman game not a generic action stealth game.

It seemed linear because it was quite linear. There is nothing else to it. Linear is not bad though. If executed right linear works well. For example, the later levels of say, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Technically linear as all hell, corridor based mazes. But there are small side paths to take to either avoid conflict, or get the jump on enemies instead of rush head first into a wall of lead death.
The gameplay trailer didn't show it, but I expect there are multiple possible ways to get around the patrolling officers, the way the trailer shows was probably one of the most noticeable ones, but I'd expect some form of alternate routes by getting as high as possible in the level, etc. Linear doesn't mean one path and one path only. You need to get this description of it out of your head. Linear just means one goal, direction to go, but most certainly not one path.
Still not going to count CGI trailers as they aren't representative of gameplay. They are just there to pull crowds.
dlc mission

What is a "hitman" game? Last I checked "hitman" was not a genre. It was a series. If you are going to make comparisons like this, describe it by genre. Hitman is a action stealth game if you choose it to be. It's also an action game, a stealth game and such if you chose it to be. It's more than one hard type of game. It's a game of choice.
The gameplay we've seen has just been going down the action stealth route as it's appealing to newer players, and still shows the game as it can be represented.
