What is a "hitman" game? Last I checked "hitman" was not a genre. It was a series. If you are going to make comparisons like this, describe it by genre. Hitman is a action stealth game if you choose it to be. It's also an action game, a stealth game and such if you chose it to be. It's more than one hard type of game. It's a game of choice. The gameplay we've seen has just been going down the action stealth route as it's appealing to newer players, and still shows the game as it can be represented.
It was still mostly orientated around stealth and choice, for the most part this game is looking to be about hiding behind walls and killing guards with very little choice as in how to go through it. And don't get me started on those stupid special abilities they've shoved into it so 12 year olds don't get stuck.

But it's not like they will force you to use it. Honestly? Just wait until we see more actual gameplay trailers. If any future ones show no stealth options at all, then cool, your ranting might have been right. But I really doubt the developers have gone back on the formula so much that there is no stealth option at all. Killing a few people to make your life easier has always been something you could do. Why berate them for showing it now? As said multiple times, a trailer of straight stealth wouldn't pull the crowds as much.
I'm trying to keep an open mind, but i have seen nothing but action, action, more action, hitman arkham city, and action. All of their marketing has shown barely any stealth. Hell, even the "YOU ARE 47, A MASTER ASSASSIN" trailer has 47 just straight up walk up to people and start shooting and butchering people with axes and machetes and things. Of course, the gameplay could be entirely different to every single piece of media they're shown thus far. That's possible, but very unlikely in my opinion.
Yeah, the whole level with the cops and shit seems more like DX:HR "crouch-walk behind obstacles" stealth than the traditional Hitman "Choke a guy and steal his clothes" stealth

Hey remember when games were meant to be fun and not just realistic? Neither do I.
Hey guys, remember that level in Hitman 2 where you were fighting girls dressed in bikinis that were carrying guns? Or how pretty much every female that wasn't old was sexualized to the max in Blood Money? Yeah, there you go.
They all were in context tho.
They all were in context tho.
Every female being as sexualized as possible wasn't.
Aww come on he just changed that suit!
Hey remember when games were meant to be fun and not just realistic? Neither do I.
No one is complaining about realism, people are complaining that they've taken out one of the core factors of the games, which was the cool stealth oriented gameplay where you had a variety of ways to kill your mark rather than just bursting in and shooting him.
We've had one playthrough of the first tutorial mission which is supposed to be fully scripted and linear.
Yeah but all of the trailers have revolved around action, not a single one has hinted at any real stealth. They really need to show off some stealth gameplay, hopefully they will this E3
It's an awesome trailer, but fuck, it that's how the game is going to be then I'm out.
it's not 'stealth' i want to see; it's some hint of the open-nature of the game and making your own plans to carry out the hits i must have played the vegas mission in blood money like 10 times or something. i worked out so many different ways you could do it. my favourite was pulling the fire alarm to get guards away from one quarry's room, getting inside, killing that quarry, then using his phone to call the second quarry to a spot where i can shoot him from the room i'm in because so far all i've seen is dxhr crouching and shit cgi trailers
make no fucking sense, but looks cool

This is kind of why the special ability thing worries me since it looks as though the game is going to direct players to much.
Really all they'd have to do is one of "choices" trailers rpgs and action rpgs do. Put a quick one to two minute segment of gameplay and go through two or three of the ways to get through it.

I'm just saying lets not jump the gun before some good reviewers get their hands on it (considering they will be able to play it before us), and hear their verdict. It's way too early to judge anything.
I don't like how every thread about this game turns into a massive shit feast. "Hitman: Conviction, lol, where's the stealth, lol?" People have this strange fixation in their heads that tells them "Hitman has always been a stealth oriented game". No, not really, Hitman has never been a game that is telling you to be stealthy. Hitman has always been about the choice of doing things YOUR way. You either kill just your target and sneak past everyone else, or you kill everyone that comes in your way. The manners you use to get the job done have never been the point of Hitman games, the point has always been that you get the job done one way or another. If this weren't the case, the game would give you considerable penalties if you kill too many people during a mission. Yes, the game grades you by your performance in the end, but that doesn't really mean anything, because you gain nothing from it. Of course, the game has that certain intriguing aspect of being the "Silent Assassin" on every mission, but again, this has always been the players own personal objective and it has no real connection to the game. Get over yourselves and stop with the stupid shit. So far this has looked like any other Hitman game except for 47's new psychic powers.

It seems as though they are going on the straight and narrow level design, not giving the player the ability to choose how to plan an assassination or escape. People are not saying it has no stealth in it, it obviously does, but not the same type of stealth gameplay in earlier games. I hate to use this completely overused comparison but it is very much like what happened to Conviction, it had stealth in it, but not in the way the earlier games had. I don't understand what the hell else we are suppose to discuss when the trailer is reinforcing that negative perception of it.
I actually have a thing for sexy latex clad nurses of all races, brandishing weapons while getting killed by a bio-engineered bald hitman.

Now how much stealth was there really in the older ones? it was mostly standing next to a door opening it too see if the patrol has passed and finding and taking the best clothes to get access to all areas. I might remember wrong. I love the hitman games though

I can't wait for this heaping pile of shit to fail. Way to kill another cool series with your modernized action gameplay.
They did. And its Arkham City: Now with chest high walls, linear paths and scripted segments. Though to be fair the first level of Blood Money wasn't that different. But hell its wishful thinking.
Thought it looked quite cool. Only thing I found different was the linearity towards the end.
Hey guys, remember that level in Hitman 2 where you were fighting girls dressed in bikinis that were carrying guns? Yeah, there you go.
I remember in Blood Money when one of the Witness Protection guards was upstairs in the daughter's bedroom sniffing her panties. :v: He even said, "There's sugar between those knees."
I'm mostly worried how they will handle the overall enviornment design of the game Best part about Blood Money that made it such an incredible game, was just the huge variety of levels you played through. You'd literally go from a bannanna republic farm, to an opera house, to a casino, to a christmas party on a playboy mansion on top of a goddamn colorado snowy mountain, to marti gras, to a goddamn nightclub that was themed heaven and hell, and one of which was on the top floor of a skyscraper and the other was in the deep basement levels. It was so brilliant and creative, that half the fun was discovering where you'd go next. The level design was excellent too - very open ended, with many different solutions to a simple problem - kill the target, get out, don't get caught. If they just turn this into grimdark batman spinoff, where each level just takes you to the next linear area from the previous one, this game will be a failure in the eyes of blood money - almost universally hailed as the best Hitman game ever made.
I hope you don't mean the library level when you say "narrow level design", because that's like saying the carnival level in Blood Money had narrow level design.
I am talking about the library and the other glimpses at other levels we have seen. Everything that have released so far seems to be in tune with the action stealth type gameplay we saw in the library level.
