If you're going to try and tell me that you're going to assume a role in developing games and see nothing wrong with having your game make people physically ill, then get the hell out of the industry.

Don't bother making anything first person then please
so your ignorance does not get in the way of someone's enjoyment of their "Art" :v:
The game looks neat, but I can already tell I hate that announcer.

And please, point out where any of us claimed that gaming is part of our "personal identity".
For some one who seems to hate "gaming elitists", you're certainly pretty snobby and self righteous yourself.

If you define yourself as a "gamer" it is part of your identity. Anyway, this discussion is about FoV, and my argument is that only a big nerd would sit close enough to the screen for that to be a problem, and at that point it's their own fault.

I'm am at the biggest loss for words right now.
Seriously.
Wow.
I'm an artist, not a gamer
Meaning I care about how the artwork is presented
Hopefully they'll be banning anybody who does that
Because it does give an unfair gameplay advantage at the cost of appealing visuals
even if you think that the presentation of the game should have higher priority than it being comfortable to play, overwatch is meant to be a competitive multiplayer fps so people aren't really being 'entitled nerds' in wanting to change the fov and have 60fps. it's pretty standard fare. and I have no idea where you're getting all this gamer identity stuff from
Edit:
pretty sure this guy is just baiting

Lmao where and for whom do you work for because it's probably an indie mod team and if it's not, you're a plague on the industry.
You're playing Overwatch, a game with a cartoony style where you can play as an intelligent gorilla or a literal viking dwarf in a nonsensical sci-fi universe but if you want to change an option in the settings you're a big nerd!!! If you're a fucking game designer you sit behind a computer screen all day, so you are, in fact, also a big nerd.
only a big nerd would sit close enough to the screen for that to be a problem, and at that point it's their own fault.
I cannot move far from my screen as it is on the same table as my mouse and keyboard.
If you have a wall mounted screen or a lapdesk then good for you but that would make you the big nerd instead.

That's what controllers are for.

I didn't know common desk monitor to eye distance is "being a big nerd and sitting close to the screen".
You also need to factor in the size of a monitor too, a higher FoV is better on a 27 - 32" monitor at common distance comparing to a 17-21". It's also what you're comfortable with.
And about your complaint about how things are stretched and shit on the sides earlier: your eyesight is natually already like that (though not as excessive of what games do), we don't pay attention to it. The point is that if I am looking at an INTERACTIVE GAME in the first person, I'm focusing whats in front of me, not what is directly at pixel 1846x902 on a 1080p monitor.
That's what controllers are for.
Even though you're all the way in Sweden, I can hear your brain cells just screaming out in pain as you type this crap.
I don't even think it'd be worth explaining that not all games work with controllers, or whatever. You'll find someway of "invalidating" any argument sent your way.

Fucking hell man, are you going to tell us that fov sliders are "problematic" next?

I just want to thank you for showing me once again how true the never argue with stupid people saying is. Holy shit dude, if you are even remotely sincere in anything you wrote here, I hope whatever game you are working on sinks lower than Titanic.
I'm ok with the current FOV but I totally understand why some people don't like it and that they should totally add a slider.
I'm going to make a shitty unity game with a 20 degree field of view that forces you to render it in 800x600 because it's ~~artistic~~, you need to respect my professional artist opinions
Well this thread derailed quickly. Since the troll is banned let's talk about the video in question.
Looks really good, like the early TF2 I loved with some extra bells and whistles.
I still think whatever Hanzo says when he does his ultimate sounds hilarious. But I'm looking forward to the Reinhardt, Winston and Bastion videos, assuming they'll do them. In everyone one of these videos so far, it's always looked like Reinhardt and Winston were having a hard time. And I just want to see Bastions new ultimate, since that mine thing is no longer it.

Even with Torbjorn being the most shamelessly "inspired by TF2" character so far, he seems pretty fun. Engineer was my favorite TF2 class, so he seems right up my alley.
I was surprised to see how effective he was without his turret in straight up combat.

This is mainly why I'm interested in this game, because it looks like early TF2 but with it's own style and without all the retarded shit TF2 has now. TF2 was great when it first came out and with each update it's moved further away from that in my opinion, so it will be nice to go back to that core gameplay but with a new set of characters instead.
I don't get how making the view models and UI take up nearly 80% of the screen space was ever considered good idea.
Watching the Reaper gameplay all I'm thinking about is how many times I'm going to be killed because someone on the sides of my screen is completely concealed by my giant ass weapons
I still kinda feel this game has a really generic sort of Dreamwork's "quirky" style that really turns me off.
Just like some people are "genuinely" unable to play at anything below 60fps
Stop playing for a while and suddenly you don't notice any of that stuff

(User was banned for this post ("trölling" - Orkel))
1- Low FOV settings CAN give people headaches no matter how much they play of it (1 minute or 1 hour, they can't play it at all)
2- Below 60 fps is very VERY noticeable, and a 60 fps average is too low a standard for some games since performance dips might take it lower and you might suffer from it really badly, like having your game ruined.
I know you're trolling, but this goes for anyone who says otherwise.
By the way, my PC was a bit over 600 euros almost 10 years ago and it can still play this extremely well, despite being heavily outdated even when I bought it.
i want to play this but if they want to be better than tf2 then really try at it with the future in mind, i feel they should
-48 player max
-more options for sentries to choose/equip from even one you can ride or use(cool game modes)
-maybe a little drop ship that can hold 3 people or mini tractor that can hold 4 people and you can fire from...this would could start some cool game modes too

And if you did care you'd know that a tasteful crop is much better than needlessly leaving a lot of unnecessary fluff around the frame. Why aren't all movies filmed with a 12mm lens? Because different lenses are good for different things and filming dialogue with a 50mm lens looks much more natural and pleasing.
Next Phil Fish is here guys.

48 players will most likely never happen.
Think they are forcing the "1 unique character per team" thing, instead of like, having 4 different Reapers or 3 different Torbjorns.

Nope, no character duplication limit on teams, can be 6 tracers if all want to play her.

huh, thought I saw something saying the opposite. Well that should be better then I guess.
If he's a game developer he wont last five seconds before backlash occurs on any of his projects. It'll be an open and shut "developer abuses fans and ignores constructive crit" case.
