Rich people don't buy insurance since they would rather pay in the event that something bad actually happens, and never pay a dime if nothing happens. It's the ultimate high-deductible/low-premium plan, especially since insurance for cars like these are ridiculously, ridiculously, ridiculously expensive. Is it worth paying $10,000 for a 6-month insurance plan in case someone keys your door that costs a few hundred to get repaired? The risk is getting in a wreck. And then you're rich so you don't give a fuuuuuuucckkk
FYI since I'm guessing you don't own a car, it's a legal requirement to have car insurance in basically every developed country. It seems like a few places in the US let you pay massive upfront fees, but I'm not 100% on how those work and whether you can get that everywhere. Wikipedia seems to indicate that it's only a few. If you drive/park your car in public without insurance here you get a very hefty fine and a mandatory jail sentence if you're caught doing it again within a year.

Now, as to why he thinks rich people wouldn't do that, I haven't the foggiest of clues. Rich people absolutely buy insurance, and they buy the best kinds of insurance too. They just will settle privately in most situations. But the insurance they have saves them from being sued literally millions of dollars in third party liability. I don't know who the fuck told cloud_strife about insurance, but they were wrong.
Well at least in the Netherlands I know that rich people are buying insurance especially. Car-insurance to cover damages towards other peoples property and person and obligated here. You can then choose two more levels of insurance: - WA+ (which covers damage others do to your car, and in some cases damage due to weather, fire etc.) - Full Casco (which covers even damage you do to your own car) They come with different costs ofcourse, but I many middleclass people still insure their cars "Full Casco". This is even more present for people that have really expensive cars. Don't forget that for instance where a new Mercedes S63 AMG starts from $140.000 in America, it starts at $213.000 in the Netherlands. Purely because of environmental tax that we have. That's a crazy amount of money for property that most people get rid of after 2 or 3 years. People really insure themselves up the ass. I drive an Audi A4 Avant S-Line 2.0TDI that I bought secondhand, except for that it cost $80.000 new. It's worth 2/3th of what it was now, but I'll gladly insure it even for damage that I do personally.
Just did a little more research on the dude - he legitimately owns the car. An '06 Lambo isn't all that expensive if you have stellar credit and a steady job with little to no overhead at home. Go ahead, give Lamborghini of Newport Beach a call at 714-617-9807 and ask if they sold their '06 Gallardo in early October, they will confirm. In this video at 4:44, you can see the temporary dealer reg taped to the back of the window.

It's absolutely illegal to drive without insurance, and an accident with personal injury could bankrupt nearly anyone.
Why would you even want a lamborghini?
I have a tiny dick.
thanks for the info
Why would you even want a lamborghini?
Because they look cool, they're probably nice af to drive (I've never driven one, so don't take my word on it), and they're a massive status symbol. The only problems with them is that they usually get vandalled to hell and back and it draws shit tons of attention from random people who will literally knock on your window to make some comment about your car.
Why would you even want a lamborghini?
Seems like the go to manufacturer for bragging on youtube
Why would you even want a lamborghini?
Why do you even want Apple devices? Same reason the guy wants a Lambo probably. They're not the cheapest, or the best per sé. They're just 'nice' in the eyes of the owners.
I personally don't want a lambo but if I had the cash I'd buy a status symbol car in no time. If I got the money, I think I deserve a car I feel is cool.

Technically you do not "need" insurance.
As a person who sells insurance, you're wrong. Rich people buy insurance all the fucking time. Especially on their high end cars. The higher the deductible, the more money you save. Your rates will go up over time if you file tons of small claims, and the insurance company will cost more than paying out of pocket.
Why would you even want a lamborghini?
More fuel cells for your knowledge
I believe he could buy it at 26, but probably was a stupid idea to spend money on that.
well you have to give the DMV 35 grand in the state of california if you don't want to pay for insurance
Damn that's cheap, in Texas you have to give your local Judge 50k if you don't want to pay for insurance.
I could see someone like that buying a car. I could probably get one myself if I actually wanted one with any sort of passion, but naturally not over night. As mentioned before in the thread if he lives at home, doesn't pay rent, doesn't pay bills, has a $30,000 a year retail job, saves all his money and has good credit he could probably buy a used one. If he does other odd jobs, has a higher paying job or an extra source of income than all the better. With a good retail job assuming he saves all his cash or spends a very small amount of it he could have it paid off in 4-5 years if he's responsible as fuck. Which isn't a crazy long car payment either. I looked it up and you can get that lambo from $85k - $120k which is expensive as fuck for one car if you ask me but it's realistically do-able for someone.
Since the comments are getting a little crazy, I'll provide some details for you. I earned every dollar put towards that Gallardo myself. I'll admit my college tuition is paid for, and that definitely helps! I'm very fortunate for that. If you look at my LinkedIn you'll see I worked as a paid engineering intern for both Ford and Toyota. Both netted a good amount of money ($20+/hr and overtime ads up). I also made a good deal of money private academic tutoring (people pay up to $50/hr and sometimes more). These along with investing in stocks (I was able to get a lucky 60% return on TSLA) helped substantially. Another component is Vehicle Virgins. This YouTube channel makes a lot more than most youtube comments are assuming as we are getting 100,000 views per day. (This is about the same as TheSmokingTire who has almost 500k subs). Originally I didn't think I needed to get into great detail but perhaps I'll make a new video outlining things more clearly. The stuff listed is not comprehensive theres more to it but thats the gist. Yes I essentially spent all of my money on this car. I'm a car guy and it was a dream of mine. As a rising senior mechanical engineering student at the University of Michigan with a high GPA, I felt confident in my job opportunities after graduation. Was it the smartest decision? Absolutely not. But I'm glad I did it. Thank you.•
[hd]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk9qWmdwdyY[/hd] this guy owned a gallardo at 20
