I guess you haven't played that many mmos then vedi.
are there any MMOs with built in VC? you'd have to go out of your way to encounter that sort of thing. but no, i don't play many [editline]28th June 2013[/editline] sil, in that case you should make yourself more clear. I basically explained your points for you if that was the case because i did not get that at all from what you said
god he is fucking insufferable U BETTER BE GLAD U ARENT DEBATING MY BRO. U SURE U WANT TO DO THIS???? this "debate" is just gonna turn into him constantly interrupting her/silencing her and being a dick to her to prove his "point" and be "funny"
Did you even watch the video? He is trying to protect her from the flood of idiots known as the youtube comment section. We all know it's gonna happen because the youtube comments of gaming related videos is ruled by the 13 year old demographic.
you're not getting this at all an artist or musician who produces art for a living and describes himself as an "artist" is normal, as is someone who plays football for a living someone who plays video games as a hobby in their spare time and describes himself as a "gamer" is weird yeh if i met someone and they said "hey i'm dave. i'm a movie aficionado" i'd think "wow what a weirdo", just the same as i'd think if i saw someone on facebook or in person or whatever talking about themselves with the descriptor of "gamer" [editline]28th June 2013[/editline] my name is chestymcgee and i am a student (because that is my occupation) and i guess i'm also a freelance illustrator. that is how i'd describe myself. i also sometimes play video games and watch films and enjoy beer but i'm not a "gamer" or "filmer" or a "beererrer"
I get paid to do art (wide range) for several companies, but I don't call myself an artist. I used to play competitive BF2 and Halo 2 & 3, earning endorsements and such, but I didn't call myself a gamer. I organize car meets, drives, and track days, but I don't call myself a driver. Defining yourself as such is stupid because it takes away from who you are by narrowing it down and bottling up behind one word. As for this debate, the video is funny and i'm not sure how to take it: as satire or in seriousness. Because of my previous statements I don't see why anyone would use gender along with a title of "gamer" because of the wide variety of good and ridiculous people who do so as well. I don't know if I have a point with any of this to be honest, and this is my opinion on the matter, not a statement of facts.
Yeah but then why don't we attack male "attention whores" similarly? People don't look at PewDiePie or whatever and say "omg what stupid guy gamer" and use him as a stereotype to represent all guys who play videogames. There's way more of those guys than there are "gamer gurls", yet we aren't stereotyped to the extent girls who play videogames are. Like, I'm not denying people like the reply girls exist but by getting up in arms and making dumb rant videos about them you just give them the attention they want.
tbh i do say "stupid fucking guy gamers" in relation to dsp
You really think it's THAT weird?
uh it's not THAAAAATT weird (if you want to add your own exaggerations to my post by adding random capital letters) but i still think defining yourself as almost anything other than your occupation is pretty weird... but defining yourself by your occupation is still weird in itself. you and your actions and your persona should be able to speak to itself. i'm not insecure enough to feel i need a one-word explanation to identify myself with
And you can only call yourself an artist or musician if you do it for a living? Are you serious?
if you're forced to introduce yourself and define yourself with a title then yes i would pick what i make my living off or at least do for the majority of my time eg: "i am an it technician" "i make video games" "i am an artist" "i am a secretary" etc not "i am a gamer (which means in my spare time i partake in a particular entertainment past time)"
movie buffs watch movies much more often than the standard moviegoer, and they often study cinema as well. Movies become an important part of their life, and they start investing a lot of energy - and money - into studying film. Most movie buffs also look to formulate some sort of career out of their work, or otherwise begin to produce out of their hobbies. Hideo Kojima, for instance, used his obsession with cinema in order to create the Metal Gear series. But many other film fans simply go into camera work, indie directing, etc.
this is all well and true but 99% of people you meet will not fit this at all. most people who consider themselves 'movie buffs' watch some films and talk about them with friends. most 'gamers' play skyrim and talk about it on reddit. regardless, labeling yourself with a hobby like that is still pretty meaningless and shallow. wow you can
have fine-tuned favourites
and
acquire a certain sort of taste/critical focus
without being a 'gamer' as defined by elitist internet forums. guess what? all those bros who play FIFA and CoD can have exactly what you described and yet internet communities like facepunch spend their time bashing regular people like that as not being "tru gam3rs" the whole mentality here is hypocritical and generally pathetic
the only grill gamer I met online was george foreman
