That still doesn't make sense. How were you only level 8 when you were half way through the game? That's what Im trying to figure out. Because it seems you skipped every possible sidequest, every non-essential enemy and haven't explored anything whatsoever, simply doing main-quests only. Im not saying it's impossible for you or others to dislike the game, but usually when you pay 60 dollars for a product how about trying your best to get your monies worth?
While playing Borderlands 2, around level 8 is when I got bored of the game and was when I had to start forcing myself to play. I thoroughly explore the maps, and I do all the sidequests, I'm roughly level 20 now, with 18.5 hours of gameplay. Forced gameplay. Completely bored, dull gameplay that I forced myself to play because the game cost me $60. The only reason I can bare any more borderlands 2 is hopes that I'll hear more Handsome Jack lines. That's it. That's all that entertains me in this entire game, is Handsome Jack.
I said I got bored at level 8. I continued playing the game because I fucking paid 60 bucks for it and I tried to get my money's worth out of it. I wasn't SAYING your opinion was wrong, or that mine was the ultimate correct opinion that everyone should follow. I was just saying that you trying to invalidate my opinion by saying I didn't play the game was wrong.
but my first comment wasn't aimed at you.
It was satisfying but having to open every single fucking thing, like 8 lockers in a row, and shit like that just go really repetitive and tedious.
also, the imagery of yahtzee using a vacuum to open chests and pick up items (the "holding x" thing) makes me believe that Luigi's Mansion wrote the future of Borderlands gameplay
Love how he didn't get the reason why that strong ass robot died so fast, [sp]It was a planned trap you fuckwad, jack wanted you to kill him so you would put the trojan'd power thingy in sanctuary[/sp]
but my first comment wasn't aimed at you.
Felt like your post was saying "Everyone who doesn't love Borderlands 2 obviously didn't play it!!" so yeah, it kinda was.
i disagree with borderlands 2 "being oriented to coop" i played BOTH borderlands 1 and 2 alone and im having soo much fun
Felt like your post was saying "Everyone who doesn't love Borderlands 2 obviously didn't play it!!" so yeah, it kinda was.
no i meant that everyone was comparing it to bl1 when it is literally a completely different game with similar play style.
Play with friends. Then it's great fun
This is such a tired and poor excuse for a boring game - hanging out with no entertainment at all can be fun with friends, it's not the game that's fun. Sure, some games get better with friends but taking a shitty game and inserting a friend does not mean the game is good
I don't enjoy it with other players, but I feel it's my own failing: I just take it all too seriously I think. I can't help being bothered by feeling over/underpowered compared to my co-op friends, I feel like I'm being tugged along when they want to rush through areas where I prefer to explore and make sure I got the sidequests done, I'll check every weapon and item in case it's marginally better where they will completely ignore anything not in a chest, and some things that are.' I've not enjoyed a single boss battle. For example, during the last time I played it, we fought [sp]Bloodwing[/sp] and it was painfully awful. Considering the pace we were getting through and my frustration at not having time to explore as it is, the set-pieces really needed to be on form and it just wasn't there. The rest have been more of the same. It's a shame as I do get a good laugh out of a lot of the humour and references in hindsight, but it's so much tedium to push through the game that when we get to these events I just can't enjoy them at the time.
I can't say I've played Borderlands 2, but I played Borderlands one and I'm not sure what it was about it, but I really just couldn't force myself to play past a certain point and I didn't feel like I should. Wouldn't really want to try Borderlands 2 in case it's just more of the same.
I hate that you can't track multiple quests, that's a good point. Do a quest, go back and turn it in and realize that you just missed three others in the same area. He also has a good point about opening each individual chest, while I disagree with putting them in one large trough. I think the devs should have done something where holding E opens multiple chests just like grabbing all the ammo in a chest.
Luckily that's nothing you can't fix in an update. If people ask them about it enough, maybe they'll do it.
My only complaint is that they used DX9(Right?).
I agree with many of Yahtzee's points, especially the looting. The stop and start analogy was spot on. I got bored around level 15, and couldn't be bothered to play any more after the game glitched and a quest item got stuck in the ground that I couldn't get to.
terrible game
I have a feeling I would agree with most of his points if I hadn't had so much fun playing with a friend. Most of the boredom in raiding bandit camps is absolved when you are doing it co-op in my opinion.
i feel like total biscuit addressed this really well in one of his videos any game is fun in coop. it can be the worst game ever but you and a friend (or friends) making fun of it / talking with each other is what is entertaining, not the game itself borderlands was a terrible and empty game. so was L4D 1 and 2. i bought them all months after release when none of my friends were playing them anymore and was forced to play them by myself. games designed around coop tend to suck since developers don't realize it isn't the game being fun it is the social interaction that is

If you're not working together with others, you're missing a large part of the game, which is why it's boring when you play by yourself.
terrible game
It's called opinions, maybe you've heard of it.
It is a fun game, sometimes it does get frustrating when you lose money when you die but hunting loot and leveling up is the aim.
i for one enjoy borderlands 2 (im playing it right now) you people eat yahtzee's shit up too much
The point of the easy robot fight just completely flew over his head. Did he just stop playing right there? Because it explains it literally five minutes later.
It is a fun game, sometimes it does get frustrating when you lose money when you die but hunting loot and leveling up is the aim.
If I was bothered by this, I wouldn't own Dark Souls.
If I was bothered by this, I wouldn't own Dark Souls.
I have Dark Souls for the PS3 but it cost an HDTV.
I think he's right about the game's pace and grindiness. It just comes down to how some people actually enjoy that style of gameplay. In both cases I enjoyed it through about 75% of the game and then became pretty tired of it.
I'll agree that it didn't do much new from the first Borderlands. That said, it took everything from the first Borderlands and made it better. Pretty much literally everything. Gunplay, movement, level design, characters, story, writing, skills, graphics, audio. It's just a really tightly tuned experience. Complaints about guns being boring to fire flew right over my head as a reminisced to my Gunzerker wielding a triple-barreled rotary assault rifle that fired explosive rounds in one hand with an electric rocket launcher in the other. I've beaten the game twice as Salvador and working through it as Axton right now. Most of my time (about 70%) has been spent alone. But so far clocked in 89 hours and it's definitely the most fun game I've played all year.
right but the whole "friends make even shit gold" means it is really hard to judge how good the game actually is.
Play with randomers. If it's fun with complete strangers it's probably a good game.
bland ass gun play
oh right bland, especially compared to Battlefield of Duty Modern Honor with it's tacticool M16's.
Borderlands 2 would be better if every enemy wouldn't take like an entire mag to kill and every enemy you fight wouldn't be just a bigger or higher health version of the same 4-5 enemies and if you didn't spent 60% of the time finding random weapons and wondering "hmm this weapon has higher stat 1 but lower stat 2 and the same stat 3 which one should I take" and then when you do pick one it turns out is shit and now takes 2 mags to kill one enemy.
and i agree with yahtzee that it is just a game filled with annoying characters with bland ass gun play
The gunplay in BL2 gods recent gift to gaming compared to what we have seen before. You know. COD/BF games where you hold one assault rifle and one pistol.
