Dear god that journalist is a prick.
How does it feel to be talking about it now?
"Well it's embarrassing, uncomfortable, nothing I'm proud of that's for damn sure. But I did it."
Good, now sit still while I bother you about it and stare at you with the filthiest look I can make.
The journalist is not a prick, this is normal interviewing. His questions are not too invasive and are questions the the audience are interested in knowing. Besides, they mention that the individuals are actually mad he is only interviewing a small percentage.

I think theroux is mostly too forceful, but he manages to get to the core of what is happening, which in journalism is all that counts.

and what is the core of what is happening? because the only thing i got from this was that he doesn't like pedophiles, and their treatment/imprisonment/rehabilitation is a sticky issue. not exactly a newsflash, or something id consider particularly informative.
He acts really annoying and pretentious.
I honestly don't mind him. He sort of acts like an asshole to some of these people but whenever he does he forces them to give a REAL response and not just be polite.
"Seven or more orgasms a week over an extended period of time..."
Uh oh

Guh. With a subject so embarrassing and awkward the levels of bullshit roundabout talk are so high although the patients seem a lot more frank about it than the staff do.
Notice how they all have beards.
No they don't

That doctor bitch. It takes a fucking annoying person to have a documentary about a building full of pedophiles and she's the one I want to kick in the face.
This isn't journalism. The man frames each scene and each discussion to focus on negative qualities and past experiences of those individuals, and does it in a very aggressive and arrogant way.

Uh, it's a piece about the treatment of criminally violent sex offenders (did you miss all the bits about their treatment and how at the end he truly believes some of them have reformed)
and does it in a very aggressive and arrogant way.
No he didn't
Watched the whole thing. Very interesting, there was some hostility within the place at times, but most of them all seemed like good honest people.

I've just watched the first part, so it may be possible that he changed his film/discussion style as the movie progressed. But from what I have seen, it is quite obvious that he views them with contempt and constantly tries to push his discussion/filming to point out the issues with the individuals- sculpture/painting; masturbation session, etc..
it's called narrative
you won't understand the narrative if you don't follow it all the way through

Yeah he's kind of like "wot the fuck" in the beginning but it's not like he's openly hostile to them.

Louis Theroux does some of the best documentaries he does everything right.

The one where Louis interviews hypnotists where the hypnotist forgets his mic is on and talks about how he needs to hide the buisness model of his seminar is pretty amazing.

I don't have a single idea why she works there. Everything she said to the camera was just dripping with passive-aggressiveness. Especially the part about how the guy said he felt uneasy around her, and requested politely for her to leave, and she said a part later that she considers that abuse, assault, and all sorts of things. I know why those people are there, but I don't think I'd be able to keep going with treatment if I was in their shoes and had such an uncomforting presence around me.
Yeah. She's clearly the Nurse Ratched of that place and ought to be fired. You should be able to work in a position like that if you don't know how to talk to people like a sensible human being. Nothing that guy did was out of line. He might have been angry and frustrated but he handled it better even than the average person would while still expressing his feelings. If she was offended by that, tough shit sister.
[editline]14th February 2011[/editline]
The guy sees though that bullshit too. He throws in the remark about the patient never raising his voice or directly insulting or abusing her.
Yah that lady is a complete bitch.
