Something is a bit off with those facial animations. It's like they have overlayed video recording with the model in some way. It's sortof like it looks so realistic, that it turns unrealistic. Might also just be because the face looks far more detailed than anything else.

When it showed his face at 0:26, it looked like you were describing. There were something about his eyes that looked off, but it might just be the textures on his face compared to his eyes.

I think its just the extremely low and gross textures combined with excellent and complex facial animations.
At the beginning of the video I thought those were actually real actors but just with some weird filter on. Then I realized it was just some super realistic facial animations.
