No, gmod is a blatant copy of JBMOD, if you knew your history you would know this.
Whether or not Gmod is a copy is irrelevant now, Gmod has become quite a bit bigger than JBmod.

Wow, well this was super informative! I know JBmod was around for longer and it died out, personally I remember how I felt about Gmod when I first saw it, I was skeptical because of JBmod, but I actually prefered the feel of Gmod and the constant updates and tons of little things changing. Anyway now things have moved on and really Gmod has gotten so much better since then and there are thousands of new things to play with that I doubt JBmod will ever be able to catch up to.

I remember trying JBmod before I even knew Gmod existed. I thought the welding-system was absolutely horrendous then I found out about Garry's Mod (one of the very first versions, if not the very first one) and was amazed how much better it was in every way.
