considering the actual devs laughed at the whole "quiet is chico" comment, i would severely doubt it.
Nervous laughter. They know we're on to them.
Sadly, since this is the only available full MGS game coming to PC It'll be the only one I will be playing. But it looks like it'll be amazing regardless of the fact I won't know what the hell will be happening.

Actually MGS1 and 2 have PC ports, but they're not the most functional or easiest things to find.

You can emulate every Metal Gear game other then 4 what are you doing.
Solid Snake is the protagonist of MGS2.
You know the whole Chico being Quiet thing was a joke right? Just like Punished Snake being Gray Fox? It was all a joke and then for some reason people who didn't realize that started talking and taking it seriously
By far the best trailer all of E3 so far and probably will stay that way since only Square is left.
It looks so fucking good, and the craziest part is that it legitimately looks that fucking good in game if PC GZ is anything to go by(it is). I dont see anything topping MGSV.
I mean fuck, this is it, its the last real Metal Gear game we will ever get and the last by Kojima and his crew.

You honestly cannot do this with MGS. 5 is such a huge deal since its the finale and final bridge between a lot of shit. Its like watching the last episode of a super good TV show and ignoring the rest.
Emulate everything but 4, 4 wont even be too important for MGSV since 4 takes place so far in the future from MGSV.
You have no reason or excuse to not play MGS1/2/3/PW/GZ before V and MGSV will be so much worse unless you play the others.
Seeing this thing brought back so many emotions

Not to familiar with PS2 emulation, has it gotten better in recent years? Also wouldn't PS controller exclusive things such as the whole slight pressing of triggers and sticks be hard to replicate?
God damn. The music really hit home that this is Hideo's last trailer.
What a glorious bastard. Really hope he gets to do whatever he wants after leaving Konami and everything. He has most definitely earned it.

MGS1/2/3/PW emulate fine. Pressure shit only matters with drawning a gun but not shooting it, its not a major thing at all and I played 1/2/3 on a 360 controller emulating first before I got the legacy collection. You just unequip the gun when aiming with the inventory button and it does the exact same thing but faster/easier. You can still walk slow with the thumbsticks, pressure shit was just for buttons. PS2 Emulation is really good, and MGS work almost flawlessly aside from some slowdowns in certain cutscenes.
If you have a PS3/360 just get the HD collection or PS3 get the Legacy collection.
You really need to play 1/2/3/GZ at the absolute least if you want to really enjoy MGSV, it would be such a waste going into MGSV without playing those. Look up PW story if you must, only a few part of it is super important to MGSV from the looks of it.
But 1/2/3 are 100% required. Like I said, this isnt some series you can just jump into the newest one.
Playing MGSV first would be like if HL3 came out and it was the first one you played, and MGSV is pretty much the HL3 of MGS. Plus you get a good deal out of this, you get to play some of the best games in the industry.
2 and 3 have slowdowns on emulation no matter what due to some post-processing blur the PS2 uses that MGS2/3 use at times. Its an emulation problem but other than that its perfect and this slowdown never happens in gameplay, only cutscenes when the certain effect appears.
I've come here to confess my sins. I've played every Metal Gear Solid except MGS1.
The only Metal gear games I haven't played are the original ones on the MSX, I didn't like playing them, and so I rather just read up on all the story. I would say for anyone just wanting to get into the series before september, if for whatever reason you can't get a used ps3 or 360 and get the legacy collection, just try and emulate MGS3 and MGSPW, they are critically essential for TPP, far more than the other games because those 2 play out Big Boss's life.

No, there is a lot of stuff in the most recent trailer that only makes sense if you've played MGS4 and MGS2. Hell even Peace Walker makes reference to MGS4
If you don't have a PS3 then emulate MGS1-3, watch MGS4, then play Peace Walker and MGSV:GZ

I disagree but that's a fair point. I just figured that it would be better for someone to get at least some back story, as it's not all needed, recommended? You bet your ass I recommend that you play all the games besides MG1&2. But required? I think MGS3 and PW would be the only story pieces that you NEED in order to understand who everyone is in TPP. Playing 4 would just be to stitch everything together. But again, I see your point.
im sure tpp will have a thing like gz that just explains the gist of the story anyway
if you're new to the series just play 5 and get into the others if you're interested, no sense in buying a ton of games if you actually aren't into it
Yeah, all the Metal Gear games have a good amount of backstory bunched in the later games, hell you don't even need to play the ones on MSX if you play MGS1. They summarize the events pretty well.

If the first two Lord of the Ring books cost ~$300 dollars and took ~100 hours to read, I'd probably be just fine skipping them.

Play it. I still think MGS1 is the best.

The gameplay is quite dated, but dat story.

The story, the writing, the acting, it's all perfect.
There is no doubt in my mind that it's the best of the series.

Each Metal Gear Solid game is roughly 8 hours excluding 4 and PW and you can get almost all of them in one package for 70$
And if you can't play 1 game for 100 hours you might just be a casual since Persona 3 FES is roughly 120 hours long and that game is amazing.
I've come here to confess my sins. I've played every Metal Gear Solid except MGS1.
I just played through MGS2 a couple of 5 month ago and about to begin MGS3. This was a very interesting to play hard and also MGS3 is one of the best games ever made.
ign is gonna post a 40 minute e3 demo tomorrow good lord
you guys should follow kojima's twitter too
