I'm like 90% sure it's gonna be a Titan. They've been dropping so many hints here and there that it'd be a real disappointment. BF3's aftermath had pretty strong 2142 vibes, plus the easter-eggs in that game and the whole Final Stand DLC for BF4. You can tell the guys at dice want to revisit it. I wonder, if it is, whether we'll see the US or Africa as factions. They'd been alluded to in what little exists of 2142's backstory, but never present in the game.
The only thing that gives me any doubt is the bit at the end of the video - "No weapon, vehicle or gear manufacture is affiliated with or has endorsed or sponsored this game." Saying so would imply there's references to said manufacturers.
Anyway, despite BF3/4's SP campaigns being utter trash, I'd actually appreciate one this time around, there's a lot of stuff they can do with the backstory, and they have a lot more creative freedom with the kind of levels they could have.
I really don't think the Final Stand content is any foreshadowing and they were merely easter eggs.
I honestly don't think they're going to visit 2143 ever or at least not anytime soon. Didn't everyone say 2142 was a BF2 re-skin when it came out?
like even if you look at it, if it was something there you'd get the same reflection in both eyes, but you don't.

Yeah it got a lot of undeserved criticism, then that advertising tech it used caused a massive shit storm. Turned out to be the best yet buggiest (before BF4) Battlefield. I mean the titans use to duplicate them selves ffs :v:

Didn't moving the Titan also cause insane lag?
I recall servers disallowing moving the titan
Yes and when the titans shot at each other it usually resulted in a ban because of the insane amount of server lag it caused on top of accomplishing nothing, I think most servers utilized some kind of script that disabled it from moving.

They're getting pretty serious about the reveal today. They've got the Battlefield franchise design lead talking about the history of each game, each hour til they drop the new one at 16:00 EST.

Is that a Mauser? Man, this picture got me hyped now
If that's a Mauser then I'm really hoping its WW1/WW2 cross sci fi cause of the previous picture

There is a bigger chance those were lights coming from a Zeppelin.
Trench club, gas mask, zeppelin, if that is real it 100% will be WW1 or some sort of codename eagle successor
Holy shit if it's has something to do with WWI that would be really cool
A AAA WWI FPS, my dreams are coming true.
hold me
well there goes my 2143 hype
I also would have loved 2143, but anything is better than another generic modern setting.
2143 would have just been bf4 with vtols and a new gamemode that no one would play
Oh and mechs aka tanks with climbing capability and a higher turret
Here's someone who's never played 2142
I see why people want WW1/2 Battlefield game and I think it would be cool, but personally for me 2142 was a much more fun experience and I'm much more into SciFi stuff, so I was really hyped about it being 2143. Mostly because 2142 was a massive jump in time period from 2 and that's what made it really fun because you could go nuts with technology and thus, Titan Mode was born, which in my opinion is to this day one of the best gamemodes in any FPS. Congratulations to people who were hyped for WW1/2 game, your wish has been(apparently?) granted. I'll remain interested, but hype level has dropped significantly.
this is the first time I've actually been interested in a battlefield game, I guess I'm part of the target audience :v:
holy shit they're actually going with ww1? I'm hype
Heres someone who played it launch and was disapointed by how much it was just like bf2
Cod and titanfall both show that mainstream scifi warfare is basically modern warfare with rocketjumping and a couple of gimmicks but mostly samey guns and armaments
And how is a WWI BF going to be any different in that regard?
Apparently anybody that isn't instantly hyped about it being bf2143 has never played bf2142 because theres no way people have different opinions about a game
Bolt actions, low rof automatics with small mags, trench warfare, possible melee focus, slow as fuck but strong tanks, air combat not based on magic number airspeed and who got the aa missile lockon first
i can't wait to drive around in Schneider CA1's or FT17's.
If it's WW1, the game Verdun is fucked.

*Here's someone who's played less than enough of 2142 to be able to give thorough criticism other than "It was just bf2 with future"
The only similarity it shares with BF2 are the engine and how that effects gunplay, physics etc, and ofc. Conquest mode.
Visually it looks markedly better than 2. The weapons, though relatively few, are extremely diverse and each have their own distinct situational advantages and disadvantages - ditto with unlock equipment, which allows each class to be configured to suit different roles. The squad system felt more refined, and progression was definitely improved. Vehicles, the way combat works between them, and between them and infantry is much, much more interesting, due in large part to EMP weapons, magnetic motion mines and EMP mines. You've got fast jeeps with boosters, APCs with anti-infantry mortars and machineguns, and an EMP launcher, plus infantry drop-pods players can launch out with. A hover-tank which is more maneuverable but less armoured, a more traditional tank that's slow but strong, with the ability to turn its turrets 360 degrees. You got walkers that are jacks-of-all-trades, masters of none. They can take down vehicles with their rockets, but due to their practical rate of fire they can often retreat before being taken down. They've got anti-infantry machineguns, but are prone to being mined or shot in the rear by close-by engineers. They've got an AA machinegun with lock-on EMP missiles (Which are great, IF they hit), but can be crippled by a full salvo from a gunship or outright destroyed by a TV missile. The gunship can transition between hovering and flying like a plane. It has lock-on, low damage rockets for the pilot, and mouse-guided missiles that cripple or destroy most vehicles in one hit. In dogfighting, there are so many maneuvers available with which you can shake missiles off you or stay out of your opponent's line of fire altogether. Tanks and walkers are huge threats to them, as are the various AA emplacements on each map (Which themselves I could talk about for another paragraph). Then you got air transports, which with a competent group of 6 players can be turned into airborne battle fortresses, with their guns being able to destroy gunships, soft vehicles, other air transports and infantry. Engineers can repair it from the side seats, and also drop their motion mines around vehicles below.
And the best part of it all? Instead of countermeasures like smoke or flares, they all have ADS, a "shield" that lasts for like 3 seconds but takes ~10s to recharge. So if you're aware of a TV missile coming your way, you can use it and save your skin. Timing the use of it correctly plays a big part in inter-vehicle combat, but on many of the maps there's a lot of spots where infantry can ambush you from before you've recharged it. That, and RDX and mines aren't affected by it.
And fuck I've gone one this long without even mentioning Titans, the whole future aesthetic, the music, the map design, and the rest of the gameplay opportunities that are afforded by everything 2142 does differently than or on top of what 2 does. Tell me again how similar they really are.
