i expected a gun that shot high voltage elctricity at a target. instead it shoots an electricly charged projectile. still good
Somebody needs to build one with a powersource that takes up an entire space of a backpack. Then we would see some epic amounts of damage :v:

Impressive? Yes. Effective? Not really.
Awesome
until you accidentally touch it and discharge a fuck ton of electricity into yourself.
Yeah because the very premise of a coilgun isn't already dangerous or anything. It's just not that worthwhile spending months making something that's no more powerful than a paintball gun. If you're going to spend that much time and effort, may as well make something amazing.
Pretty awesome. Any gun expert can tell me if it can kill human sized target?
throw another capacitor in it, and it probably could. as it is now it's just an overpowered bb gun. also this guy made the same mistake a lot of youtubers made, his projectile is way too heavy for this.
dam you resistance :(

In my opinion, the appeal is that the ammo is anything that'll fit in the barrel and is magnetic, it's fun making one, and since it's electrically powered it honestly doesn't cost that much to use presuming you have access to suitable ammo. By the way, these things are actually very dangerous when made using multiple coils, check out some videos on youtube about them. :science:

Needs more coils to launch it farther and harder.
Flllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooor
Can add this as a bonus to the OP too, it's pretty fucking epic.
That would hurt. A lot.
i expected a gun that shot high voltage elctricity at a target. instead it shoots an electricly charged projectile. still good
The projectile isn't charged in any way. It's fired by the use of electromagnets.
hmm... cool.
Those guns are homosexual. Look at this: Now that's a fucking gun, listen to that sound. :3:
maybe if he drilled the projectiles, those are way too heavy also i'd like to see it hit something tougher than plastic and 2mm metal

It use 10 times the amount of power than the coilgun does.. If it actually shot a projectile I would fucking jizz.
Pretty awesome. Any gun expert can tell me if it can kill human sized target?
Probably not. It doesn't look like it has enough velocity to go through bone. It could probably do a nice wound shot, but a fatal shot isn't as likely. It could kill small game, wound/ maybe kill medium game (human), wouldn't scratch large game.
I thought it was gonna shoot a bolt or something. still it looks alright.
I wish that in videos showing off homemade ballistic weapons, rather than shooting cans and glass, they would shoot something like modelling clay, which would show how much damage it would cause against flesh.
Do not use near pacemakers!
