I have had my saitek eclipse II for about 6 years now and while I have had to do some pretty out there repairs it STILL works just as good as the day I bought it. It has had soda spilled on it, it has been smashed a couple times, and the metal bar under the space bar that keeps the key level is held in place with a couple metal wires. Recently the connector for the membrane switches under the keys wore out so I had to repair that as well... What I am trying to say is if your only problem was your space bar then you literally just wasted a keyboard.

Scroll wheel in my left-handed deathadder got all stupid, so I disassembled a trashed mouse, de-soldered its scroll-wheel component, and replaced the one in mine with that. Took some modification as the one in my mouse was shorter, but you can't even tell the difference now.
mouse1 is getting kinda jumpy these days now, too, double and sometimes triple clicking, I'm gonna replace that part next.

We actually tried putting it on fire, but we didn't have any propellant or anything else to create a fire with, so it didn't really work.
Didn't have any explosives either.
Maybe the next time we find something to destroy :)
