People arguing for the refined definition do not say "LOL, fuk off i don't care if u experience prejudiced."
Prejudice is still bad, why are you so butthurt about it not being called racism? You are having an issue with semantics. Unless you are willing to defend that examples of prejudice between the majority and the minority or the minority and the majority, or even between minorities should be viewed the same categorically, then stop being a little bitch dude and accept that you probably experience discrimination and prejudice in your life, but not racism. The terms are changed for more ACCURACY in describing examples of social exclusion.
is it bad that i am glad that i was born white while simultaneously recognizing that there are many people out there who have horrible things happen to them for absolutely sickening reasons?

1. It doesn't fucking matter which race discriminates which. You're still judging/treating people based on their race. Either you see people as colorless or you don't.
2. When you're going "it's not racism it's "just" discrimination" you're making it look like it's not as bad. It is. It doesn't matter at all that it's not as bad overall. On the individual level it makes no difference.

You shouldn't be glad you are born white. If you are saying "I'm glad I have all these benefits that other people don't have" then that is exactly what these people are talking about when they say check your privilege.
Are you glad you have your skintone, Why the fuck would you be?
I'm not saying dont have pride for who you are: if you are german, celebrate your culture, if you are filipino, im all for it. Hell, if you identify as british, american, whatever, you can have pride in that aspect of your life. But your white identity was MADE only for the express purpose of defining and excluding others, aka: non-whites. Literally, white identity (identifying as white) only became a thing because europeans had to deal with non-whites (blacks, native americans, etc) and say "fuck them, they don't look like me, they are lesser." The reason blacks are arguing for BLACK PRIDE is because unlike Europeans who didn't HAVE to identify as only white, that was the only way society recognized them and identified them.

dude the whole point of distinguishing racism from discrimination is that ONE HAPPENS ON THE INDIVIDUAL LEVEL, aka: discrimination, and the other one happens on a more macro level (DOMINANT race vs OPPRESSED race).
Also fuck your Morgan freeman video, colorblind politics are dumb, welcome to the year 2013.

Discrimination and prejudice based on race is called racism.
Discrimination is always bad it doesn't matter if the "majority" does it to the "minority" or if it's the other way. And like I said going "it's not racism it's "just" discrimination" you're making it look like it's not (as) bad.
And again like I said. Either you see people as colorless and then white and black people are equal or you judge people based on their race and you're part of the problem. Welcome to being racist.

They are both bad, one happens LIKE YOU SAID, on an individual level, and the other happens on a macro level. The reason there are two fucking terms is because they are describing two (read: SIMILAR) but not IDENTICAL things.
Seeing that people have different skin tones is not racist, it is facing the facts of life. For all your colorblind bullshit I bet my life on it that you've never had this conversation indepth with people of color. All the people who claim they are "colorblind" or have moved beyond race suprisingly seem to only have fucking white friends. In 20 years I want you to look back at yourself and at yourself and ask yourself a question: where are the minorities in my life? You wanna be colorblind so you don't have to deal with people of colors, you wanna render them invisible, which is exactly what our society has been trying to do to them for three hundred years.

This is great until you realise that Morgan Freeman is a successful actor and any person who was racist to him would have their entire career go down the shitter due to bad publicity.
It doesn't work so well for the average man who most likely would still be discriminated against because "if we stop talking about it it'll stop".

So let me get this straight if I don't have any friends of diferent race, I should go out of my way to make some friends of diferent races, just so I can claim I am colourblind?
Are you saying I should pick my friends just to have the moral high ground to sustain an argument?

"Colorblind" doesn't mean you can't see the skin color, it means you don't attribute anything to the skin color (white people this, black people that, etc).
Treating everyone as "people" not as "white people", "back people" etc, doesn't make minorities invisible. It makes you treat everyone the same fucking way, regardless of their skin tone which is a step forward. If everyone would follow this mindset there would be no minorities, because if we would treat skin color the same way we treat eye color, nobody would distinguish people based on their skin tone and go "black people this", "white people that". That's the end goal for you I hope? To make people ignore color of skin completely? To treat people based on who they are and how they act not on what skin tone they have?
Well you can start today.

It's not that the "minority" has to stop talking about it. Everyone has to do it. "I'm gonna stop calling you a white man, and I'm gonna ask you to stop calling me a black man". If you keep going white people this, black people that, you just create a vicious endless circle. If the end goal is to make people treat skin color the same way we treat eye color then that's what should be advocated. Not "white people are scum, check your privilege you bigoted shitheads". You're still making it us vs them.
Nobody* should be judged based on their race, gender, sexuality, religion, etc.
*not even the "majority" or "the ones who have it better"

You should pick your friends based on their race. That way you wouldn't be racist.

Surrounding yourself with persons of color does not mean you aren't racist.
But not having any is usually an indication that you are.
Blacks after 300 years of cultural destruction: So hey, I wanna start being proud of my skin color and embrace my blackness?
Slly Sil/Colorblind Politics/Racists: OMFG, ITS BEEN 40 YEARS SINCE THE CIVIL rIGHTS MOVemenT. RACIST, RACIST, SHUT UP ABOUT YOUR SKIN TONE LOLOLOL
[editline]18th July 2013[/editline]
Racism doesn't need racists anymore to function smoothly, its a system that has already been produced and is self sustaining. This is why if you aren't part of the solution you are part of the problem.

I want you to think very carefully about the whole cultural destruction thing.
Since the slavery was abolished, people from the colonies have only improved the african-native culture by sharing their technological advancements with their former slaves, I'm not saying the adaptation for the colonias to accept their former slaves as equals was easy, but it eventually happened and when it did the african-native benefited from all the advancements their colonial counter-parts had to offer.
Also I love how I'm "racist" for going "you shouldn't judge/treat people based on their race". How far from reality do you have to be to say something like that.
My privilege

I don't give a shit about being "white" because of "WHITE PRIDE", which I find idiotic. I just recognize that, because and only because I was born a different skin color, I have certain rights and, dare I say, privileges that others don't have only because our culture makes it so. That being said, I will do my best to remove this divide, but can I not at least be relieved in the fact that I don't have to place my hands outside my window at traffic stops or be constantly harassed and beaten down because of something which should not matter?
If you could chose what you would be born as before birth, knowing everything you do now, what would you chose?
This isnt true dude, there is a cultural/ideological power that is imbued in whiteness that transcends national boundaries. This is why if I visited Dubai I would be allowed to drink alcohol while a Muslim there would be arrested.
Or maybe, I dunno, it has something to do with Muslims being forbidden from drinking alcohol. Just maybe...
"You should feel bad for having a well-paying job because there are people who work at McDonald's."
the idea behind "checking your privilege" is to recognize why and how you have it better, and to be empathetic toward people who don't. a lot of SJWs treat privilege like an RPG stat system or something, which is what that site people were talking about earlier in the thread was parodying
