His analogy of "But you have CCTV recording you!!!" doesn't really work out, since the guys watching CCTV aren't going to go and upload it on YouTube or whatever (plus, it's also for your own safety, if they spot a robbery happening, they can dispatch police to your location). I mean, if someone came up to me and politely asked if they could record me for a project or something, I'd take it a lot better than if they just came up to my face and pointed a camera straight at me whilst not saying a single thing. Honestly, if I saw that guy, I'd just ignore him. Chances are there were tons of people who did just that and didn't appear in the video. The guy's looking for reactions to prove a point - but the people who react are reacting because they think he's gonna do something with the footage, which he does, by putting it into a video - and people who don't react don't end up in the video :v:

I'm not questioning the legality of it. I'm questioning the morality of it. Just cause something is legal, doesn't mean it's not a dick move. You're pretty set in your views, I think it's shitty of the guy, but good on you for supporting his actions. I've got no problem with people recording me in public, but if someone approached it the way he did, I couldn't help but get annoyed by it. There's loads of ways to do something, he picks the douchiest way to do it. My problem is with the guy, not the action.

And despite that, the law is there to keep society functioning, not to stop people from being assholes. It's not a question about whether you are able to to something, there's a personal moral responsibility to understand whether or not you should do something. If the guy wants to pretend that this is a social experiment then an important aspect he needs to consider is the ethical treatment of the subject. If he eventually puts the camera down and tells people that he means to upload them to the internet and gets their permission then it would be considered ethical, I'm pretty sure he doesn't though. The video would've been at least a little interesting if he did more ballsy stuff like going into the fast food place, instead of singling out people and annoying them.
