there's people with atheistic beliefs that are respectful, and atheistic beliefs that are intrusive and dumb
Those aren't the only two choices.
I am not respectful of religion, nor am I intrusive. I make fun of and mock theism and criticize it when it is deserving of it. I don't care about the average christian nor do I want to "de-convert" anyone, but that doesn't mean I should respect outdated, ignorant belief systems perpetuated by guilt and violence.
does anyone else really hate it when their mom makes em go to church i hate church
Reddit's generally a pretty cool place if you unsub from /r/atheism and /r/f7u12

See. when you have a reverse crusade, it's called Anti-theism.

And this is just called being part of the populace who actually live in and embrace the present and future and is perpetually surprised how hard people find it to deal with the probable fact that praying to a "benevolent zombie" won't help you.
I personally only get anti-theistic when the theists in questions get anti-me, anti-other group or anti-everyone else. Pisses me off that they have the audacity to imply they want the world alone and would know every damn thing about how to run it responsibly. Hence a deepseated doubt and dislike for many of the republican party representatives in 'merica. Especially when they start with their egocentric anti-christian ethics and bedroom invasive politics.
That would be like me labeling myself a satanist and start doing charity work and going all mother Theresa/ Gandhi at the same time.

Church is good a few times a year. Not for spirituality... or maybe that too, but also philosophy. There's a lot of that hidden behind the murderous bullshit.
See. when you have a reverse crusade, it's called Anti-theism.
and this is called a no true scotsman fallacy.

isn't there an inherent risk that you're only seeing what you want to see? I mean, you're already hacking off all the stuff you don't agree with, the end result may not be what the original author intended.
does anyone else really hate it when their mom makes em go to church i hate church
i know god is so stupid he doesn't even do anything

If you know enough to differentiate between the murderous bullshit and the stuff "hidden behind" it, then you haven't learned anything. You already knew the difference between right and wrong and you're just vindicating yourself with a book that is otherwise a steaming pile of xenophobic bile.
I can certainly find some shit in Mein Kampf that sounds nice, but I'm not going to be using Mein Kampf as evidence of the fact. You can't argue validity by completely dismissing context.
guys r/atheism is such a circlejerk omfg inst it
the most annoying part of r/atheism is when I or someone else for that matter are having a reasoned spiritual conversation with a religious person on the internet and they invoke r/atheism.
I don't go there. I don't even go to Reddit. I have no control over what they do. Shut up and stop crying about it.

Implying Facepunch is a community of 50 year olds who have PhDs in every subject.

There is no original author. There are more than 1500 original authors, 500 compilers over 40 years, 3 times through history. 196 translations, all based on Luther's translations, none of which, to his own lament, rely on the original hebrew texts for accuracy, but rather the molded Latin translation which is more like a re-authoring to suit Roman and later Holy-Roman goals.
There is only abstract good to be taken and my original statement could be viewed as total bullshit since most of THAT can be taken from elsewhere anyway. Old legends or directly from philosophers' mouth. All depends. But people will always find value in the Bible because it's the best way for them to be exposed to a lot of lore and ethics. However shite they are.
I'll have to reiterate. Church is NOT good for philosophy. It's good for spirituality, a tingling tummy feeling or seeking safety when everything else fails.

I actually have PhD in googlenomics, also just got my Masters for Wikipediaist.
You guys realize that this video also pretty much encompasses Facepunch in various ways, right?
Most of us are no better.
lol as if facepunch is any better
at least facepunch hasn't kept a jailbait forum open for half a decade only to remove it when actual legal consequences might happen.

As much as I dislike reddit what does that have to do with r/atheism?
None of the people on Reddit have really gone off into their own interests, they form uneducated opinions on everything because most of them haven't spent enough time in certain aspects of life to give an educated opinion.
Reddit is the place where "Do you like.... anything in the world? Then come to Reddit!" there are "subreddits" but anyone that goes to them are people from the general group, who have no opinion of their own
lol no.

It's best to unsubscribe from all of the defaults, IMO.
Reddit is okay, but I will make fun of the users until the end of time because they're annoying, at least, the ones I know are.

Except feeling superior to everyone else.
Except feeling superior to everyone else.
That can apply to pretty much everyone.
"I'm a Christian, hah, I get to go to heaven, unlike those Muslims."
Most religions and beliefs do the exact same thing and lets not forget the agnostics who also say they are better than everyone else because they are special and different. Everyone according to anyone is better than everyone.
the agnostics who also say they are better than everyone else because they are special and different
