I pretty sure a person who has supported and funded the murder of innocents for decades is a bad guy by anyones standards.

not to be mean or anything, but aren't you notorious for complaining about ME3 (a game that you don't have to play)

What?
[editline]31st July 2012[/editline]
'notorious?'
It seems hypocritical to me to say "you don't have to visit this website, don't complain about it!" and then to complain about a videogame which you could apply the same argument to.

If you're going to make inane accusations at least make them better than that.
It wasn't an accusation, I was just pointing out what looks to me like hypocritical behavior.
[editline]31st July 2012[/editline]
I don't really understand why you linked to a thread you made on the bioware forums at that. The only reason I linked to your reddit account was because there are various examples of you complaining about Mass Effect 3 (which you denied for some reason)?
I would like to say that I am an atheist... but insulting those who are Christian bugs me. I also don't share it with the family- they are mostly catholic. While some people would say that I deserve to share my opinion, why? It could just create conflict, and my parents are not forcing me to perform religious actions anyways.
I find that sometimes people on reddit(and facepunch!) seem to seek conflict actively. Whats the point?

It's called talking.
I'm telling people who are mad because there are atheists talking about atheist stuff not to go there.
There's a fucking distinction here and you've got to be blind not to see it. There is a big difference between "complaining" (i.e. talking) about something, and complaining that people are talking about it. The prior is called having a conversation. The latter is being a douche.
The fact that I talk about video games is entirely irrelevant. I don't bitch and moan that people are talking about games, nor am I mad that people say varying things about Mass Effect in particular. That is the difference.
[editline]31st July 2012[/editline]
You're reaching far exceeds your grasp. Stop scrambling to find some contradiction in entirely irrelevant subject matter. If I didn't want to talk about something, I wouldn't be talking about it.
[editline]31st July 2012[/editline]
Also stop stalking me, you creepy weird crazy person. I'm not "notorious" for anything, and the fact that you think I am is fucking weird.

Its strange to see you in that setting.
The point is you don't pretend you've got some moral high ground when you throw your morals away at the first opportunity for some bloodshed.
You act like anyone that is happy/just fine for the death (death being justice too. We don't celebrate if some random dude on the street died) of people like bin laden or hitler is obviously a bloodthirsty lunatic and will opt for killing someone/having someone else killing someone given the chance.
Thats the vibe I get from this entire thing.
[editline]1st August 2012[/editline]
I mean I am glad as fuck that hitler died.
If he was able to carry out his plans in their entirety things would be quite a bit different.
But does that make me a bad/immoral/bloodthirsty lunatic of a person? No.

Except you're defending people who danced in the street waving flags, singing songs and setting off fireworks over the death of a human being.
There is a difference between wanting someone dead and celebrating the fact as though they had just won the super bowl or something.
What do you think of the people in Palestine burning American flags and dancing when reports of American casualties come in?

While I think parading in the streets going "america, fuck yeah" is a bit extreme, there should be at least SOME joy in the fact that they got punished in the end, (not the fact that they died. But that they got punished. If he got put in jail forever that would be just fine.).
What you sound like is that having any joy at all makes you an immoral crazy murderous person.
What you sound like is that having any joy at all makes you an immoral crazy murderous person.
From death?
yes that's sort of a problem, amigo.
Killing people isn't cause to throw a party.
What you sound like is that having any joy at all makes you an immoral crazy murderous person.
No. What he's saying is that celebrating the death of a human being (no matter how evil) in a manner similar to how you'd celebrate the end of a war is a little unsettling. Whether or not it's morally "correct" is entirely debatable though, and I have no shame in saying that I am glad that Osama was killed. However, I didn't go parading in the streets about it.
Here's how I see it: If I were alive for World War 2, I wouldn't celebrate the death of Hitler. I'd be thankful for it, and I'd give praise to our troops for doing a good job, but I wouldn't celebrate it. I WOULD celebrate the war ending.
From death?
yes that's sort of a problem, amigo.

But like I have said multiple times is that we are not celebrating his death specifically. We are happy because he had some form of justice brought to him.
I would have had the same reaction if they captured him and thrown him in prison for forever.
Back to the hitler reference. I would have been just fine if they threw him in prison forever, but he decided to kill himself.
I am happy because hitler is gone. Not happy because he died. That is the difference that you just aren't seeing.

This is honestly one of the most heart-warming things I've seen in a long time.
Everyone complains about Mass Effect 3, Lankist isn't the only one.
Obviously, but I don't see those people posting "If you don't like it, just don't go there/do it/play it/etc"
[editline]31st July 2012[/editline]
to me it's the same argument. There is no difference between complaining about "someone talking about something" and "the way a game was made." You don't have to read what the person said, you don't have to play the game, it's the exact same concept.
And then Lankist comes in and spews a shitstorm.
Thanks Lankist.
This is exactly reddit in a nutshell.
at least facepunch hasn't kept a jailbait forum open for half a decade only to remove it when actual legal consequences might happen.
"Fuck those humans on that shitball of a planet they harbor rapists and racists kill em all they're shit"
I just don't see what the users and mods of reddit have to do with that. Heil Garry I guess he's so great.
you know what fucking pisses me off.
i don't go to reddit for a fucking reason.
yet fucking every other forum talks about reddit or shit on reddit so i'm basically going to fucking reddit via proxy, fucking fuck!
athiests are a bunch of jerks!
fuck those guys
He had to shut down comments
gg everyone
Hey you guys know whose smarter than us? Everyone not fighting about this.
Why do you guys read shit solely to get mad about it?
[editline]28th July 2012[/editline]
I mean, if all the atheists you hate are posting in r/atheism, they aren't posting everywhere else about shit you hate. They make their own place to hang out and trade shitty jokes, and you get mad at them for having a place to do that. They don't make that place and make shitty jokes everywhere else, and you'd get mad at them for that. It seems less about them having their own niche and more about you not wanting them to exist.
You can just, you know, not go there.
[editline]28th July 2012[/editline]
Like I don't go to Sunday mass primarily because I don't really want to hear it. Partially because I'd feel like Solid Snake in that scene on the boat with the huge army in MGS2, like I could get found out and obliterated at any moment.
But mostly the not wanting to hear it thing.
When you have a group of people constantly making moronic statements like r/atheism, people are going to call them out for it.
Everyone let's all just fuck off to somewhere together and have some good soda pop and stop arguing please.
