so now not only do people read esrb always before the buy a game, but look up the definitions for each term they use, and the developers adhere to those specific definitions
By this logic people with allergic reactions (PTSD sufferers) shouldn't look up what it says on the back of a pill bottle (ERSB) and maybe if their allergic reaction is horrible pain (Flashbacks) they might want to go the extra step and look up some ingredients (Full rating explanation).
"i am not cripplingly traumatized by rape, so the people who are can go fuck themselves and deal with it because i don't want to see a 3-second splash screen when i launch a video game" -alex_delarge
Feel free to pay five dollars and get me a title. I promise not to remove it.
I'm telling all victims of anything to fuck off because I shouldn't have to cater to anyone but myself. It's my project, I'm the one designing it. I'm the one developing it. If I don't feel like putting a warning in my game, I'm not going to. If you want to design a game or write a book or direct a movie and warn your audience of what to expect, fine but don't expect everyone else to because there is "potential for trauma if the wrong person reads/views/plays content. That's ridiculous, there are measures in place to make sure that doesn't happen and if they don't read the rating descriptions, then yes they do deserve whatever is coming to them because I'm not going to waste my time programming a screen that does nothing but annoys and potentially deters people from playing my game.
i still have no idea who the fuck sees this one tiny screen and gets really pissed off about it, like who the fuck cares THAT MUCH [editline]16th August[/editline] seriously what the fuck do you actually stand to lose
i still have no idea who the fuck sees this one tiny screen and gets really pissed off about it, like who the fuck cares THAT MUCH
I do and it's not your place to decide what I do with my game. Honestly I don't care if one of my products causes "post traumatic stress". They should have read the content description. I fulfilled my legal obligation.
It's already out and by the looks of your Steam profile, you have already played it :downs:
i bought it with steam trading card money i swear [editline]16th August 2013[/editline]
I do and it's not your place to decide what I do with my game.
I do and it's not your place to decide what I do with my game. Honestly I don't care if one of my products causes "post traumatic stress".
i bought it with steam trading card money i swear [editline]16th August 2013[/editline] again with the "deciding" things like youre being forced to do anything. you're the one with a victim complex
You're the one with the victim complex because you're the one using victim in every goddamn post.
god i hope you didnt make dont starve i cant get into that game
well i think the fact that you're only obligated to fulfill literally the absolute bare minimum of caring about these people says a lot more about you than i ever could
No, it's more like "fuck those people, I'm doing everyone else a favor by NOT making that annoying screen those 100 people want"
You're the one with the victim complex because you're the one using victim in every goddamn post.
what? i know you are but what am i? [editline]16th August 2013[/editline]
And?? Rape causes your PTSD? That doesn't mean other forms of sexual violence won't trigger you because again triggers are subjective Say a woman is threatened by her boss and so on... Now seeing sexual threats in video games, books, movies, etc now trigger her. What do you do for people like that? So why wouldn't they just avoid sexual violence in general?
because rape is rarely depicted in videogames and they have no reason to expect it -me, 2 pages ago [editline]16th August 2013[/editline]
No, it's more like "fuck those people, I'm doing everyone else a favor by NOT making that annoying screen those 100 people want"
*picture of gordon gekko*
i still have no idea who the fuck sees this one tiny screen and gets really pissed off about it, like who the fuck cares THAT MUCH
me i absolutely hate pointless splash screens, there are some games where, every fucking time i boot them up, i have to wait 30 seconds to a minute before i even get to the title screen no thank you ofcourse this only applies if the screen is unskippable, but if it is skippable it'll not even be as good of a warning as the ESRB rating already is, because seriously who the fuck actually watches every single splash screen upon booting up a game if they have a choice about it. so whats the point? [editline]16th August 2013[/editline]
because rape is rarely depicted in videogames and they have no reason to expect it -me, 2 pages ago
okay i have a solution put rape into more games
why not remove the name of the dev studio and publisher and so on during game boot up while we are at it
Feel free to pay five dollars and get me a title. I promise not to remove it.
if i were gonna get you a title it'd have to do with your advocation of killing orphaned newborns, not this
okay i have a solution put rape into more games
no words
if i were gonna get you a title it'd have to do with your advocation of killing orphaned newborns, not this
Feel free to. I'll gladly start defending my stance on that topic.
I do and it's not your place to decide what I do with my game. Honestly I don't care if one of my products causes "post traumatic stress". They should have read the content description. I fulfilled my legal obligation.
Why do you keep putting completely legitimate terms in quotation marks like that
no words
exactly, it's the perfect solution you're speechless at the awesomeness that is this solution to all the problems we shall add rape to every game, it shall be mandatory, no matter how relevant it actually is to the subject matter of that game
why not remove the name of the dev studio and publisher and so on during game boot up while we are at it
In my game, both of those things are skippable (thanks to me).
exactly, it's the perfect solution you're speechless at the awesomeness that is this solution to all the problems we shall add rape to every game, it shall be mandatory, no matter how relevant it actually is to the subject matter of that game
nice one buddy!
In my game, both of those things are skippable (thanks to me).
I'm really curious as to what game it is
why not remove the name of the dev studio and publisher and so on during game boot up while we are at it
ah you see, here's the problem nine times out of ten, they are SKIPPABLE thus they aren't really a problem, atleast not a big one except when they aren't skippable. fuck that [editline]16th August 2013[/editline]
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/gjTPXJc.png[/thumb]
this picture is legit scary you should have put a warning up before you posted it

My next (unannounced) title will definitely have a rape scene and I'm going to make sure no one is warned about it beforehand.
ah you see, here's the problem nine times out of ten, they are SKIPPABLE thus they aren't really a problem, atleast not a big one except when they aren't skippable. fuck that
thank you for pointing out my problem [editline]16th August 2013[/editline]
I'm doing my part. I feel like devs should be able to put any material they want in their games without fear of people getting up in arms about "but what about the children/rape victims/women who have been subjected to sexist behavior!!" I mean generally when you read the ratings it says all the reasons why it's rated as such
thank you for pointing out my problem
no problem, i'm a helper
I feel like devs should be able to put any material they want in their games without fear of people getting up in arms about "but what about the children/rape victims/women who have been subjected to sexist behavior!!"
I'm doing my part. My next (unannounced) title will definitely have a rape scene and I'm going to make sure no one is warned about it beforehand.
but isn't that a warning in itself??? nice try, guy!
thank you for pointing out my problem [editline]16th August 2013[/editline] now we see what kind of people we are dealing with lol *rates agree*
I've known what kind of person you are since your first post.
