Why did they send Gordon to do this? they should have sent Anthony Bourdain
Why did they send Gordon to do this? they should have sent Anthony Bourdain
He might have insisted on trying it
For cannabis, you require either a polar solvent (i.e. butane) or a saturated fat (coconut oil) which binds efficiently to the assorted cannabinoids in the plant, and is either able to dissolve (for pure extractions) or edible (for extract edibles.) :magic101:
But butane is extremely non-polar, not polar. Polar solvents are things like water.
Same way they figured out tobacco.
And both can be chewed to elicit very mild versions of effects their distilled, concentrated counterparts are known for. I'm sure we had little choice other than consuming it raw until the age of :chem101: .
"Do you know what Harry Potter is?" "No." "Thank God for that." Fucking :excited:
cocaine is great as a dip for pickles and carrots
You should try this power shake 1 cup (250 ml) unsweetened almond milk 1 ripe banana, frozen 3 tbsp (45 ml) uncut cocaine 1/2 cup (125 ml) chopped mango, frozen 1-2 large handfuls of baby spinach
yeah i always wondered how people ever discovered 'smoking this green plant will make you feel good' or how the stuff in this video was figured out for instance
it's just really rudimentary backyard chemistry, various easy to obtain solvents and the like. if you do it right none of that stuff ends up in the final product, it's just easier to feamonger over drugs if they go 'look it's fucking PETROL and BATTERY ACID dude!'
Not a fan of this chemical scaremongering.
Is it scaremongering? He does say at the end of the process that what's left is "pure cocaine water" at the bottom because the battery acid helped to seperate. Regardless, it is shocking to see what's used during the process because they are all "everyday" things you can get easily.
Regardless, it is shocking to see what's used during the process because they are all "everyday" things you can get easily.
Well you still have to get your hands on coca leaves.
He might have insisted on trying it
Exactly. It would have been a very entertaining segment. In the episode of The Layover where he goes to Amsterdam, he really insists he did not smoke any marijuana all while the camera focuses on a something in the foreground while in the very blurry background, you can see a vague blurry shape with the same colors as him smoking weed
yeah i always wondered how people ever discovered 'smoking this green plant will make you feel good' or how the stuff in this video was figured out for instance
My theory is some wanker thousands of years ago probably made a campfire and used cannabis as kindling and discovered the smoke made them feel funny. [editline]20th October 2017[/editline]
its baffling how people come up with these concoctions.
Most of these substances started their existence in chemistry labs in the late 19th to early 20th century as candidates for over the counter remedy for pretty much anything, before the times of testing and the concept of these drugs having adverse/long term effects was still relatively recent in the public mind. While the products themselves are now illegal and no longer exist, the recipes for making them are still around. Not all of the chemicals/equipment is available/affordable to ordinary citizens so these cookers use the cheapest most readily available solution that's chemically similar enough to yield a reaction. Basically its a matter of knowing what you need to make what your making, and knowing where to find these things in common household items
