Hmm, I can imagine the constant jumping leading to the floor collapsing, but with people actually dropping 10 feet, wouldn't they cause a much bigger force to the floor below? I'm guessing it was better built, lucky for those who survived.

That was surreal. I just didn't expect the entire frame to drop out, it seemed like the camera was on a boom lift or something.
I saw this on the news when I was a kid, the screams still give me chills...
That's quite saddening really, I'm glad that not many people died, it looked like quite a large drop.

I thought it was some sort of staged event at first.
This was a result of poor construction planning, the floor they were dancing on was originally designed to be a roof section, but late in the construction stage it was decided that they would turn it into a third floor. The concrete slab section was designed to act as a roof section, not a internal floor section, so its load bearing capabilities would have been lower. Initially this was not a problem as there partition sections beneath the floor that acted as props for it, giving it extra strength.
The deal breaker here was when the owners failed to actually see a major structural danger when the floor began to dip, as they had removed the partitions about a month prior which removed the support the floor previously had. The floor had already began to sag by a couple of inches, but the owners just filled it in with grout, thus adding extra weight to the now overburdened slab section without adding anymore structural support. Adding all the dancing people, it added a huge amount of weight causing the floor to collapse.
