im trans and tbh i think the whole "tfw no qt trap gf" shit is kinda cute imo
or maybe his views have changed over time.
Then he should explain himself.
Jesse's just being a hypocrite by finding the question offensive now.
I think he's just changed his mind on the issue, like most of us have over the past years.

I don't think he has to.
Always assume ignorance before Malice.
Jesse's just being a hypocrite by finding the question offensive now.
Changing your mind doesn't make you a hypocrite fam.
edit: lol i was late
Then he should explain himself.
He did, by showing what he believes in now.
Like I said, changing your mind about something and then pretending you never did is the problem. Also the fact that it's just a meme about something else.
Like I said, changing your mind about something and then pretending you never did is the problem with him.
How did he pretend he never did?
Did somebody show him evidence he said it followed by him replying "nah that didn't happen lmao." ?
Like I said, changing your mind about something and then pretending you never did is the problem. Also the fact that it's just a stupid meme about something unrelated.
That's not a problem at all. There's no point in bringing up old views. He can forget and ignore it all he wants, it's just no longer relevant and there's no reason to pursue it.
If he's willing to be offended by behaviour that he himself has shown in the past, he should at least address that he was wrong before judging others. At least, this is the point made in the video.

That'd be redundant virtue signalling. Show, don't tell is the best way to go about things.
I'm sure if someone directly asked him about it he'd probably say exactly what you want him to.
Why are people getting irrationally buttmad over a stupid meme again? How sensitive do you have to be to get offended over this shit?
Comment section is a goldmine though, nothing but shitposts and angry TB fans.
Someone doesn't have the same opinion I do, so they're an asshole
This video is literally about being an asshole because someone doesn't think your shitty humor is funny so they're an asshole, but not you...
And people wonder why no one gives a fuck about 4/8chan anymore.
I wonder if SFO realizes they aren't 15 anymore.
That'd be redundant virtue signalling. Show, don't tell is the best way to go about things.
Those two aren't mutually exclusive, you know.
I prefer show and tell, as an apology for example is both words and actions. I guess we'll have to disagree on it.
I prefer show and tell, as an apology for example is both words and actions. We'll have to disagree on that.
I believe the general consensus is to firstly SHOW, but ideally follow-up with telling.
This video is stupid, TB has already owned up that he was an asshole in the past and the video poster is digging up the past.
Also being protective for Trans people in public like that isn't exactly out of place, it has nothing to do with video games or video game consumers. Keep internet memes on the internet, TB has nothing to gain from defending the traps question as free speech or whatever just because some nerds from /pol/ got triggered.
[editline]16th August 2017[/editline]
Also TB is losing subs because he doesn't produce nearly as much content as he used to.
"Fame and money corrupt" is such a massive cliche but it's also so very true. People change when they rise above the masses, because in truth, we are all ugly inside. And once that spotlight shines through your
fading corporeal form and reveals that ugliness, people who aren't comfortable with themselves tend get irrational and extremely prickly. They'll either try to hide it or if their ego is a few sizes too big, they'll double-down.
In the end, however, that ugliness will be the only thing people will remember them for. "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
did you even read what you just said lol, especially with quoting the dark knight as icing on the cake.

That, and also he's just plain suffering from old youtube channel syndrome, very few people can keep the same sub growth they used to for 11 years. Which also includes useless sub counts, since if you look at the amount of views the average video gets, it shows that most of his subscribers are fairly inactive.

What part about traps =/= trans did you miss there buddy?
What part about traps =/= trans did you miss there buddy?
The part where that's inaccurate prescriptivism that neglects how very many people actually do use the word I assume
TotalBiscuit didn't become, but always was an "asshole", but he's learned to manage it with varying success. If this guy's really been following him for years that's something he for certain has noticed and has had to accept.
His reaction to this coxcon drama is disappointing but isn't indicative of some paradigm shift. I hope.

While I agree that the video's only point is to stir up drama (considering how its coming from a skeptic channel) the point still stands that Totalbiscuit incredibly acted out of line for someone of his belief system.
Numerous people have fallen to their egos and fame in the past, I don't see how that becomes any less true just because of the way he worded it.

Except that in the context of "Are traps gay" it's not because the question "Are traps gay" is a meme about crossdressers and androgynous characters, a well known one at that considering the laughter in the audience. Saying that traps in this context is about trans people is flat out wrong.

http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/traps
oh look people using that specific phrase in the context of trans women
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Trap
and here's urban dictionary, where you find transwomen oft-mentioned.
Trap doesn't become a different word in that context, the only thing that changes is that it's often weeb communities memeing about that, and very few animes feature actual realistic trans people. But you can still very easily find instances of people saying "traps are gay" in regards to transwomen, and referring to them as traps. Just open /b/ or /gif/, find a few trans threads and you'll find it.
Also even on Facepunch I've linked that study on page 1 before when people were talking about whether traps were gay in other threads, and nobody interjected with "uh. that's transwomen not traps."
And just to be clear I'm not saying it is inherently a transphobic phrase. Just that denying how many people actually use it is ridiculous, and that it's very dumb to say it in public expecting not to offend.
I think the response to the question was as disproportinate as it was because any other reaction would have eventually found its way to, say, Kotaku, and snowball into a huge "Totalbiscuit and Jessie Cox are transphobic" shitstorm. TB does absolutely have people who would misconstrue his words just to smear him at any given opportunity.
What part about traps =/= trans did you miss there buddy?
i agree trans arent traps, traps are dudes who crossdress
but that's not what it's about if you watched the video
To address the meme he goes on about for a bit; honestly being attracted to traps is gay as fuck. Like people that like traps I would assume like the factor that it's what appears to be a woman but has a dick rather than a woman with a vagina.
and liking dick is fuckin gay
I don't blame TB and Jesse for not wanting that cringey edgy meme bullshit in their convention. I think there's a YouTube disconnect that causes people like TB and Jesse to misunderstand and resent their fans, to think they're better than them, but I don't think this is an example of it, or that the guy in the video is doing anything other than the kind of dishonest rambling we see from YT skeptics and the like.
Being attracted to traps is gay. Trans women aren't traps because traps are guys who looks like girls.
But being gay is ok.
Case closed.

That entire 20 minute video and all of this debate can be summed up by this which took me 10 seconds to read.
