With the dupe bug and everything, 42k gold might not be all that much :v: But really, how much is 42k in gold? Like, how fast do you get gold in TESO?
Its not that bad to get gold at all. I had well over 40k around level 25. Also the game allows you to teleport to players around the world via the travel option or through wayshrines. So getting around shouldn't be something to really complain about.
Its like every TES game has a dupe glitch.
I have 15 of Ulfric's Bracers in Skyrim because for some reason my mannequins would refuse to wear any of Ulfric's clothing items and they somehow spawned 14 additional bracers in my inventory after I gave up and left it alone.
Ive played all the betas and its just a boring ass mmo. Beautiful world though with very very good graphics but boring ass game. Pretty much everything he says is true. Cant wait for f2p though
While I agree with the issues related to the game itself, a subscription based MMO asking for an initial fee of 60$ or more is very common practice and considering MMO players tend to spend a lot of time playing the game per month, the pricing of 80$ for game and relevant content + 15 $ for subscription is pretty trivial, and most will pay without much care because they expect getting a lot of good value in the first place. JOE really exaggerates how much of a "money grubbing tactic" the pricing really is.
They fucked it up. 42,000 Gold for a horse sounds like mobile game crap. What an obvious money grab.
I got the game in hopes of it being something different but I just couldn't get in to the game and ending up letting my sub run out. Like Joe said, game sounds and look beautiful. All the areas are really nice and unique. But the game feels fucking empty. Which is the opposite of what they was saying. All the different pacts/factions don't get to interact until one main high level area. So they're in the same area as you but they're invisible (basically in another instance of the map). Despite there being a group system all my friends ended up doing their own quests and soloing because a lot of stuff feels broken and empty. What I'm going to end up doing..is just waiting for the game to improve and get the bugs squashed. Maybe I'll give it a shot again. I'm just going to get back in to GW2. PVP is hell of a lot better.
So glad I didn't buy into this. I really wanted to play it, but this review has just saved me from the agony and torture that is TESO.
I love Angry Joe's reviews, he pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one.
Weird. Gaming magazines seem to like it, most reviews say it takes time to get into it but once you're in it's really deep with good quests and all.
Weird. Gaming magazines seem to like it, most reviews say it takes time to get into it but once you're in it's really deep with good quests and all.
there's your problem.
I was going to say there isn't really a big problem with a race being locked, despite being subscription based because DnD Online did the same thing. Too bad DnD let you farm in-game cash, at least giving you the ability to buy it rather than completely block you behind a pay wall. I don't see why ESO even needed to lock out a race.

It's great that angryjoe seems to be learning to condense reviews into non-cringy comedy skits, I just had to watch the first 15 seconds to get the point and don't have to try and watch the rest

I mean, everyone has a different taste for races, but Imperials are usually the 'generic jack of all trades' race, weren't they? I usually tended to go Imperial in Oblivion at least. But they lock it off knowing some people will probably want to play as them, and paying an extra $20 lets you play any race in any faction anyway.. It's not that big a deal when compared to other games who've done things like this, but when you buy a $60 game plus $15 a month subscriptions, a reasonable MMO shouldn't lock anything off from the goddamn players just because they didn't pay a bit of extra money for a special version/upgrade. Also, is it me or were the horses only marginally faster than running around on-foot in that video?
there's your problem.
Sometimes i feel lucky that i have a gaming magazine that has a bit of Jim Sterling and a bit of TB in it. :v: (And there is seemed to be a lot of non-gaming content in it lately, but i still feel very fine with it since it has still a lot of quality).
but you have the internet old habit?
I dunno, i may have internet, but i still like how they PROPERLY do stuff.
This is really sad to me, as a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls series and having played all of them. In my time, i've probably played hundreds of FREE TO PLAY MMO's that have done so much better than this has. This is really sad and while i know this was Zenimax and not Bethesda, a lot of people don't pay attention to that and i seriously hope this doesn't kill future TES games for everybody.
So the economy needs some tweaking, and we are barely a month into launch. The horse issue seems a bit trivial if you consider the amount of gold you needed in WoW to buy a mount. Having had played wow when I was younger for about 2 years, I can safely say that the storytelling is far more ambitious. Granted, there are many areas which will need polishing, but the engine, community, and full voice coverage provides a better experience IMO. Yes there are bots and bugs, but like I said, we aren't even a month into launch. The problems of balancing can only be ironed out through long term testing with the full community. Patches are coming out at an astonishing rate, and I think that by this time next year this game will be amazing and live up to it's full potential. Don't act like WoW was perfectly balanced when it first came out.

Don't act like WoW was perfectly balanced when it first came out.
Nobody was acting like that. But there's a colossal difference between WoW and this. Up til then, Warcraft was RTS games, it was a whole new venture for them into MMORPG's at a time when those were starting to become more and more popular. This is a longstanding RPG series that they tried to bring into the MMO experience but as much like an MMO as possible and losing a lot of what made it TES. There were so many better ways they could have gone and been more like the previous games that they just blew again and again and so we got this half-baked mess that doesn't live up to the series or anybodies expectations. It shouldn't have to take until a year from now for it to be what it should have been on launch.
Me and my bro though about trying it and play together, but then i realize GW2 was still alive.
5/10 seems really generous, especially considering that the only highlight was Joe screaming for blood with his army in PVP. That doesn't seem like something that'll last.
5/10 seems really generous, especially considering that the only highlight was Joe screaming for blood with his army in PVP. That doesn't seem like something that'll last.
It clearly says that 5/10 is painfully average. Anything below that I'd imagine is for genuinely bad games that have no hope for redemption. If a game has some good parts of it that make it playable then it's not "genuinely bad."
Haven't seen a pile of boss corpses like that since my Mu Online days, holy crap
Star Wars Galaxies was an awesome MMO
Unlikely we're going to see something like that again however. SWG was risky at the time, and that was before WoW became the standard formula in the minds of mass players. Many things just went right for SWG that wouldn't happen again, least of all it being another time when MMO's hadn't completely flooded the market Noah style. Like WoW it was a perfect storm of ideas, opportunities, and luck.
They fucked it up. 42,000 Gold for a horse sounds like mobile game crap. What an obvious money grab.
I got the 42k mount at level 35, after 1½ weeks or so. I don't see the problem here.
Played the beta for this game with some guys from the college I go to and I have to say I would not play it if the game was free. I always like to hold out hope for games if I have not played them and once I played this I was really disappointed. I will say however the soundtrack is a good listen if you like that kind of music. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTlEppk57Ac If I would have to pick any they would be: 14. Moth, Butterfly, and Torchbug (42:26) (good once it gets into it or towards the end) 22. Auridon Sunrise (01:06:13) (Not too fond of the beginning another one I like later on) 24. Greenheart (01:13:34) (This is quite good all around) 32. Rik Schaffer - The Heart of Nirn (01:37:06) (Another good one after a minute or two) 34. Stendarr's Mercy (01:44:53) (Another good all rounder) 37. Alas, the Dragon Shall Break (01:53:24) (Great once it gets into it) 46. Tides of the Abecean Sea (02:27:49) (Just a nice listen )
the moment i heard that a argonian in the game is dying from poison while openly praising sithis, thats when i knew the game was shit.
To be fair, it's well known that Sithis is part of the Argonian pantheon. Not that excuses the rest of the total bullshit mind you.
The whole OST is on spotify, don't even need the game.
