Let's say you don't give a shit about the well being of animals and the sight of hummus makes you want to slap a hippie in the face. There are ton of environmental veg*ns that do it because the meat and diary industry is horrible strain on our earth. Most of you should honestly let go of your perceived notions of veg*ns and do some light reading about it. If you know that something is terrible for animals and the environment, then why is it so weird for you that some people are actively trying to make a change? You guys don't whine when liberals want to keep the internet free or want to keep TTIP at bay, but that is only because you understand the consequences. If you want to do more than just flinging shit over the fence, just take a few minutes and read up on so commonly used fallacies when talking about veganism and vegetarianism. the only reason to logically disagree with live farm meat is the resources it takes to obtane and preserve vs grown meat.
Ethically, my dad has worked in food sales all his life with large companies ranging from Quaker to Golden Grain to Sara Lee to Gallo. He knows what the factories they make all the food in are like, and while safety and quality standards have never been an issue they're still basically huge slaughterhouses to him. He thinks if you can make a product that tastes exactly the same as the real stuff without killing animals, why not? I am not a vegan.
Did it make your dad go vegetarian or vegan? Or has he tried to cut down his animal products?
I can't call something without meat in it a proper meal. Although I've tried some of these meat substitutes and I must say they are doing a fine job. I could survive on it if I had to.
Same here. In the words of Louis C.K., "Something has to die 3 times a day so I can enjoy my meals."
Did it make your dad go vegetarian or vegan? Or has he tried to cut down his animal products?
He isn't a full vegan. I'm sure he isn't trying to be either. I made some baller chicken and pesto cream sauce and he loved it. We live near Boulder, CO and since we've lived here he has done a lot of work in the organic food industry and met people who are (one of his good friends is actually vegan and has been for like five years) so he is a big believer in making food as ethically as possible, as healthy as possible, with as little waste as possible. This kind of company is kind of up his alley.
