Console players still need a PC around the house to do non-gaming related things. That means they likely need two displays, one for their PC and one for their console. That's a good amount of money flying around already. I'd say you would save a lot by making an all-in-one workstation/gaming PC that does everything for you. Think about it, take the money that you spent on that console and put it into your PC and you have your gaming system.

They both have their uses. The xbox is better for parties and social events, and you don't have to worry about system specs, so it's good for casual gamers. PC's are much better for experienced users, however.

You don't get stuck with nonfunctional steam offline mode, get strange connection issues every time you want to just try and god damn play the damn game, get stuck in patching limbo of a million strange downloads that don't work, have your computer inexplicably be unable to connect to X other computer for peer to peer mp, and all such similar random issues out of nowhere. You don't have to deal with modded servers and servers that ban you for standing still for 5 seconds, standing in the wrong spot, playing the game, the weather, and anything really. Or strange servers entirely dedicated to standing around (seriously I saw this in bf2 wtf), idling for shit, and whatever. None of that.
You gotta give the consoles that, while they aren't entirely free from issues, they most of the time just god damn work. You pop in the disc, you automagically download whatever updates, you press play, you may have to wait a bit because amtchmaking can be slowass fuck. But then, you'll be damn well playing the damn game exactly as it is, the way you wanted to. No hassle.

I have a 600$ pc and I never had to look at system specs. as long as your pc isnt 10 years old you should be able to play any game. btw my 600$ can play at the same level as my ps3 and with a 100$ graphic card I hope to get for christmass it will be able to play 4.2 times that much.
not to say I dont like my ps3

It's much easier for a lot of casual gamers/people who don't know much about PCs to just get a $200-$300 xbox and call it good.
