People go to K-Mart? [editline]30th April 2017[/editline] I've only been to our "local" K-Mart once in my life, and it was a complete shithole. Though they did have an old Genesis-era Sega-branded display case over in the media section full of games. I kinda wanted it.
seeing all that is just depressing. walmart looks 100 times better than that.
On stores looking depressing: My local ALDI just did a little redesign, from it's regular light/dark blue with hints of orange, to black and silver and brushed steel textures. It's feels really cold and unwelcoming now.
Visiting the local K-Mart here is an experience. It's like an abandoned building that is somehow still occupied. The entire electronics section is so sad. It's like 3 vacuum cleaners and a bunch of cords for random devices. :v:
Our Kmart closed couple years ago. I stopped going because ceiling tiles literally fell right in front of me in the grocery isle. Nearing their death though, i did pick up some $100 nerf guns for my nephews for $10.
The only reason I shop at the local K-Mart is because the phamacy is pretty well-managed. It's painless to go there every few weeks, get my meds, and be rewarded with a ten dollar gift card after every four refills.
Even as a kid, I thought k-mart was boring. They rarely had any of the cool toys or games that I wanted.
That K mart looks precisly like a Dollar Tree :v:
I think you mean Dollar General? Dollar Tree has lots of green inside.
They shut down the very first kmart this year. Even their original location looked like dog shit most of the time.
I think you mean Dollar General? Dollar Tree has lots of green inside.
Definitely gotta be Dollar General. The only reason I go there is because it's like a walk away and they usually have what I need.
There was a Woolworths over here that hadn't been renovated since the 90's because the company didn't value it, it closed early this year. Kmart over here looks fucking superb Very welcoming, well stocked, great prices, good staff, everything is placed properly, the clothing section is diverse and cheap Even the entrance already gives off a good vibe, most Kmarts have a wide entrance and don't have much there so consumers aren't immediately flooded with products which to some can be overwhelming Kmart in America looks like it's 1993 all year, every year
For anyone who's wondering: Kmart Australia has been separate from Kmart since the 70s. Which is probably why they're doing so well.
The closest Kmart near me closed a few years ago and was turned into an indoor go kart track.
Looking at American shop design makes me realise how similar all of our supermarkets look. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, even Waitrose, all kind of look the same, but with some different colours on their marketing and stuff.
I rarely see Kmarts around here but there is one across the street from a record store I frequent and I sometimes pop in to see if they have any of the newest Star Wars figures I like to collect. The place seems to be doing fine but it definitely feels off when I go in like its from a different time. Also doesn't help that I found these on a peg last time I was there [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/X0JK1Li.jpg[/img_thumb]
Hearing the beeping echo through the empty store was eerie.
Hearing the beeping echo through the empty store was eerie.
watch this one by him Same beeping noise and this store has been closed since 2002 So for 13 years (video released in 2015) that eerie, basic beep has been making noise for 13 years, with nobody really hearing it It's the only life left in this abandoned store, it's kind of fucked also this dudes videos are really good, thanks for showing me him
Relevant to the above video. It also explains why there is still merchandise in that abandoned Ames.
There is one K-mart in MN left. Known as "that fucking K-mart" in downtown minneapolis. Most thrift stores are cleaner than the last time I saw that place
