Single best opening cinematic I have ever seen in a game. Binged it all day, gameplay feels unreasonably good.
Keyboard is actually fine, if you get used to "you dodge towards the mouse cursor". But that's my opinion :v:
Its jarring to watch my character facing on direction to suddenly dash in the other.
Wait, [sp]Bird Pope[/sp] was the first boss? I thought it was that [sp]Beardy Cat Knight (otherwise known as "The Hanged Man" according to the Trading Cards)[/sp]?
There is technically no "first" boss, since you can complete North, East or West in any order (you need to complete them before you can go South though), however I think most people seem to go North first, probably because the thing on your table at your home highlights the North diamond.
Wait, [sp]Bird Pope[/sp] was the first boss? I thought it was that [sp]Beardy Cat Knight (otherwise known as "The Hanged Man" according to the Trading Cards)[/sp]? Did you find [sp]Bird Pope[/sp] in the northern lands? 'cause I first travelled to the western forest, beat the [sp]Hanged Man[/sp], and now I'm shooting frogs in the eastern ruins. Speaking of which HOLY FUCK the story gets fucking grim in the eastern ruins. If you've gotten that far, you know what I'm talking about. You've seen what they did to [sp]the white otter people[/sp] JESUS CHRIST. Yup, this is certainly a world I'm getting dragged into. And hot-damn is it a challenge. Although I would like it if I could make the cursor indicator thingy stand out a bit more. Anything in the files that could help?
I've just reached the South Lands. [sp]Bird Pope[/sp] is a jokey name I came up with because I didn't know he was called [sp]"The Hierophant"[/sp]. :v: The order I've played in is North > East > West. I'd actually recommend this order as it introduces things at a very good pace through the boss fights and such. [sp]The Hanged Man[/sp] as the first boss is sadistically difficult, the only thing that made him tolerable for me was the fact I had the [sp]shotgun and that mincemeats boss health like nothing.[/sp] Those Eastern ruins were holy shit levels of grim and unsettling. By far the one of the most memorable locations I've ever played in a game.
I've been debating on getting this but I've heard the gameplay is like 4-ish hours long for a full runthrough? Is the game worth a full 20 bucks or should I wait for a sale?

I just hate getting burned by games where you barely get any play time out of a purchase. Also how is the replayability if anyone knows? I heard there's a new game+ if you do beat the game but is it just the same enemies again with more/same health or are there any changes at all

I'm about 6 hours in and I've only just reached the South lands (you can only get here by beating the the other 3 levels)

My first run took me about 10-11 hours, and I took my time and tried looking for secrets. Now I'm going back and seeing that I still missed a ton of stuff.
i cant wait to see speed runs ofthe game at SGDQ
i got some weird evangelion vibes from this i want to know more about those 3 dying giant things
Too bloody right. Were they originally defence systems for this land, or were they summoned/created by what happened in the prologue? We'll probably find out later on... Also, I'm amazed that I just so happened to stumble upon the hardest of the early-game bosses as my first bossfight. No sodding wonder I got dunked on like that! But I guess I can take some solace in the other bosses being a little easier, right? Man, what a way to start my adventure... Also also, should we move this to Games Discussion, since we're getting more and more into the discussion side of things?
I can put together a general thread for the game. [editline]4th April 2016[/editline] What's a good thread name though? I only have bad ideas like: "Hyper Light Drifter - Like Skyrim But With Guns"
Maybe something like "Hyper Light Drifter v1: Neon Genesis Zelda"? Or maybe "Hyper Light Drifter: Brother, Can You Spare A Gearbit?"
"Hyper Light Drifter - Prepare to Chain-Dash Edition"
That fucking chain dash challenge is the worst :v: I've managed 601 dashes, but i can't get to 800 or whatever it requires. [editline]4th April 2016[/editline] https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1513231&p=50066521#post50066521

9.5 hours for first run while still looking for secrets and whatnot. The south area I found strangely easy. Anyone else find that or was it just me?
What kind of controller support is there? Is it Xbox 360 controller only, or is it some generic 12 button thing that I can just plug in any old controller and have it work?
