Except we know that it's being worked on.
Do we? I thought they've hinted numerous times that most people at Valve aren't interested in developing Half-Life and instead work on Dota.
I wish everyone wouldn't get so uppity about Half Life 3, and then proceed to bitch about what Valve wants to do instead of Half Life. They're allowed to do what they want to do, stop being so fucking entitled.
Sorry for feeling entitled to a conclusion of a story they promised us what, 7-8 years ago? I honestly lost track. "We chose to make episodic installments so that there won't be a lot of time between games"
Do we? I thought they've hinted numerous times that most people at Valve aren't interested in developing Half-Life and instead work on Dota.
I'm fairly sure I read this somewhere aswell. Something about provisions and a lot of creative freedom in the dota development.
Maybe I'm missing something but it felt like the kid was just trying to make a joke but it didn't work.

If someone wants HL3 instead of whatever else they're working on I don't see why they can't say that. "Entitled" lost all meaning on the internet a while ago.
yep the gamers are entitled for wanting something that was promised to them, got it
I believe it was a trilogy of half life 2 episodes that were promised, not 2 episodes and and a fully fledged sequel. People seem to assume that it has to be a full length title now because an arbitrary period of time has passed. That's pretty entitled if you ask me.
I'm not excited for Half-Life 3, simply because there is nothing to be excited about at this point. If or when Valve decides to announce it, and if it looks good, then I'll get excited.

If they release Source 2 fully (not dota2) with left 4 dead 3 I will hate valve forever, no offense but l4d is completely shit I am sickened and tired of mindless zombie games.
If they release Source 2 fully (not dota2) with left 4 dead 3 I will hate valve forever, no offense but l4d is completely shit I am sickened and tired of mindless zombie games.
Well too bad cause that's exactly what's gonna happen. L4D3's almost done whereas HL3's fate is still unknown.

So it's not because it's been too long for EP3. It's just that there is no references in any valve data to suggest an EP3 but there are references to HL3.

Content Creation, improved AI Director, Rubikon physics, level-streaming etc.

Probably just a joke or just fucking with people, dont take it seriously
EDIT: What I find interesting though is when you look at the guy who tells his kid to not talk about it, look into his eyes and his hands, he seemed pretty mad for a split second
Isn't this miniwheat, the same kid who referenced the You're a Kid/Squid now meme during the nintendo championships? I'm pretty sure he knows the hype surrounding HL3 and is fucking around.
thats a lie and you know, you would totally buy it.
but what would it actually bring to the table to make it worth buying though, other than the fact that it's Half Life 3? i mean just in this year you've got Doom 4, Phantom Pain, and Fallout 4 - games with a unique hook or approach or innovation. how does valve plan to match that (and whatever other games come out in the intervening time) when hl2's gameplay stopped being relevant over eight years ago? people aren't wowed by the series's staples anymore. i mean obviously everyone else is gonna buy it, so this is just my own personal reasoning here. i just honestly don't expect to be getting it is all.

HL2 is still fun to play, and if ever Valve do show HL3 it'll almost definitely not just fall back on the old staples.
If they release Source 2 fully (not dota2) with left 4 dead 3 I will hate valve forever, no offense but l4d is completely shit I am sickened and tired of mindless zombie games.
L4D3 is gonna be its flagship Source 2 game unless Dota 2 magically looks fucking incredible but I doubt it due to its artstyle, not the best game to show your engines power. Plus L4D isnt exactly the type of zombie game id call mindless or the type of zombie game we get ever. Its pretty unique and good.
How can its gameplay stop being "relevant"? HL2 is still fun to play, and if ever Valve do show HL3 it'll almost definitely not just fall back on the old staples.
i mean relevant in the sense that's it's very bland in a way that was more acceptable at the time it came out, but now probably wouldn't be. going back to it, it just lacks a lot of substance imho. obviously that's not unfixable, i'm just saying that there's stiff competition and they're going to need to bring a lot more to it if i'm going to justify a purchase - with how long it's been and how many good-looking shooter games are coming out (and surely will come out next year), i just don't think the Half Life name is really worth much at this point.
Valve's too busy making money off steam and dota 2 anyways, we don't even know if a HL3 is even in the works at the moment I really fucking hate how quiet Valve is, and it's actually starting to make me hate the company as a whole. I don't want to get to that point.
Didn't they pretty much say it wasn't in the works? [editline]16th June 2015[/editline]
I believe it was a trilogy of half life 2 episodes that were promised, not 2 episodes and and a fully fledged sequel. No, HL3 is most likely not in the works. Each Valve game has brought something new. They don't have that "thing" right now. You might say their VR product is that thing but I don't think HL would really work with it. I'd rather have them create a whole new IP for their VR product.
"The only reason we'd go back and do like a super classic kind of product is if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve said they wanted to do it and had a reasonable explanation for why [they did]," he said. "But you know if you want to do another Half-Life game and you want to ignore everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and in shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice. So we'll keep moving forward. But that doesn't necessarily always mean what people are worried that it might mean." Frankly I'd be a lot more enthusiastic for a new Left 4 Dead than Half Life. It's always had a much greater appeal to me than Half Life.
thats a lie and you know, you would totally buy it.
Why is it such a travesty that I wouldn't? Honestly if they promote it well enough I might buy it, but not "because it's half life 3." The series was never good enough in my opinion to warrant day one purchases anyway. I'll still wait for the reviews.
