Actually, when you buy it it converts the Euro price to USD. It actually charges you $26.95. People just like to round that number up.
And if they had changed the graphics there would be an enormous fan backlash.

no I'm pretty sure the AI is just shitty

Neither of those are legit reason for why those things should be bad.

I made better AI in klik&play when I was a kid. Simple doesn't mean "so fucking dumb it falls into lava if you're behind it". AI in doom was simple and it's pretty much what we'd want to see.
The graphics look bad. It should look better but it should also have the old default as an included texture pack for everyone who thinks the game looks perfect now and just couldn't bear to admit it could look better.
There is nothing wrong with adding pointless fun things only if it doesn't mean not putting non-pointless fun things, that were promised to be added.

That's pretty much the whole issue with this game
Notch does something stupid and even says he'll fix it later and then gets away by saying "oh its supposed to be like that"
I love being able to say I disliked Notch before it was cool. Didn't have any real reason for, other than thinking "he seems like a bit of a dick". Now I have a legitimate reason.
Everyone seems to be disappointed and angry that Notch took their money and didn't do as much as they expected him to do with it, but personally I don't think you should've been buying promises in the first place.
When I ponied up the $13 during Infdev, I was paying for Infdev. I thought the Infdev stage of Minecraft already offered more hours of gameplay than most other games coming out at the time and it was definitely worth $13. Anything added after that point only sweetened the deal for me. I don't see it as money wasted, I see it as my money being stretched far beyond the original value. Multiplayer survival alone made everything worth it - I've had way more fun with that than I have with any other online multiplayer game in the past year, save for maybe Team Fortress 2 (which I consider to be yet another game that's stretching my dollar...and also has tons of people bitching about it).
I can definitely see why some people are complaining about the final 1.0.0 version...because now you would be paying $26 for a 'complete' package. The current feature set is what you get and if you don't like it, then it isn't worth your money. Don't buy it if the current set of features isn't worth $26 to you.
But most of the people I've talked to who are complaining about how 1.0.0 turned out are people who bought it waaay back when it was $13. They loved the shit out of it back then and we've had a great year of multiplayer fun. I don't understand why, now that it's called "1.0.0", it's suddenly a waste of that $13 you paid over a year ago and Notch is considered a jew who made you poor. You shouldn't have payed for promises and rumors, you should've payed for what Minecraft was at the time you paid for it.
Bottom line: If you haven't bought Minecraft yet and you think 1.0.0 isn't worth $26, then don't buy it! It's obviously not worth it! If you bought Minecraft ages ago and are only just now getting mad that Minecraft isn't what you thought it would be, then that's your own problem. I don't know why you'd pay $13 for Indev/Infdev if you thought it was shit back then.
I bought it in alpha phase for one reason and one reason only: so I wouldn't have to pay for future updates.
Notch got ownt.
Annotations are so annoying.
Minecraft distracts me from bigger games I should be playing.
Wow. The most accurate minecraft review on the web was done by a man named ROCKCOCK64.
And shit the game is 30 fucking dollars?! FUCK. I love the game, but that's absolutely ridiculous, what with all the broken and half-assed features.
And I am so glad they mentioned Infiniminer. I used to play that game all the time until he dropped support for it. And then Notch ripped it off and suddenly he's the God of Independent video games...
I bought it in alpha phase for one reason and one reason only: so I wouldn't have to pay for future updates.
i bought it in indev for floating (when infdev was out but not as good as indev)
now we dont even have a floating dimension
Ahh.
But really, Terraria is doing a great job at adding to the game. I wish Minecraft had the same amount of content. I know it's 3D with unlimited worlds, but Terraria just has a really good combat system, items, and equipment. And just TONS of "stuff"
Sucks it does not have any linux support for their servers.
Whilst I do enjoy Minecraft, the reviewer has genuinely agreeable points.

I'll agree with you. It may not be the grandest game, but it sure is fun. Playing multiplayer lets me be creative like I was in Garry's Mod with friends online. I used to play Wurm a lot but after finding a good online survival server, forming towns and progressing isn't as time consuming as it is in Wurm. Notch used to work on Wurm anyway so he knows a good formula.
Actually the artist wanted to turn Steve into some anime Frog girl and do other unfitting things. But yeah I agree with you that we need some better graphics.
I agree with all these videos here, but at the same time I still enjoy minecraft. It could be much better though if someone else invented minecraft (damn, what if Jeb actually created minecraft, how would that turn out!)

No it didn't. It was supposed to have a lot of other stuff.
[editline]26th November 2011[/editline]
I remember when Terraria and fortress craft came out. People where just yelling and complaining that it was a copy of minecraft. But fortress craft and Terraria are no more a copy of minecraft then minecraft is a copy of Infimner and mods.
No it didn't. It was supposed to have a lot of other stuff.

I'd say Minecraft is even more of a copy, the gameplay's closer to Infiniminer than Terraria is to Minecraft.
Facepunch, I am disappointed

I only have 11 hours put into Terraria. So many people were complaining it was a 2D Minecraft, but whenever I played it, I played it like I play Minecraft and I later found out that's not the right way. I'll need to start playing that game again, I like the look of the new update.
All of these games are a ripoff of Manic Digger though
Is that...Ape Escape music in the background?
I swear it is
Also crash bandicoot at some parts.
i heard the neverhood in the end
I think when I started playing during indev I was more enthralled with how much COULD be. Each update made me excited and the secret friday updates were so exciting to watch unfold. And now it just is a let down for me. I honestly hope that the game just dies off. I have had hundreds of hours of game time put in but I just don't care for the same game anymore. I want the game that I wanted to play, not the game that is available to me.
All of these games are a ripoff of Manic Digger though
I just looked at a video on YouTube of Manic Digger.
That was painful to watch.
So much hate all of a sudden. Notch did have a lucky streak in the beginning, which couldn't last for too long (seeing as how the ending, which shouldn't even need to exist, is pretty damn shitty). The 'features that were promised' isn't anything I can hold Notch to either: it was an unfinished game. In game development you drop and add features all the time. I don't really mind the graphics, you can easily mod all that.
And that's what needs to be the next step for Minecraft: modding. There needs to be a mod that is to Minecraft what Garry's Mod is to the Source engine: an easy way for scripters to modify both the client and server code without having to mess with the game files. Without forcing clients to install additional stuff manually.
So much hate all of a sudden.
Its not really sudden, a lot of people have hated theway Notch handles things for a long time now.

Everyone's a critic. I think Notch did pretty ok. He's not the next Carmack or Molyneux or anything like that, but he still made this game. We all want to Minecraft to show its full potential, but everyone has different ideas on how to do that, and so does Notch.
