Why is GoPro so cheap when compared to other cameras on the market?
Maybe I will buy this camera instead of a Canon DSLR camera.

This is from a Hero3 Black Edition, the photographic value of the camera isn't that great. It's the best sports/adventure camera out there for sure though

I love GoPro, but it sucks that they keep raising the price of their top end model, it's gonna cost about 400-500$, 480 euro's where I live ($600).
On the other hand, They are introducing a budget model, the Hero! It's gonna be way waaaay cheaper!

4k actually doesn't take a ton of space. I can take 2 hours of 100mb/s 4k video on a 128gb sd card, and I assume the gopros might compress it a little more than DSLRs and cine cameras

the $400 GoPro Hero 4 has a built-in touch screen (but that version shoots in only 1080p)

The problem I always see with real. non-commercial footage is the shakiness.
These might be taken with GPH4s but they are sure as fuck on some special mount.
I've always wanted a gopro but i don't go outside much to warrant buying one.

Some look like steady cam / drone / jib crane
Also 4k allows you to stabilize footage in post easier

definitely are the best "action" cams you can buy. really good bang for your buck
but you want to have cinematic depth of field, rack focuses, ect, you need a full-on DSLR/cine lens or cine camera

ALSO a slightly less-known fact is that downsampling 4k footage into HD actually looks way better than native HD. Sort of like downsampling PC games
It's kinda implied that everything in the commercial was shot with a GoPro, but I must admit that I have a hard time believing that - seems like they were splicing GoPro footage with other footage.
Anyway, looks amazing - especially the iceberg climbing.

You´re using the HTML5 Player. It does not support resolution above 1280*720.
These commercials are so awesome but the fact of the matter is you will literally never do anything as awesome as these people, and even if you do you won't have these amazing angles and rigs. This commercial cost millions of dollars to make.
What you get is some really shakey footage of your amateur hiking, biking, wakeboarding, whatever. Then it runs out of space/battery after getting like 30 minutes of footage. The angles are all crud and the motion blur and the shakiness makes it look super lame.

Remember that the advert is a highlight reel of like 100 people, not one person.
You don't have to be rich to go to festivals like Tomorrowland or watch the sunset from the beach, etc.

Optics aren't too good, and it's basically a lens, sensor, and some electronics. Designed for basically one purpose. Video at high FPS and to take a beating.
Little off-topic, but is anyone else just astounded at how high quality videos are now compared to 5 years ago?
