It is only $30 right now on Steam, yet it has such shit reviews (from here). Is it worth it if I have no friends on Steam that play it?
GTA 5 is worth it for the single player if you havn't played it already.
Online kinda sucks due to the grindfest/hackers but it has it's moments. There's definately games with worse grinding.
Generally excessive grinding is in Free to play games.
But rockstar made a full priced game with MMO tier grinding in online ;)
Fucking ridiculous, rockstar fucked up with Online.
I mean the free updates are cool but not when you have to spend $1 million just for a warehouse + excessive amounts for the vehicles.
well, thats what you should expect from a corrupt company who would cheat their lead designer out of millions
This looks like a fun update. While I don't play online anymore due to it only being a grind. I use one of the mods to let me spawn in the vehicles into single player. I find in it just as fun to mess with the NPCs for a bit. The fact I don't have to spend time grinding for the stuff is also a plus.

It's still a big ole singleplayer story / sandbox game, there's more than enough content for $30.
There's also a fair number of mods around too. LSPD being one of the most popular ones i can think of.
Multiplayer is something i'll only suggest playing if you got a private lobby and mates to play it with.

if you're getting it for the multiplayer, don't bother. it's the definition of anti-fun.
if you don't mind playing the singleplayer alone, it's not too bad, but personally i always preferred the other games to it instead. tho most of them have shit ports and V doesn't, so there's that, and mods certainly help if you ever get bored.
MP is no fun because you get shit on by people who have hundreds of millions of dollars and just troll around killing everyone they see. When I joined it was just loads of people driving around in that fucking APC killing EVERYONE.
Good luck getting any money without grinding or buying fucking shark cards and have fun not getting much money anyway because nobody plays the fun stuff and the populated matches prolly have at least 1 hacker.
And god forbid you accidentally run someone over because they will make it their life mission to hunt you down and kill repeatedly.

Also everyone take heists way too fucking seriously which makes them just frustrating as opposed to fun.
God, Feel the Same is such a sick song
it's a pretty fucked up scheme if you think about it.
completely free updates? cool! have to pay 5 million gta bucks to get the content of that updates? ehh. then the gta bucks get harder and harder to obtain with each update? dude what.
imagine someone just joining GTA 2 years down the line and being left behind all of his friends for 3 weeks while he grinds cash, or else pays upwards to $50 extra real life bucks to catch up.
Jokes on R* you can just wait like a day or 2 after the updates for the SP mod menus to update and then spawn all of this shit for free in SP
Saved so much GTAO money by doing this

Except the biker update lets you invest in businesses that pay for themselves extremely quickly and only require a supply mission occasionally. You're also ignoring the fact that CEO work, adversary modes, races and event playlists can get you huge cash gains for relatively no effort.
It's getting easier

The CEO and biker missions are essentially the same thing, gather resources, wait a bit, gather more resources, wait a bit, sell, rinse and repeat.
I mean yeah they pay relatively well so if you play with friends it's possible to get a million in a couple of hours, but it's still far from enough IMO

Amphibious Jetski trikes seem pretty military-grade to me.
