This was my favourite series on the old G4TV network. It was all about detailing the history of different video game aspects, characters, companies, etc. Youtube still has a bunch of videos of them before they moved to general pop culture and tanked.
oh man this was the best series
Also remember when X-play didn't suck?

I give the modern X-Play a one, out of five.
But yeah, I remember back when the channel was TechTV, and they focused on gaming and computers and stuff. The G4 merger wasn't too bad at first, as things like Electronic Playground, Icons, Cinematech and the older X-Play were still pretty good. Now it just tries to be edgy to attract most teens with pop culture shit and Olivia.
Watching this again really puts the current G4TV in shame, really.
I miss Icons and Cinematech.

Every summer i looked forward to going down to my aunt's beach house, not for the beach, but because she had satellite tv with g4. I wanted to go down there all year just so i could watch cinematech, i loved it.
This was a pretty amazing show.
I didn't even mind the new G4 for a while because one summer there was something known as G4 rewind, where they would show all these old shows and it was absolutely amazing.
Now it mostly show cops and Ninja Warrior reruns rather than coming up with original content.
Cinematech was the shit.
Cinematech and Icons were glorious shows. Oh, and don't forget the Arena.

Nice avatar.
Cinematech as I remember it was just like 30 minutes of video game trailers.
Am I remembering it wrong or what?
Why did people like it so much?

Because it was 20 minutes of video game trailers.
I liked Arena and Cinematech.
I also liked watching X-Play for the Bob & Steve Splinter Cell videos. I had all of them downloaded on my MP4 player :v:
I also really liked Ninja Warrior.
