I wonder if this movie flops will that be the end to sony pictures ? because lately everything els is a failure
The emoji movie will save them!
James Rolfe has the right idea. Don't bother getting tickets. Don't give Sony your money. Those tickets are proof of evidence that this crime scene of a movie is still salvageable. They want you to go see the body, but you need dough to get past the caution tape.
What we really need is an angry birds ghostbusters crossover [t]http://pre07.deviantart.net/fffe/th/pre/f/2014/078/d/d/1979251_1431921297050361_718643865_o_by_t_rexjones-d7aship.jpg[/t] I... oh...
[DEL]As a favorite costumer of IDW for the Transformers comics, thank fuck this is only a phase. It'll die in a month, and the current storyline stays like nothing happened.[/DEL] Scratch that, it's a variant cover.
Amazing that you think I hate it because of it's all female cast, but that's not at all the case. It's nice of you to assume off that bad that I'm just another dumb sexist though. Thanks for misjudging me. I love the idea of an all female cast, but this is embarrassing. The trailer clearly shows how much the movie jokes about them being females, and it makes it extremely uncomfortable Instead of having a really powerful female lead, someone who is strong willed, intelligent, and bold [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3c/Janeway_Season7.jpg[/t] (Janeway is easily the 2nd best captain out there, don't care what other people think. She is a model leader, and better than Kirk) they have female leads that just reinforce really terrible stereotypes. "Just look at that BLACK PERSON acting all black, haha, isn't that FUNNY?!" The reason I think the movie is an embarrassment is because everything I've heard about it makes it seem like it's in development hell and ignores the source material outright. Hell, the source material doesn't even play on their gender, they're just a bunch of awkward dudes. The reboot's trailers alone blatantly shows how much they play on the characters gender and makes it this big thing. Funny that you would complain about people judging based on a trailer and then also judge people based on 1 post.
Janeway was pretty terrible of a captain to alot of people including me. She was inconsistent as fuck with the prime directive.
How long until some asshat feminist defends this movie
.
wafflemonstr doesn't count not nearly reactionary and knee jerky enough
How long until some asshat feminist defends this movie
no offense dude but it just seems like you're just itching to get into some retarded internet argument about a dumb ass movie, relax
Janeway was pretty terrible of a captain to alot of people including me. She was inconsistent as fuck with the prime directive.
I'm reminded of something Bennett the Sage once said about her. Bitch would betray the prime directive for a peanut butter sandwich.
:snip: wrong thread
I was thinking about checking out the ghostbusters comics at some point. Not going to now.
It's a variant cover because IDW also makes the Angry Birds comics. Their Ghostbusters comics are seriously some of the best shit ever, it takes the movies, cartoons, and video games and mixes it all together into the same canon. Characters are given more personality, plot lines from the source material are built upon, and they cross over not only with The Real Ghostbusters, but also with the fucking Ninja Turtles. It's an amazing read and feels like the kinda thing that this new movie SHOULD have been, I really highly recommend you check it out (as if that wasn't clear already). [editline]18th May 2016[/editline]
The sad thing is, there's a rumor going around that Melissa McCarthy only joined on because she thought it was going to be in the same vein as the show and pushed for it until she got shot down by everyone. Shame it didn't end up that way
I seriously never expected Melissa McCarthy of all people to be the downtrodden hero of this movie's production, constantly pushing it to be something good but getting shut down behind the scenes.
no offense dude but it just seems like you're just itching to get into some retarded internet argument about a dumb ass movie, relax
idk I'm more interested in reading twitter comments about it than responding by now there's plenty of crazy stuff people say about a lot of things
Reminder that, thanks to the leaked Sony emails, we know that they basically blackmailed Bill Murray (the guy who constantly turned down Ghostbusters 3 scripts written by friend and collaborator Dan Aykroyd) into agreeing to cameo and giving it his seal of approval.

I haven't read the Ghostbusters comics, but IDW does a hella amazing job with these classic licenses from TMNT to G.I. Joe to Transformers. Why hasn't Hollywood based the movies off these universes we'll never know.
I'm reminded of something Bennett the Sage once said about her. Bitch would betray the prime directive for a peanut butter sandwich.
She literally kills a new lifeform that desperately wanted to live so she could get her friend back. I actually kind of liked her willingness to bend the directive until she decided straight up murder was ok.
The emoji movie will save them!
please, dont remind of that abomination
Janeway was pretty terrible of a captain to alot of people including me. She was inconsistent as fuck with the prime directive.
Janeway led to the SFDebris version of Janeway, who's the best captain of all.
What a slap to the face.
All the debate about this movie is insane because it looks so mindblowingly average And yet it's become a battleground of gender politics
I can't wait for this movie to come out so people will finally shut the hell up about it
The emoji movie will save them!
It's being directed by the dudes who did the LEGO Movie and have a track record for taking idiotic ideas and making them work. The fact that I've got more faith in an Emoji movie than I do in a new Ghostbusters really shows the importance of having the right people working on your project.
idk I'm more interested in reading twitter comments about it than responding by now there's plenty of crazy stuff people say about a lot of things
eh gonna be honest, i think what Swiket said summarizes how i feel the most about the whole thing
This looks way too mediocre to justify the passionate hate and passionate defense this movie is getting.

eh gonna be honest, i think what Swiket said summarizes how i feel the most about the whole thing
to be honest, I don't think anyone would give a shit if this movie didn't have the ghostbusters title card it's a movie that's under average looking and no one will remember like the originals, but the fact that it's trying to overshadow a legacy is causing all of the hate
It's being directed by the dudes who did the LEGO Movie and have a track record for taking idiotic ideas and making them work. Emojis not so much because their only job is to display one emotion. If you are going to make the do more then the emotion it is displaying. Then you no longer have an Emoji. You have a face without a body. Back to the Ghostbusters movie. They shouldn't have done it with the Ghostbusters brand plain and simple. It could have been just any ol' generic comedy. But nope they had to use the nostalgia factor to get some cash out of a movie they already know is going to do terribly.
I can't wait for this movie to come out so people will finally shut the hell up about it
I'm anticipating Batman V Superman levels of erratic defense when it does.

Also, I could see them taking the 7 Dwarves/Inside Out approach (here's the angry one, here's the sad one, here's the happy one, etc.) Plot synopsis sounds like a cross between that and Wreck-It Ralph. Dunno if it'll be GOOD, but with Lord and Miller attached, I'm sure it won't be OFFENSIVELY bad.
It's being directed by the dudes who did the LEGO Movie and have a track record for taking idiotic ideas and making them work. The fact that I've got more faith in an Emoji movie than I do in a new Ghostbusters really shows the importance of having the right people working on your project.
Actually its being directed by Anthony Leondis who has directed Lilo and Stitch 2, Igor, a movie about ghosts which is in some sort of development hell, and a kungfu panda straight to dvd movie. The writers have no wiki pages and they didn't work on Lego Movie and neither did the producers and such.
I'm anticipating Batman V Superman levels of erratic defense when it does.
People are too far gone. With each trailer that comes out, I've noticed, the people who don't like it have less to say. Before we got a look at it, there was tons of "THEY'RE DISRESPECTING THE LEGACY BY MAKING IT ALL WOMEN" and shit like that. But now it's like everyone's just tired, taking the James Rolfe approach. "I think this looks like shit. I don't find it funny. I'm not gonna pay to see it." Meanwhile the people defending it are SO vehement in defending it that it becomes sad, if not a little concerning. Is it a sense of denial? Do they feel they owe something to the cast or crew or Paul Feig? It's amazing how the tables have turned. When the movie was first announced, you had so many comments that WERE legitimately sexist, about how a new movie is tainting our childhoods and other retarded shit like that. But now we're getting closer and closer to release and the "rational" side has completely swung to the other end of the horseshoe. You get someone like James stating his opinion in a polite, rational, levelheaded way, and people respond by making blog posts about how he's a pathetic cis white male who doesn't deserve to be married and lives in a basement and has terrible taste in Star Trek movies and also probably smells (in addition to hating women and black people). It seems that whenever this movie is brought up, one side invariably turns to ad hominem and condescending dismissal of opinion quicker than the other. If you say it looks like shit, you get called a sexist or a limp-dicked manbaby. If you explain that it's because you don't like the jokes, you get a reply like "um, sweetie, no" or "you can't prove that you aren't sexist". The only way to emerge unscathed is to say that you like the movie, even if that's a bold-faced lie. This is the first movie-related situation I've seen where people are displaying such a blatant refusal to compromise or attempt to see things from a different perspective; you either like the movie, or you're an irredeemable hunk of shit. [sp]Then again we've also got people sending Patton Oswalt shit about his dead wife over a joke that he later disavowed, so I guess human garbage comes in all forms.[/sp] Sorry about the blog post by the way, but man does this shit have me surprisingly heated. I honestly feel bad about getting so worked up over something as stupid as this movie, it's really not worth it. [editline]18th May 2016[/editline]
Actually its being directed by Anthony Leondis who has directed Lilo and Stitch 2, Igor, a movie about ghosts which is in some sort of development hell, and a kungfu panda straight to dvd movie. My bad I guess!
Imagine being such a dumbass that you judge a movie before it's even out based on some hand-picked clips built for a trailer. It's not even just buzzwords, it's just straight up sexism on everyone's part, even if it is just subconscious sexism, and because of that you don't realise it. Tbh I would defend an all female cast but only if they made it a proper spiritual sequel and recognize the originals fully, where the first busters pass the torch on. Only issue is, it can't be all female because females, it has to make sense I like the idea of the government trying to cover ghosts and ghost busters up as well
Huh, I totally could have sworn Lord and Miller were somehow attached... My bad I guess!
Honestly I thought the same not too long ago, but I think someone somewhere got the info from those sony leaks mixed up. Lord and Miller are working on the MIB reboot/Jump Street thing but only as producers I think, and that was mentioned in the leaks.
Tbh I would defend an all female cast but only if they made it a proper spiritual sequel and recognize the originals fully, where the first busters pass the torch on. Only issue is, it can't be all female because females, it has to make sense I like the idea of the government trying to cover ghosts and ghost busters up as well
Like, it would have been so easy to make this a sequel. It's 30 years later. The Ghostbusters have pretty much caught all the ghosts, paranormal shit doesn't happen anymore. They're all retired, Ray watches the containment unit, but then paranormal stuff starts happening again because of the plot and they need to bring in new blood to actually go bust the ghosts since the original crew is too old/too retired/too dead. And then you can give it the tone of 22 Jump Street, where instead of skeptics saying the Ghostbusters are frauds, they say that the whole thing is a publicity stunt, banking on the recognizable brand of a notable institution. They could have done something interesting with this, but it all just feels so manufactured, which is the exact opposite of what the original Ghostbusters was. It just misses the point. Like, the original Robocop was full of blood and gore because it was a commentary on violence in the media; Robocop being a slow, expensive hunk of shit was the point of the movie. But when they remade it, they made it a PG-13 action movie with a sleek, agile Robocop. Same thing with this one; the original Ghostbusters wasn't about ghosts or proton packs or the theme song. It was ad-libbed comedy from a bunch of funny people wrapped around a pretty straightforward plot. You could replace the ghosts with roaches and call it "Exterminators" and it'd be the same movie. The ghosts are just set dressing. But now this new one comes out and it's the most scripted thing ever, with all the marketing putting emphasis on cool gadgets and big budget special effects. I feel confident in saying that Sony just didn't know what they had with this property, which is why it feels so off. You might even say [sp]it's got no soul.[/sp]
dude the voice at the start was horribly mashed up together if you listen closely.
