does this mean we are gonna get a Rick and Morty SU crossover?
Wouldn't mind this at all actually :v:
The intro's artstyle sorta reminds me of these: Also, personally i think that they tried to make something similiar to the credit song of the original PPG But they've put it as the intro instead This is the version from the movie's score
PPG had pretty killer soundtracks:
Indeed, also, i love that album, it's really cool how the transitions from one song to another are basically an audio story
It's not like the intro isn't gonna be ridiculously truncated to the point where we won't even really hear the music
Sorry for the bump, but there's a new preview along with 3 shorts! This actually feels like the Powerpuff girls that I remember.

Why is Professor Utonium the only one with the same voice as the original?
These new previews are great, the humor in them actually gave me a few laughs and the art direction looks nice. Way better impression than the initial preview with the lumberjack villain guy.
Yeah, after does previews I'm way more on board.
Okay wait... So they keep Utonium's voice... they keep the MAYOR'S voice... but totally recast the girls? This has corporate focus-test art-by-committee decision written all over it. I mean, I wouldn't mind if the voices were as distinct, but I swear Blossom and Bubbles sound alike at times. There's not enough contrast here. If you only listened to the video, the only one you could instantly tell apart from the others was Buttercup. I almost wonder if the idea was like, "they're physically and vocally identical, so their personalities and tones make up for it." That sounds like the weird sort of corporate-rethinking. Like, because they're triplets? And twins/triplets are most publicly recognized for being identical even when that's not the case? I dunno, just unnecessary. It's not like we all weren't willing to give the new actresses a chance, but now I'm failing to see the point of that decision.

The writing's pretty good but the art style is still bleh imo.
the new voices still trigger me i can handle everything else, its just, ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh. they didn't even ask the original cast
not the whole version sadly. definitely suggest watching the whole 2-minute one since it's really good all the way through. [editline]15th February 2016[/editline] they even remembered the fucking blood and teeth thing in here [t]http://i.imgur.com/RgrcnG9.jpg[/t]
I thought the reason he knocked over the chemical X was because of Mojojo. Unless the movie is wrong or something.
I thought the reason he knocked over the chemical X was because of Mojojo. Unless the movie is wrong or something.
It was an episode not far into the series that established that Mojo Jojo pushed Professor Utonium, yes, and the movie just expanded on that in a little more detail as an origin story retelling altogether. But either this is rebooting the continuity, or they're just not accommodating for it in the opening seeing as even to the end of the original series they still played the original opening with no alterations that I can remember.
The first episode "Man Up" has premiered in Austin, and Cartoon Network released it to everyone, you can download it on Itunes for free: https://itunes.apple.com/us/tv-season/the-powerpuff-girls-vol.-1/id1084867672?mt=4&ign-mpt=uo%3D4#sf22608176 or watch it here, but it's really low quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9VMPCjgfRM&index=1&list=PLEMbKmS_BTl7lqHfFdWYv0n80O6KQbqQd Personally, i liked it, it's nothing mind blowing and sorta feels like an introduction, but i think it's okay, major villains like Mojo Jojo should get revealed later to hype things up imho There are two things that i didn't like, they've cut the "Sugar, spice and everything nice" dialogue in the intro, and there is no narrator at the start and the end of the episode, i hope they did this in favor of more complex story arcs, it's something that i'd like to see
do i really need itunes to download the episode? [editline]16th March 2016[/editline] hey it wasnt too bad, i liked it. it can only get better
Just finished that 1st episode and managed to watch a pre-air of the 2nd episode. It's pretty good so far.
Personally, i liked it, it's nothing mind blowing and sorta feels like an introduction, but i think it's okay, major villains like Mojo Jojo should get revealed later to hype things up imho There are two things that i didn't like, they've cut the "Sugar, spice and everything nice" dialogue in the intro, and there is no narrator at the start and the end of the episode, i hope they did this in favor of more complex story arcs, it's something that i'd like to see
2nd episode spoilers: [sp]Narrator is present again at start and end of the episode, and Princess Morbucks gets (re)-introduced.[/sp]
Wow, okay, kinda hooked! First few episodes, unsure if a reboot or straight-up continuation, not big plots, and yet a pretty damn solid start! Characterization is really good, I loved that in picking their favorite boy-band member, Blossom picks their manager... ha... Good writing, LOVING the new Buttercup's line delivery... though she's been the focus of most of the episodes so far. Also, show is really fond of the word "butt."

Glad to see that the mayor is the same ol' goofball! Also, i think we should get a proper thread going instead of using this one, seems like this show deserves one
Make one in GD.
I don't get modern cartoon art styles. There's no shading at all.
I don't get modern cartoon art styles. There's no shading at all.
Except the original Powerpuff Girls only did background shading, the characters were intentionally either rounded or angular with no actual shading unless it was a really dramatic moment. My problem is more that the thin line art and the lack of effort with sound mixing makes it seem like cheap animation. But then it's nowhere near as cheap as Johnny Test.
Wow, when you strip back everything that defines their style from those specific characters, ignore any kind of animation or scenery and only compare a single expression they look like they have the same artstyle!
Here, i made Rick from Rick and Morty. Sure looks exactly like the others!
I don't get modern cartoon art styles. There's no shading at all.
That's what the Powerpuff Girls are supposed to look like. How have you people not watched this show as kids?
The original series is on Netflix, FYI
