That's typically how plot development works, yeah.
Convince is find to help push the plot along, but when the plot solely relies on the 'luck of the draw' for things it generally becomes much more cheapened and boring.
Just look at Star Wars prequels everything is conveniently happening just because.

Okay, so as it's clear you don't understand what you're talking about, i'll explain
[sp]In the first film, a virus is designed to fix alzheimers and make people smarter. It was trialed on apes. The virus became airborne, and while it fixes alzheimers it doesn't improve intelligence, and instead started killing people through aneurysms or something similar. The virus would spread between apes and the apes would show greater signs of intelligence, and humans would basically die from it. So globally apes become quite intelligent while humans are devastated by a weaponized virus.[/sp]
Looks absolutely horrible. wtf are you doing gary oldman?!
i never thought i'd see that horrible stock muzzleflash in a serious high budget film

That's actually what muzzle flash looks like.
That's actually what muzzle flash looks like.
it just screams "this took 5 minutes in after effects" though
God that fucking thumbnail though.
For some reason it reminds me of that gif of Mitt Romney shooting a gun and laughing his ass off.

That one.
Why are the apes such douchebags?
Why are the apes such douchebags?
Because they read the script and know they win in the end.
Because they read the script and know they win in the end.
And what's with the battleship? That's not going to do shit against a bunch of apes. They need some chemical weapons along with napalm strikes to finish off those damned dirty apes.

The other film was kind of meh, but I might see this anyway.
If this movie looks stupid to you, then you just don't get it and luckily you also don't have to watch it.
If this movie looks really cool to you, then you do get it and will have a wonderful time when watching it.
I actually am entertained to hear the side of people who don't get this movie. First time I've seen a generation that can't understand PotA.
I haven't seen the previous one. Do they blow up New York or is that going to happen in this one?

I think it's a trilogy so probably the next one.
this movie looks like it will be fine imo

We understand it fine. The problem is that it is a completely ridiculous concept from the Sci-fi age of cinema where literally anything goes, but revived in a way that takes itself far more seriously.
But the concept is so silly that it is hard to move beyond it. If you think this is a lack of understanding of the Planet of the Apes -like it is is anything other than a goofy sci-fi movie with way too many sequels and should be revered- is why people think this looks stupid, than clearly the only person who doesn't get it is you.
Ans that isn't to say that the movie is shit or anything. I liked the first one, despite some of the goofier moments, and I even liked the original. The point, however, is that the concepts these movies deal with aren't very serious or scientific. You really do have to "remove your brain" to enjoy it and just let go. And when the new string of movies tries the same silly concepts but without the same amount of purposeful cheese, it is kind of, well, silly.
I thought this commercial was stupid when I first saw it, but after having seen it a few more times I actually like it.
I mean, it's supposed to be kind of silly in that the ape is acting dumb, but that's just the thing. It's only acting dumb. It's acting like how a pet/circus/show/etc ape would, with it's silly movements and sign language and all that so it can get in close and grab their gun and murder the fuck out of them.
I'm sure in the actual movie it will end up looking better.
I never really liked planet of the apes, thought the whole basis of it was fucking stupid

In the original plotline humanity basically nuked itself in an attempt to stop the apes. It didn't really work all too well. But since the reboot a few years ago, the franchise has been put on a pretty different timeline so some stuff is completely different. Like the whole Alzheimer's cure that's actually extremely dangerous that kills shitloads of humans while making monkeys smarter because they have a stronger immune system. That wasn't in the original films.
The original films involved a ton of timewarping rips in the space-time continuum, and the entire series goes full-circle. It was basically Bioshock Infinite before Bioshock Infinite happened. The end of the fifth movie can transition perfectly to the start of the first movie, and everything happening across the five films happens ad infinitum. It's actually kinda neat.
So far, I liked Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It was a different take on how the apes came to become intelligent. However, in the original movies, the apes were introduced to society and treated like circus animals after they had gained true sentience. This really pissed them off, hence why they basically conquered Earth.
In the reboot, it looks like they start a war with humanity because some of us don't like the idea of highly intelligent and sentient chimpanzees living in their natural habitat. That's not how the original plot went. In the original it was focused on a lot of interesting societal issues, mostly things like equality and civil rights. It had a much deeper meaning, and it was pretty interesting to see chimps and monkeys fighting for their own liberties. It was a really good way to kinda humanize them.
If none of you have seen the originals, watch them. They're actually pretty decent.
look at that muzzle flash
.50 cal m4
michael bay would be proud

You joke, there are certain .50 rounds designed specifically for M4s, though you need to replace your upper
What's with the CG? Tressfx hair looks a lot better than that
apparently (according to the trailers) humanity is devastated by a virus while the monkeys live peacefully in the woods. some humans blame the monkeys for whatever reason and want to kill them so the monkeys fight back
it's not "hey, we're monkeys, let's take over the earth. good thing humanity was just almost wiped out by a virus not too long ago"
The whole uprising situation is fucking stupid to begin with.

Yea I'm not sure what to say. Guilty of a dumb post and PUI. Sorry about your trousers. Im still surprised I wrote this.
I see CGI is still in uncanny valley
I cant wait to see this. If it sucks, it will still be funny probably. If it is really good them, no complaint.
That's actually what muzzle flash looks like.
yeah i'm pretty sure i know what a muzzle flash looks like, and that's clearly a cheap copypasted sprite found in an Adobe AE prefab pack and used by approx 9428456522421727 amateur photoshoppers around the globe, not a real burst of hot gas from a blank round
The first one was still surprisingly good. I have high hopes for this movie.

Up to 9 reviews and all but one are very positive
Not much, but still, hah hah, naysayers
looks ok I guess but why the fuck would they trust one of the apes to begin with, letting him near, etc?

I get the feeling there's a strained desire for peace on both sides, perhaps.
