;37734674']To be honest, all these phones are pretty much made in the same country using the same materials. I read an article on the Daily Mail (pretty shameful I know) about how much it costs Apple to build an iPhone.
"What's the price for an iPhone? UBM calculates the cost of the new device as $167.50 - about £107"
It proceeds to show a table of all the materials and the cost. You truly are paying simply for the label. I hate that so much, but it's not like we can escape it.. We are living in a world run by, and fueled by consumers.
It doesn't matter if you're buying an iPhone, or a Samsung Galaxy, HTC.. whatever. They're all the same in my oppinion!
But all major brand phones are the same price. The iPhone is priced competitively on release.

I'm pretty sure the GS3 costs around $170 to manufacture as well.
At the very least, I can't imagine that it's expensive to manufacture compared to the iPhone. Probably in the same range

It'll be a cold day in hell when I can afford to do that.
Not going to lie, phone touching is kinda gay.
didn't they do this before?

I regret buying Garry's Mod.

You need to cover the hiring of all hardware/software professionals worked on anything related to the device ever, among other things. Of course it's going to sound crazy if you just ignore everything except the material and building costs.

You're wasting a lot of money then. I don't care if you're financially well to do, you still shouldn't just throw money around for something slightly newer when you have a perfectly functioning item already.
I will never understand the richer mentality of "because i can".
Extremely well done.
You have less financial restraints than others though. Between feeding myself and ongoing improvement of my car I don't have a huge budget for technology
So don't buy a new one, but people here getting mad because someone wants a new phone however often is pretty dumb.

This is a pretty silly line of thought if you just try and apply it to other things. Should people keep the same car for 40 years and never upgrade because you say so?
If someone wants to buy a new product in a line every release, why should they require your approval? Why is your opinion on this matter so vital, that you can tout it as if it's a fact that people shouldn't be allowed to spend their money as they please? If he has money, and he wants to spend it on a new phone, who cares what you think about it?

I don't disagree. Some people just want to upgrade, some people don't, some people can, some people can't. It's stupid to complain that someone who wants to upgrade every year does just that, though.

I'm the complete opposite, if I could I'd have a 50inch TV above my toilet and have 16 ferrari's with naked girls driving them.

Probably because you most likely don't have a lot of disposable income. When you stop worrying about bills and normal financial problems you put your money into other things. Like luxury goods.
And if people want to buy new luxury goods every couple years more power to them. It just means a larger used market for things that are in good condition.
Sometimes I regret I didn't get a S3 instead of the iPhone 4s, should I?
There is not much you miss out i guess
Got a iPhone 4S myself but unless you really some kind of Android-only feature i guess you should regret it :v:

Uhhh, I don't earn anywhere near what Garry does but I still do those things on that timescale.
In fact a lot of people I know do that.

Then you're pretty irresponsible with your money and could easily save quite a lot every year by minimizing such purchases.
Breaking news. GARRY IS FUCKING RICH

40 years =/= 2 years. Items have a lifespan, and i'd say most cars will server you admirably for 20 years or more, but if you use the same car for 20 years then it's perfectly fine to get a new car as you've gotten your money's worth out of the old one. You don't get your money's worth if you get a new phone every 2 years that's only SLIGHTLY different from the exact phone you have.
I'm also not saying you need approval, by all means go ahead and throw your money at things you don't need. I just bought myself a pint of ice cream that i didn't need but wanted. All i'm saying is that doing things like this is being very financially irresponsible as you're paying an obsessive amount for something marginally different.

All I see is a bunch of sheeple lined up for an ~all new~ phone release, only to be manipulated by someone slightly more intelligent into buying an equally ridiculous device.

Seriously, when was the last time you have looked at your desktop? It's exactly the same.
I'm running the stock firmware on my Galaxy S and it looks nothing like in the picture. I'm pretty sure that was from the initial release.

I'm totally upgrading to a JBmod next year.
