i dont see how theres any "diversity" in metal
You must be blind as shit. I'm far from being a metalhead and even I can see how diverse the genre is.
lol tyler the creator avatar would have been much better song if he rapped about killing people burning things and fucking school, fuckin hardcore fight the power i hate my parents too
appropriate title
Who the fuck is this guy?
That song is a satire, I dont know how that could have went over your head when the chorus is literally "kill people, burn shit, fuck school". It isnt meant to be taken seriously, and Id wager money they're just mocking something. From what I gather, OFWGKTA make music for fun. At most Tyler shoehorns some remark about all the other mainstream rappers being shit and not innovative but that's as far as it goes. They're just a group of teenagers having some fun.
I don't think it's satire, I do think it's meant to be taken "seriously" on some level, but absolutely not literally. Recklessness, pseudo-rebelliousness are common themes of youth in urban sprawls who are basically trying to have a good time. In essence, like you say, the music is for fun; not any more that - no higher meaning, no social critique, no satire.
i've heard better and more poignant criticisms of hip-hop:
It's a good song but yeah the "message" he is trying to send has been done countless times it's just that his fanbase really helped this song blow up. Oh, and a great fuckin' song for anyone looking for anymore hip hop songs right here the story and how he tells it is insane.
I don't listen to much rap, but I will say this guy is great. One of my favorites already.

The story is so fucking dark and incredible.
Holy fuck, he's scary as shit! But speaks the truth.. Kinda like Oprah :)

Been a fan of Hopsin for a good while now. Glad to see he's finally getting some attention. [editline]18th July 2012[/editline]
i've heard better and more poignant criticisms of hip-hop:
Great song. I really like this track by De La Soul from the album which kickstarted hip hop self analysis.
Holy fuck, he's scary as shit! But speaks the truth.. Kinda like Oprah :)
... What?
i cant fucking stand hopsin he's an arrogant little shit, his attitude sucks, and he's gimmicky as shit why do people like this [editline]18th July 2012[/editline] and his 'message' is so tired, its been done to fucking death
I see you're a fan of Tyler the Creator. Does some of your animosity stem from Hopsin's criticism of OFWGKTA? I think some of the shit he does like this is really original and not gimmicky whatsoever. I don't think you've listened to very much of Hopsin.
I'm amazed that this was good
I don't normally like Hopsin, but this song is pretty good.
i cant fucking stand hopsin he's an arrogant little shit, his attitude sucks, and he's gimmicky as shit why do people like this [editline]18th July 2012[/editline] and his 'message' is so tired, its been done to fucking death
Please find me a few rap songs that share the same message okay go Oh just kidding you can't.
rofl look at that guys' guages [editline]19th July 2012[/editline] dig the lyrics doe p cool. reminds me of the mixing im not super in on nor the beat itself but whatever. ill stick with mf doom B) thisispain please tell me if the music in the OP is good thx u [editline]19th July 2012[/editline]
Im probably the only who didn't like this song, or Hopsin himself for that matter, at all. This particular song panders to people who think the rap industry is dying or some shit, and that the majority of hip hop artists are just in it for the money. Regurgitating the same shit a lot of other rappers said years ago. Both B.I.G and Wu Tang had similar songs about how the industry is 'dying' and is filled with wannabe posers or whatever and each time they get massive praise for being enlightened or other such bullshit. This just reeks of pretentiousness and hypocrisy. I heard other Hopsin material and he doesn't seem that far off from the people he seems to hate. Rapping about inane nonsense and wears contacts to appear edgy and threatening. I dont fall for this "being real" shtick at all, and in my opinion it's just another way for him to appeal to the market that's tired of the mainstream stuff. If he's honest, good for him. But I doubt that.
i got this vibe as well, yeah. the message, though, ultimately, is a positive one that isn't outright stupid so it's not awful, in my eyes [editline]19th July 2012[/editline]
I don't think the main message to start out with was about the rap industry at all, but he seemed to ponder off at the end, but came back to it advertising himself. The song is mostly about teenagers of today. I loved the song, mostly because I have a brother that is exactly like the guy he was beating up on in the beginning. It's not nonsense because he was completely spot on how my brother is. There's no "being real" thing in there really except he expects the breakdown of the people who it is targeted at to listen to him more after he puts himself out as a leader. I don't know the Hospin guy much, or really care to find him out, but the song was very well made and I'd share this to people who listen to this genre and are like that so that they can see how I see them in a brutal way.
this topic really isn't a new thing; he could've made this song in 1986, the reception would be similar.
i cant fucking stand hopsin he's an arrogant little shit, his attitude sucks, and he's gimmicky as shit why do people like this [editline]18th July 2012[/editline] and his 'message' is so tired, its been done to fucking death
i mean it could be because the rappers you do listen to are pretty similar to lil wayne and you're one of the people in the video
i've heard better and more poignant criticisms of hip-hop:
LOL wow this was completely unintentional (that my second automerge mentioned MF doom and my first asked you for info on if this guy was alright or not) [editline]19th July 2012[/editline] oh and odd future sucks j/s
I really don't like Hopsin. He tries too hard to be edgy trying to draw the attention to people who thinks this sort of thing is profound. Acts like the music industry is messed up in every single thing he does, and then does nothing about it. Its just a gimmick. Ill just leave this here. Similar message from my favorite rapper.
I really like this track by De La Soul from the album which kickstarted hip hop self analysis. [editline]18th July 2012[/editline] That J Dilla
agghh de la soul they are rap scientists dude every single verse is mathematically correct
mathematically
word is bond
He's basically a mainstream rapper with underground blood, believe me, this isn't the only "real rap" this is him buying in, he's been trying for a long time, please don't think hopsin is soo greaat.
I usually don't like this sort of music at all, but that was quite good. Those contacts are pretty cool as well.
this topic really isn't a new thing; he could've made this song in 1986, the reception would be similar.
I understand. The way people act do change over time and I'm pretty sure there was always something to get out this kind of message in each decade. At least these efforts can reduce the amounts of these kinds of people, but I think the growth outweighs the fight.
Great stuff.
He is an excellent lyricist with a good message. I agree with most others in here, he truly isn't the "best rapper I've heard" there are plenty, plenty already posted, that are "better" in whatever sense you'd like that to be. Some sound is for some people and some other sounds are for others, I don't put someone down just for the sake of saying that whatever kind of tunes they like to listen to is bad. To each their own. And because it seems to be the ongoing trend in here to post an artist from their personal cupboard of their favorite cups of tea, might as well follow in suit, tie and all. The best part about this song is that I can actually hear what he's saying
I was never that big on Hopsin, but this... This is some true shit.
Sucks that all that people think of when they hear rap/hip hop is that shitty gangsta rap that america shits out, This reminds me more of the danish style of rapping from people like L.O.C. and Jokeren, their raps are dark as fuck.
