Someone do tell me; does this not violate the "no ponies" rule somehow for threads, or is there simply some stupid fucking double-standard, in which the ACTUAL rule is "no PRO-pony threads".
Down to brass tacks, if you're going to enforce this insipid fucking rule Garry, you should at least be consistent about it. Lock this thread, or abandon your rule; you can't have it both ways. And if you're going to ban me for backseat modding, I must ask you to consider what I'm saying, or risk succumbing to hypocrisy.
And as to the idiots MAKING this shit, grow the fuck up. I'm so sorry if every now and then you're forced to come across content that doesn't gel with your fake hyper-masculine sensibilities, but why the Hell does it even MATTER to you that this show exists and is popular? It's not like this is Hanna Montana, the Jonas Brothers or Justin fucking Bieber; those were icons pushed aggressively upon idiot teens and tweens, and while the company pushing them on the youth were rightly to blame, the kids themselves are more the subject of pity than anything else.
This show became popular on it's own merits, and while I agree that it's overblown and that the quality isn't SO spectacular that it's all that much better than most decent cartoon shows, the show's popularity comes from the fact that it broke the till-then unbroken rule that anything made for and directed towards young girls automatically sucked. Some of us believe this is significant, and the show's decency allows males with taste to explore a realm once denied to them by an invisible barrier of stupid writing, bland characters and garish saccharine colors.
Say what you will, but the fan-content alone is telling. The great thing about these characters and their world is that they're no strangers to mortal peril, so I've seen perfectly feasible fan-crossovers of everything from Sherlock Holmes to Portal 2 to Mass Effect, all of which somehow managed to work within the constraints of a magical world of ponies and come out smelling like a rose.
I'm aware that at the very least I'm going to receive a number of boxes from the juvenile people perusing this thread, but let me assure you that dumb-ratings mean jack-shit when they're made by patently dumb people.
Yes, it likely does violate the literal interpretation of the rule. However, the mods and admins of this site do not go by the word of the law, but the common interpretation that such threads as PONY MEGATHREAD V99 and other such places where a legitimate affection for the series exists are not to be found on this website. So no, there are no grounds to do anything.
Cry more.
how bout we all watch a good cartoon

oh wait it doesn't present a creepily idealistic world full of happiness and emotional simplicity that appeals to autistic and socially degenerate creepers nevermind
quite possible the best show to hit cartoon network, fucking ever
Because the target audience really IS fucking important. My Little Pony is a show that is centered completely around stuff that only small girls would enjoy, NOTHING about it should be interesting to an adult man. Would you say that a 50 year old man who plays with barbies is okay too?
Simkas, have you ever actually watched the show?
I take an animation class and one of the big things they teach you is to make sure what you animate will appeal to as large an audience as possible. That's why shows like Animaniacs or Freakazoid became so popular, they make sure to have a lot of jokes that not only will adults understand, but oftentimes only adults will understand. Now while it's true that the pony show is pink and pastel, and may not be as raunchy as Animaniacs, but it still has a lot of things that are funny to not only little girls, but to anybody who would watch the show.

Technically, the only reason the pony megathread hasn't come back is because the mods decided there was nothing to discuss until season 2.
Overall, I agree that the no pony rule means no ponies. For or against. It's best to avoid these shitfests where two unmovable sides keep trying to justify their opinions.
Its funny seeing the same exact people in every MLP thread bitching about the series and others defending it (poorly).
A bit obsessive, aren't we?
In the end!
MLP viewers are a-okay if they don't choose to obsess over it, shove it down everyone else's throat like depraved maniacs, and realize there's many other wonderful shows to watch out there. As for the people who voice their negative views about the show, they are fine, as well, as long as they have valid reasons for not enjoying the show, like, "it's just not my thing," or, "I watched it, and I thought it just wasn't funny." We're all different people with different preferences, and opinions, and if you're too thick to get this through your skull, then, "Oh, well."
But people who insult the audience as a whole, spewing mindless comments like, "MLP fans should go hang themselves," or, "All MLP fans are all autistics who have no friends," just make themselves look like they're insecure about their own anxieties, and are trying to compensate by feeling like they're part of a majority, following non-existant guidelines set out by their own mind. Those guys are up there with obsessors on annoyance level.
Now, lets all go back to talking about the video itself instead of arguing why, or why not MLP should be watched.
That video was beast but this thread looks like it went to hell and back.

Well he added pretty fancy music, so yeah...
I just love threads like this.
Actually, the show is written in a way so that if a child wants to watch it Parents can still enjoy it with their child. Unlike 99.9999999% of other kids shows.
All I see is a bunch of ponies screaming in a high pitched voice.

You must have watched two seconds of it... or watched none of it, because that never happens :v:
It's not about the show, it's about grown fucking men liking and obsessing over a show that's made for little girls.
who cares, let them be sperg if they want to
