It also won't detect my xbox one controller anymore.
This is very impressive.
It's disappointing that the N64 emulation scene is lagging behind as much as it is but if I remember correctly the N64 was very difficult to code for anyway.
PCSX2 devs, take note.
To be fair, most things already work on PCSX2, they've made some great improvements over the years, like in the past with I think 0.9.8 or earlier I couldn't emulate Xenosaga 1 at all, nor could I save in Persona 3 FES, sometime after with 1.0 it all worked perfectly, with hardly any frame drops.

no i'm serious, people keep saying that's more stable than project 64
Yep. Runs super.
Sadly old savegames don't work.
Might be placebo but the sound sounds a lot better to me now.

if you watched the video they say they did improve sound accuracy too

anyone know how twilight princess runs now?
there was a big issue last time i tried playing it on v4 where the major areas like hyrule field / its equivalent would be slow as shit for whatever reason, i recall it being linked to terrible cpu optimization or something
i tried all of the fixes and none worked. audio was glitchy as heck too
Know what is interesting ? With indies now releasing games with colorful PS2-era art style or games with simply mediocre graphics, the games shown in the video look pretty damn good on high resolutions.

Twilight Princess has had a 'hack' that fixes the Hyrule field slowdown. I'm pretty sure the other annoying bloom glitches have been sorted also.
I'ts been playing perfectly fine for me though I'm still just starting another playthrough. And this is pre 5.0 I'm talking about as well

The fix in question:

Go to the game's properties and tick this.

Damn, upgraded to 5.0 and all my previous saves got deleted- even the wii ones, which should have saved in a format easily compatible. Ah well, that's the price of upgrading, I suppose.
Can anyone report better performance? What about save game compability?
I'm running Melee full speed on my Intel HD 5500 laptop. Haven't tried any Wii games yet.
Maybe I can finally play Brawl/Project M without slowdown, I was always hovering around 40-50 fps.
Ooooh shiiit does this mean I could re play metroid prime games wearing my HTC Vive and having on the controllers control Samus's arm cannon?
No? This can't just magically create a new game for you.
Can I just in-place upgrade the files of 4.0-dev and keep saves for 5.0-release?
Because 4.0-dev IS 5.0-release after all
No? This can't just magically create a new game for you.
I mean, TECHNICALLY it could work- if the visuals of DolphinVR are all well and good, then making the vive controller point like a wiimote shouldn't be THAT much different. It won't be perfect, for sure, but it could be that kind of experience.

I'm pretty certain most if not all save states are incompatible between any two versions of Dolphin.
Your saves in memory cards will always be fine though.

You could have VR if you used something like Trinus VR on your phone but it won't be anywhere as good as using a real VR device
That CPU Boost feature looks amazing.
Maybe the PCSX2 devs can borrow the Dolphin devs for a little while...?
Time to revisit 007 Nightfire and Super Mario Sunshine
i wish anther's ladder would stop recommending such an old-as-fuck dolphin in their netplay guide, cause i would really like to see the performance difference in smash netplay.
that shit is almost a year old

Now that there's a new real release out rather than dev builds perhaps they will
Now that there's a new real release out rather than dev builds perhaps they will
IIRC there was a period after version 7840 where the netplay was just straight up broken for some reason.
it's surely fixed now so i'm guessing it's just laziness or 7840 is pretty much the standard now for smash netplay for many people (their guide is the most popular hit on google) and just changing the guide like that isn't going to be that simple.
Fuck I wish PCSX2 was as good as Dolphin
I remember having so many graphical glitches and all that compared to Dolphin

that's the open-source development cycle for you.
How's the Windwaker performance with a texture pack? When I was rocking an HD texture pack some time back (Which looked really nice) There would be some slow motion slow downs. Without it, everything topped out, 1080, 4x anti aliasing and all that ran it perfect

I got a similar question with the Paper Mario TTYD HD texture pack, does this update get rid of the slow downs?

The Dev has said that if he gets stuck he might consider opening it up, and he might just do it eventually.
Though, his current reasons are dumb. He says its because he feels a tight group of dedicated contributers > a horde of short-term volunteers, and he wants to avoid hacky solutions and wants things done right. But he can just ignore pull requests or only accept those that meet standards. He also doesn't want to lose control of the project and wants to prove the people who say that it's doomed if it's not open-source wrong, and those reasons are just stupid imo.
