That's because the rumor is it was originally a mobile game.
It looks like they actually listened to the feedback from the original reveal though. Which is nice
i can only see this being fun for die hard thps fans or people who want to relive their childhood

Both THPS fans and nostalgia seekers are probably just going to be angered/dissapointed by the changes.
It's going to be fun for people who are new to the series.
Skate ruined THPS for me. Even THPS2, which used to be one of my favorite games ever is hard to enjoy now.
The main problem that completely ruins the game for me is that it looks like nothing has any weight behind it, like everything is so floaty
so now it looks like it's from 2010 instead of 2007
a lot of people here seem to be forgetting how thug2 played

tony hawk classic has always been snappy and kinda rigid
that dude sucks lmao
but holy shit what a soundtrack. rock n roll high school  I'm really interested to see what they put in the new game in terms of music
AW had you, shit, I actually can't think of much memorable from that.
AW had Ben Whofleck.

I mean look at this for instance.

Things I can complain about from this one picture.
-Shitty draw distance covered up by fog that looks more like one of those polluting screenshots of China.
-The WHOLE area looks to have little/no lighting. The bright as hell skatepark with no change in tone makes it look like the whole thing isn't affected by light at all.
-Horrible Gradient on the ramps. They don't even look like they have a texture.
-on top of all that, the main theme of this map seems to be brown. Probably the worst color you could go for in a game like this.
That's just one map. I've seen ps2 games with better looking levels than this. And this is supposed to be colorful, yet every video of the game has that shitty brown filter over it.
Some of the maps seem to be unfinished for now. Like if you look 3:06 the map has an infinite abyss.
BTW, has there been any news regarding create-a-park and create-a-skater? I used to spend so much time playing around with those. Also that create your own goals thing was sick.

And that dude who blew up the subway entrance using a rocket launcher he had stashed in his briefcase.
Looking at the gameplay, it doesn't actually look that bad. The 'grounded' feature kinda threw me off at points as it made it look like you had weird gravity or something, but other than that, it plays the way I'd expect the classics to.
Unfortunately, due to my previous reasons, and how they haven't shown any other features (plus the fact that is was supposedly a mobile game before) it doesn't look like it'll turn out well.

The soundtrack wasn't bad as well.

tbh, aw was more of a different version of thug than anything. Not as good as the thug series, but not really bad by any measure.
Wait... Is this going to have always online DRM? He said that all the levels were hosted on dedicated servers, and if you want to play by yourself you gotta drop into an empty private server to play.
I really hope they get a great soundtrack. I feel like that was the biggest part of the feeling of those games for me. Still, i admit this is an improvement over what they have shown.
