I have no complete theories, just observations:
As has been pointed out, the red upright table seems in contrast to the fallen blue chair. I think his blue blanket also corresponds to his mom's yoga mat. In other videos he calls it that blue material a safety pad. When he is homeless, he is running around with a blue tarp that he calls home. In these weird later videos, he usually returns to the blue blanket and sits on it for physical and emotional comfort.
The pattern of things on the table seem to be encouraging him to do self-harm and to harm the plank of wood in some way. Wood has been associated with strength in previous videos. It is important to him that wood isn't covered up.
The table has toys at first to encourage him to play and experiment with what is there, conditioning him in a sense. The objects grow more and more deadly. Remember that "Ouch!" has practically been a catchphrase for him through the series. In video one he could get pinched at worst by the tape measure or staple his finger, in two he could shock himself with the battery and wire/metal slinky, and the later tables are obvious in presenting ways for him to harm himself. The only exception is the air pump table...I don't understand that one.
I agree with the idea that these people (whoever they are) want him to do "tutorials" of a specific kind. They obviously know about his video blog and allow him to keep the camera. They probably turn out the lights to encourage him to power on his camera. He is resisting their tutorials and is secretly asking for help through hidden messages in his news flashes. Maybe his videos are being restricted or censored in some way.
Anyway this is a fun ARG and I am fascinated by how such seemingly random pieces are becoming connected.

Really simple and obvious selection of objects, and given what happened in the video, I think they're trying to entice him to return to tutorials.
(Since he named them wrong, I guess I'll list that the objects were baking soda, vinegar, ping-pong balls and a semi-conical bottle; it's pretty clear that the intention was to make a "volcano")

Right now, some of the open questions are:
- What motive could these kidnappers possibly have with this guy?
- Even though it is filmed, could a lot of this be explained as being imaginary in some way? For example, how realistic is it that he would find a blue chair in the middle of the woods?
- What is alan's motivation for making tutorial videos at first? Does it relate to his past?
- What do the recurring symbols: blue, water, wood, knives, paint, and chairs mean?

Also, this recent video seems to emphasize that the difference between "news" and "tutorials" is a difference between the past and the present.
News has already happened. News is in the past and doesn't need to be performed. But tutorials haven't happened yet, they are happening in the present. Tutorials are things you do. Alan is trying to avoid doing things. He rationalizes this tutorial as news by claiming that it had already happened and CNN covered it before him.

It's just a bit of fun, like all ARG's.
Imagine he's looking at youtube comments and making his next videos based on people's guesses on what's going on then having a plan.

Try to see the blue chair dropped in most of the videos, this must be symbolizing some sort of fall in his life. In "disk tutorial" everything is changed, stuck in some small shipping container, covered in blood, with text all over the wall. This is the shocking point of his life.
He comments "Hey guys I'm not supost to do this thanks guys"
It looks like he is being controlled by people, tortured and beat for his wrong doings. Once again, doing a tutorial to calm down tragic events in his life. In his new setting, he is in a blank room with only a small pillow and table. This is his new "room" or solitary confinement[/QUOTE]
Honestly, I think this whole thing was originally a spoof or "I was bored so I made this" type of videos, then as he looked at the comments on each one, and as more and more people said things like "Waiting for this guy to snap, subscribed" comments, or "Is this guy a squatter or something?" he got an idea of what to do, and started rolling with it.

Considering the artist's previous works, He's probably had this weird shit planned from the start.

There might be some element of improvisation to it, but I agree that the main elements and plot arc were thought out ahead of time because so many things are kept consistent. Like the shot of wood grain at the beginning of each movie and the prevalence of blue things. The only video out of keeping with the others is the very first one where the actor doesn't seem to have the character figured out yet and doesn't introduce much to the story.
The story arc seems to be plotted around wood, though I'm not sure why or what it is supposed to mean exactly. But the transition in the [I]type[/I] of wood we see in the videos marks the transitions in his emotional state.
The types of wood so far are:
- [B]lumber/crafted wood[/B], which includes floorboards, planks, wooden dowels, his wooden desk, pencils (basically wood that has been shaped by humans with the grain still visible).
- [B]Trees[/B] When he goes primal, he lives in the forest. Obviously, this is wood in a form unshaped by man. The blue piece of furniture still haunts him in the forest though.
- [B]Drywall/painted and covered up wood[/B] - for this guy who is such a freak for woodgrain, this white room must be a kind of torture.
The change from lumber to trees was marked by the video "how to change" where he burns and hacks up something made of planks. The change from trees to drywall was marked by the "weatherize a hole" video where he puts artificial things inside a tree. He also puts a cloth (his whitey tighties) in the hole. Remember from earlier videos that layers of cloth cover up wood (at least in his understanding of things).
Now, these particular videos are important because they likely foreshadow his eventual escape from the white room:

The "reveal slats" video mirrors the situation in his chamber. He has a blue bed in both videos. He is attacking a white ceiling. Alan will escape the white room, but probably by doing something violent.
Also, just for the record, I think the werewolf theory is going way too far. It is true that he goes feral, but people are making too much out of one mention of moonlight (he doesn't say full moon) and his long nails. Some people (like the guy Blayzd quoted) are throwing around the theory that he killed someone. The only evidence they give is that he is dragging a tarp around. But watch the end of that video where he is eating garbage and you see him shake the tarp out. There's no body in there. The tarp is his "home" and he just puts random crap in it, that's all.
But I am starting to agree with the theory that he burned his house down. He was lost for a long time, true, so that counts against the theory. But it is the best way to explain how some of his personal shit is in the woods now. You can see a manga drawing and the yoga mat in a pile of junk in addition to the blue chair seen earlier. It could be that, with no other way into his locked room, he burned down the building to gather what he could of his old life.
