The pattern of things on the table seem to be encouraging him to do self-harm and to harm the plank of wood in some way. Wood has been associated with strength in previous videos. It is important to him that wood isn't covered up. The table has toys at first to encourage him to play and experiment with what is there, conditioning him in a sense. The objects grow more and more deadly. Remember that "Ouch!" has practically been a catchphrase for him through the series. In video one he could get pinched at worst by the tape measure or staple his finger, in two he could shock himself with the battery and wire/metal slinky, and the later tables are obvious in presenting ways for him to harm himself. The only exception is the air pump table...I don't understand that one.
Oh, wait, I think I got it. It's a pump, a hose, and glue. If you subscribe to the self-harm theory, I think the idea is for him to pump it down his throat and potentially seal it up.
Just an observation, his last video was the most comprehensive and straightforward "tutorial" I think I've seen him do. Although he's slipping from his news thing the explanation of opening an umbrella was really not bad.
teddy's wife is beautiful
I'm thinking that alan's kidnappers want him to eventually destroy himself with his own tutorial. This is why alan has been resisting doing tutorials. Deep down, he knows he loves tutorials. But on some level, he is aware that they are trying to destroy him with what he loves. His kidnappers have tried a number of methods to make this happen so far, but none have worked yet: they have tried to draw him in with curiosity, they have tried to break his spirit, they have tried to make him bored enough to play with just about anything and kill himself by accident, they have tried to wait him out and hope his depression makes him cut himself out of desperation. Those haven't worked, thankfully. And besides, as others have mentioned, alan isn't good at doing specific tutorials--he just makes up random crap and is terrible at it. He would probably fail in a suicide tutorial too. But now a new tactic does seem to be working. They are trying to corrupt alan with money. He is being bribed into doing very specific tutorials. And he is getting rather good at doing exactly what he sets out to do. Like Death King mentioned above, this is the first time when he did reasonably well at carrying out a specific objective. Alan's reacts with such surprise when he sees the result of his last two "news-torials" because he has never done anything successfully before. And he likes it. So if he is getting more and more successful and confident with tutorials, maybe he won't fail when the time comes to kill himself. This theory has some holes though: - It still isn't clear why alan should even care about money in the first place. - Why would his kidnappers sometimes give him a newspaper and sometimes not? - What is their motive for wanting alan to kill himself tutorial style (if that is really what they want)?
alan is an SCP
It's happening
this got depressing again

Oh jesus that new video is hilarious. But what exactly is happening? It seems that they are just bribing him now.
So now they're even incentivising tutorials. They really want him to keep doing them.
what was that picture supposed to be
what was that picture supposed to be
Pixelated tree, I'm almost sure of it.
what was that picture supposed to be
Reminded me of a medical scan of some sort but not quite.
Reminded me of a medical scan of some sort but not quite.
A pixelated MRI/CAT scan of a brain?
The bribe theory seems to be holding up! the deal with the blue chair, (My opinion) is that it represents something like his dead parents, or something… he uses it to comfort him. During his "how to pick up a blue chair off the ground" video he is crying. this could be because his parents are gone, and not coming back and he can't help that. Back to the bribe theory, we will have to wait for a few more videos before that can truly be a likely theory.
I don't think it's significant, but in his 'locked out of room' tutorial he checks his pockets and finds a five dollar bill. He says to 'save it for later, it could be useful'. With the recent thing with money in the videos I felt like this sort of fit the motif.
Oh no, those Corporate fat cats got to him. Watch him start doing news again but its extremely biased. Also, I'm suprised nobody has posted:
how exactly is this an ARG
how exactly is this an ARG
This actually. It isn't necessarily an Alternative Reality Game. It could be so many other things, He just fooling around and making a little story out of it, He is actually just doing non-sense and making people totally over-analyse it. I mean at this point there is only some things which kinda fits together. But it isn't necessarily an ARG he made.
[sp]The ending took me by surprise[/sp]
It's ultimately a loose alternate reality game but there is fan interaction, it takes place across the web, is not serial but rather ongoing. The biggest reason why this can be classified as an alternate reality game is because it is synced up with real world timing and plays itself off as not being fictional but actually taking place in reality. So yeah while it's not necessarily a "game" it is an "alternate reality". Things like this being described as ARGs are basically just common usage even if they don't perfectly describe it.
So, [sp]who else subscribed just because of what he said?[/sp]
Is he getting more jittery than before? This compared to the umbrella thing, that is.
its been 2 days what now alan what now
its been 2 days what now alan what now
I guess he didnt get those subscribers he wanted
i can't believe alan is fucking dead
Ahaha, I just now watched the one of him wandering around in the back of a moving truck trying to find something to do a tutorial with, that one was good.
Boy... It got depressing and stayed that way. My best hopes is that they didn't actually kill him, because this was a pretty sudden ending.
He got enough subscribers!
He's alive! -snip, goddamn ninjas.
