I was not expecting to see a tiny joystick for such a plane.
Well it isn't practical with a 1m tall joystick.
Although I have no experience flying airliners, I did do work experience at a flight saftey/ training center (Flight Safety International), and sat in on some of the lessons there. The main point they put across was that flying the plane was fairly easy, being that the pilot is there for the difficult maneuvers. The other main thing was that the pilot was there also if things went wrong, as most of their training was based around "What do you do if x went wrong". I had a go on one of their full sized ,full motion flight simulators, and it was actually fairly easy to fly.
They were so using the "gopro2" camera for this video. Awesomeness.
dude drives like a boss!
How in the love of shit do they fly at night?
It is actually not difficult and many airline pilots will tell you they could have you flying a plane with a couple hours of instruction
The hard part is it's expensive to get the licenses, and learning all of the laws and regulations of the air
Airbus? You mean a plane, right?
Awesome.
I uncle is a pilot for FedEx and used to be one for the Coast Guard. He makes great money and has the best stories. Like one time they were doing a burial at sea and since they never did one before he just opened a hatch and tried to dump the ashes out of the plane. It just all flew back in his face.
If my eyesight had been perfect I'd really like to become a pilot.
It's called glasses or something, helps with your vision issues and all that.
If my eyes weren't shit I would have gotten rated by now.
I've flown a single engine Cessna 172 and it is not comparable to a flight simulator. Sure, a few things helped, but in the end it's like learning how to drive by playing Forza with all assists off.
Got to fly my dad's Cessna 182 for a couple hours when were flying it from South Carolina to the local airport after buying it. Then as I was flying it over Nevada I realised the previous owners only bought GPS coverage for the Eastern U.S, freaked me out when we were supposed to be flying past an air strip and there was nothing but desert.
I might get a pilot's license this summer though, you only need to be 17 to get one.
Airline pilots are not paid enough for what they do.
This, 100%.
I have my license, but I also found out that before an airline will even spit in my direction, I need a minimum of 1000 flight hours. To acquire these, I would need to spend around 5 years flying private/bush whilst making a wage on par with a city bus driver. It also doesn't help that at the top of your game as an airline pilot, you're making only a few hundred thousand a year (yes, I say only because it's just the very few elite who get to fly the massive jets and by then you're already approaching the end of your career).
In a similar time frame, you could become a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer, etc. In order to be happy in aviation you need a thriving passion for flight as salary alone is hardly a drive.

The one thing that all pilots will tell you is that they do the job because they love it. Particularly now, being a pilot has lost the allure it had back in the 60s/70s. Pilots work long hours, have shitty pay, and do a pretty important job. All of them will tell you they fly because it's their passion.
I've been pretty lucky as far as my experience with airplanes goes. I am Brazilian and so I fly domestically in Brazil multiple times a year. When I was little I got to fly in the cockpit. They put up the spare seat, and I got to sit between the pilot and copilot of a smaller jet (I honestly couldn't tell you what it was). It was the coolest thing ever.
Next I played soccer with the son of Delta's chief manager of their entire mechanical department. He led us around the entire Delta facility in Atlanta. We spent 6 hours touring the place by ourselves because it was closed for the weekend. I got to start up the power to a 777, got to sit and move around in 10 different aircraft, and we saw them doing all the mechanical work to the engines and wings.
I love planes, I have shit vision so I'd never become a pilot for the airforce, although I seriously doubt I'd want to do that. Still, I'd probably consider joining the Brazilian airforce. My only dream now is to do flying privately. I just need the money for it, and as far as post-college profession goes money isn't really happening.
Pilots seem to be doing fine here.My friend is 24/5 and is already getting RM(Ringgit Malaysia) 20k per month
You've flown one?
I've flown several times in simulators. That shit is hard. I imagine flying a real jet is even harder.
It's called glasses or something, helps with your vision issues and all that.
You need to have naturally good vision or improve it with a laser operation. You can't become a pilot with the use of glasses.
I've got a Glider's Pilot License and I'm just as casual.
You need to have naturally good vision or improve it with a laser operation. You can't become a pilot with the use of glasses.
That depends on what you're going to fly, and I'm fairly sure a commercial pilot can.
Plus, like you said, you can always get an operation done.
which airbus is this?

that video makes me upset that passengers no longer applaud after they land
They love using that song for cool ass videos

I've been on a plane with an applause.
It was really awkward.

It is a pretty awesome song.
but landing in flight simulators is a piece of cake
The majority of sims don't have physics down pat 100%, and don't add things like wind, random turbulence, or the temperamental-ness of aircraft. It's harder than you think.

Did he crash in the sea and live on a island for four years

It's not that fucking hard to press take off, then autopilot, then land.
