I would give similar advice to Undertale fans.
whats the negative deal about Undertale anyway?
whats the negative deal about Undertale anyway?
Its popularity really. Some people can't stand it for some reason.
Its popularity really. Some people can't stand it for some reason.
Popularity naturally creates people who just reject something for that reason. There are certainly fans who are crazy as well who give off terrible impressions. It also deviates quite heavily from the norm, and for people who have trouble outside their comfort zone, the level of deviation Undertale follows is unbearable.

Not because it's a bad product, but because people won't shut the fuck up about it. It's easy to get sick of something even before you experience it.
And with that said it leads perfectly into this https://soundcloud.com/totalbiscuit/getting-the-last-word-in-on-witcher-3 basically TB probably won't play TW3 for the same reason people who are tired of hearing about Undertale won't play it.
I would much rather people circlejerk over their favorite game and keep to themselves like they do with Undertale, unlike TW3 where everyone uses it as a comparison for every single game because people think it's the perfect RPG.
I didn't realize that Duck Game was actually this popular, I thought it was just a little cult fanbase that got streamers due to it's rather silly nature.
who gives a shit about fanbases. play the games you like and ignore people you dislike. if you let shitty fanbases ruin your fun then you won't be able to enjoy anything. there were a few bad apples on facepunch when i first joined and it didn't stop me from enjoying my time on this forum. not that i post all that often, but still.
Undertale fans keep to themselves?
I never see anything about Undertale outside of Tumblr.
basically TB probably won't play TW3 for the same reason people who are tired of hearing about Undertale won't play it.
idk this whole logic of "people won't stop talking about how much they enjoy X, I better stay away from it!" just strikes me as weird lol.
who gives a shit about fanbases. play the games you like and ignore people you dislike. if you let shitty fanbases ruin your fun then you won't be able to enjoy anything.
Yeah exactly. I could care less what other people like the game I'm thinking of trying, it literally has no impact on the experience I'll be having with it. Well, unless it's an online-focused game of course.
I would much rather people circlejerk over their favorite game and keep to themselves like they do with Undertale, unlike TW3 where everyone uses it as a comparison for every single game because people think it's the perfect RPG.
Ha, Undertale fans keep it to themselves do they? Is that why I was spoiled on every plot point and half the jokes within 2 weeks of the game releasing? To the point where I was able to watch a full stream of the game and be completely unsurprised.
unless it's to piss off gamefaqs again!
oh my god what a huge shit-show this is super mario galaxy 2 VS mass effect Super mario bros VS Age of Empire Portal 2 vs Sonic like are the people who grouped these games together actually this stupid? you can't match 2 games that are in every single way different from one another with eachother oh my god, they even grouped metroid with call of duty, and the witcher 3 with 'binding of isaac' yes I'm sure earthbound and borderlands 2 have plenty of things in common. Just just dark souls and civ5 are strikingly similar I'm surprised that star wars kinect VS DOOM isn't on this
there were a few bad apples on facepunch.
only a few??????? boy you have some shockingly good standards bud
Ha, Undertale fans keep it to themselves do they? Is that why I was spoiled on every plot point and half the jokes within 2 weeks of the game releasing? I had nothing for Undertale spoiled for me.
Having situational bad experiences with people doesn't really mean anything. I had nothing for Undertale spoiled for me.
When you live in a communal complex and are constantly surrounded with 20 other guys, it's kind of hard not to have the game spoiled
When you live in a communal complex and are constantly surrounded with 20 other guys, it's kind of hard not to have the game spoiled
In a situation like that I don't think anything is safe.. letalone Undertale.
Having situational bad experiences with people doesn't really mean anything. I had nothing for Undertale spoiled for me.
Oh okay, you had nothing spoiled for you, that invalidates my complaints about the fandom spoiling it for me then.
Oh okay, you had nothing spoiled for you, that invalidates my complaints about the fandom spoiling it for me then.
You know well that is not my point. Im saying an isolated case does not represent the whole fandom.
I didn't realize that Duck Game was actually this popular, I thought it was just a little cult fanbase that got streamers due to it's rather silly nature.
Had a pretty small userbase when I played, did it blow up or something?
You know well that is not my point. Im saying an isolated case does not represent the whole fandom.
Except is wasn't an isolated case. I got details told to me by multiple people over the course of the first two weeks of the game's release, and I actively avoided Undertale stuff because I thought it looked like another generic 2D indie sidescroller.
Except is wasn't an isolated case. Tons of people I know have played through the game while I haven't and I haven't heard anything about the story from any of them. Like idk what to tell you other than to actually inform people that you don't like spoilers like I do?
It wasn't my friends, it was people on Facepunch and on a couple of other websites posting shit constantly in completely unreleated threads.
Once again I haven't witnessed this at all and I browse and post on this forum daily as well as a few others like Spriter's Resource.
aa this argument is dumb, lets move onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Once again I haven't witnessed this at all and I browse and post on this forum daily as well as a few others like Spriter's Resource.
Well good for you, it doesn't change the fact that I've had the game ruined by its shitty fans posting spoilers everywhere. I'm just glad I didn't give a fuck about the game in the first place.
I can totally see why some people hate undertale, its humor could possibly be seen as "lolsorandom," you really need a specific mindset to get invested in the characters (which is pretty necessary to enjoy the game), and the constant subversion of your expectations of game mechanics could be seen as gimmicky. That said, I disagree with all of that and I love the game personally
It's weird to see Totalbiscuit open up towards story intensive games more and more. Five years ago I doubt he would have liked Undertale but now it's at the top of his list along with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.
Too slow. Interesting list. Sad to not see MGSV but these are his picks after all.
As a long time MGS fan, I wouldn't put MGSV into 2015s top games.
I can't take him seriously anymore if he's seriously implying Dirty Bomb was the third best game of the year. It's a CoD clone with F2P moneygrubbing mechanics.
I've smoked pot, done crack, fucked hookers, injected heroin, but you know what I haven't done? Opinions.
tbh I'm actually blown away at the fact that people are taking his video as "This is game as the year" and not "This is what I enjoyed the most this year" which is literally what he said at the VERY BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO almost as if subjectively, he had the most fun with these games. "official" game awards are generally shit anyways because they're always subjective to a huge degree but act as if it's truth, and declare it as if it is. there are tons of games that get "Game of the year" that honestly objectively should never have been considered. I would trust TB and similar peoples statements of "my personal favorite" over NEWSTATION's 'GAME OF THE YEAR' awards because they're actually giving their honest truth and stating what they enjoyed, not declaring it as if somehow fact.
I don't like his list one bit.
