There's a soothing quality to them that a lot of people recognize, apparently. I've watched some interviews that David Firth has given about his work, and the most concise way that people have described that feeling is that he is able to make cartoons that reflect what our dreams are like. Everything is linear, but it doesn't make sense. And while it doesn't make sense, you get the feeling that there is something going on, that there is some sort of narrative being told. It's difficult to put into words, but his work always makes me feel both uneasy and extremely cozy.

I think the enjoyment stems from attempting to understand the meaning behind the things that happen in the videos. The creepy factor gives some enticement, and you're always at the edge of your seat, wondering what crazy-ass thing will happen next. It's like a horror movie without any jumpscares, and sometimes just the scenarios and art direction can be frightening.
David Firth is lovely in the fact that while some of his videos are completely random and nonsensical, (because they're from a dream) a large majority of them have some kind of deeper meanings behind them, which is always interesting.
Oh great this nightmare inducing shit is still going

The teeth spinning and the knife doll... feels like it doesn't fit in
I enjoy watching it from a psychologist point of view. Watching Salad Fingers was actually what initially sparked my interest in psychology as a field of study.

Why would I tell my boss about a video which will probably be lost in the void of the internet by the time I actually get out of university? Especially because it's hardly relevant to a job interview. Salad Fingers was just the initial trigger to my interest anyway, I've had plenty of reasons since then to continue my studies.
the whole scene with the doctor was fucking mental
