Eh, wasn't good, wasn't bad, but it still got a few good laughs out of me. The big problem here was that it was clearly a Family Guy episode. Though that Simpsons Movie reference near the end was great, holy shit.
I would like to see how the Simpsons team would have done it. Also I had hoped since [sp]there was the small American Dad cameo[/sp] that there'd also be a small Futurama cameo/reference, there.
better that most episodes from both sides but had this been made in both there hay day or at least Family Guy's hay ( before the Simpson's Movie. )
Attrocious
I enjoyed it, and believe people saying meh have a hard time admitting they were wrong
Basically how I felt about it too.
how is 8 average lol
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FourPointScale
lmao [sp]"its not like the internet to go crazy about something small and stupid"[/sp]
That was shit. The only part that I made an out loud sound was Stewie's prank call.
It had it's ups and downs. Mostly I laughed when Seth was making fun of his own show, and the Simpsons jokes. It was still your regular Family Guy episode though. So yeah. Meh.
It's really obvious Matt Groening had no part in writing this.
No Simpsons writers were involved in this, but from what I understand Matt Groening barely has any part in writing his own show. His official title is creative consultant or something like that. I doubt Seth Macfarlane has touched the writing of his show in years either.
too much family guy not enough simpsons
Aaaand it's been taken down.
okay, so let me elaborate on why i thought it was the least funny thing ever. actually just family guy in general, whatever, but this episode had some of this. family guy's characters have become so focused on jokes jokes JOKES that it's impossible to sympathise with them. the pacing is so fucking awful because it's just joke into joke into joke, like "look, look at me stand still for a second and a half while an unrelated joke clip plays haha." like, look at the simpsons for comparison. it may have fallen in quality over the last decade or so, but at least the characters are characters with actual motives. homer may fuck up, say stupid shit, and in general be an idiot father, but there's still an inkling of morality in him. like, remember that episode where there was a flashback where he went and bought Lisa a saxaphone despite him not knowing anything about instruments, just to make his daughter happy? or how he actually sits down and talks with his children and tries to help them? there's also another episode where marge writes some steamy erotic book about her and flanders, and homer chases down flanders and asks him how he can become a better husband, instead of beating him up. now look at peter. in practically every single episode of family guy, all he's done is blow stuff up, make moron jokes, and treat everybody like shit. since he nor his family nor anyone else in the show is a developed character, it's impossible to even CARE about what they're doing. they might have had more personality during the show's first few years, but they've now degraded into the most simplistic shit ever. that's probably why family guy isn't really talked about outside of middle school. like, why should i care about peter having his feelings hurt after something sad happens in an episode when just 12 minutes later we saw him get hurt while the same stock impact noise plays, then watch him lay facing away from the camera with his arm twisted behind his back, a pose that we've never seen in any other episodes right guys lol. even the most minor characters in the simpsons have actual characterization behind them. but with family guy, i'm convinced that they just go "okay guys, what FUNNY JOKES can we make based on this stereotype character" when "writing" characters. [editline]1st October 2014[/editline] in short: characters in the simpsons are characters, characters in family guy are punchlines
It had it's ups and downs. Mostly I laughed when Seth was making fun of his own show, and the Simpsons jokes. It was still your regular Family Guy episode though. So yeah. Meh.
You know, Seth probably had very little to do with this.
Aaaand it's been taken down.
fuck. I was watching a bit of it last night and thought "oh I'll just watch this tomorrow morning"
it was ok better than a usual episode of family guy as of recent but still it felt surprisingly less deviantart than i expected
in short: characters in the simpsons are characters, characters in family guy are punchlines
It'd be better if Mcfarlane stuck with that cavalcade thing he did a few years back, or something based on short sketches. I mean yeah it wouldn't be all that much better, but it'd be better for them to just focus on jokes rather than awkwardly trying to shoe horn in character development that ultimately doesn't matter.
That Bob's Burger cameo How rude.
and that Bob's Burgers potshot at the end [sp]"We'll just stay half an hour away from eachother" "With a pile of garbage between us"[/sp]
Anybody have a reup?
I fucking hate those 10 minute long fight scenes in family guy
in short: characters in the simpsons are characters, characters in family guy are punchlines
I though this crossover really showed how much of a dick Peter is compared to Homer tenfold. Especially the scene where [sp]Lisa gave Meg her saxophone as a gift[/sp], and Peter [sp]immediately chucked it in the fucking garbage without a second thought.[/sp] Homer can still be a pretty nice guy, but Peter is just a nuisance to himself and everybody else.
is there a reup anywhere?

Watch one of the really early episodes of Family Guy, then compare it to one that came out recently. Notice how everyone is a completely different character now compared to who they were in the earlier seasons. At first many of them were actually believable, hell, I might even go so far as to say relatable. Take Peter for example, he was dumb and inconsiderate, sure, but he was a lovable oaf. Even when he did something wrong, he wasn't just going out of his way to try to be a jackass, and he would always prove to be a pretty decent guy in the end. Compare that to now. He went from being just inconsiderate to actively trying to be a pest, and he went from just not being very sharp to being a literal fucking manchild.

I don't know which of the two categories you said that that falls under.
it's kind of fucked how meg misery she gets like shit on all the time kind of feel sorry and makes kind of depressed. at first the whole lol shut meg was funny but now its all the time.
I remember the episode where meg finally snaps and goes batshit on them all. telling them how hard she tried and how much of a mental fuckup everyone else is and causes everyone to have an emotional breakdown once they realize how much of a horrid person they really are. But of course by the end of the episode it was all back to noramal because fuck the effort of character development I mean who the fuck would be ok with that! who the heck would go "Wow i made my parents cry ..better go back to them beating me and telling me i should kill myself so everythings ok again" NOBODY would fucking do that I honestly want a real episode where she either tells them to fuck themselves and actually means it or just says fuck it ..leaves...finds a great job..finds a great guy..gets married..has kids that are way smarter than the whole family put together and just rub it in they're faces for kicks
It was just boring. I had to stop at the fight scene, I just couldn't watch it, it was so dull.
But of course by the end of the episode it was all back to noramal because fuck the effort of character development
this is what every cartoon sitcom in the universe does
