Kinda. It depends where you live.
They're not known to bother people much in the city. They just chill in the parks and mind their own.
In the country, however, they make homes out of peoples attics and then you consider them vermin.

If anyone's thinking about going to Yosemite, go hike to the top of vernon falls.

There are literally hundreds of squirrels there, they aren't afraid to come up to you, eat food etc.

You're not supposed to feed them but it's totally worth it :/
