honestly that was only 1080. 200+ frames isn't that hard even on a 980 or 980ti. Am I missing something here?
And Metroid was released 7 years before DOOM. Keycards, and other sequence breaks are extremely terrible game design and was removed once games were technically longer than 30 minutes to beat if you perfected it and remembered where to exactly go.
Keycards can make a good level even better if the designer makes good use of it. I wanna know what shitty maps you've been playing that give you such a negative opinion of them.
With the way some people seem to think, is this why more AAA developers are going open world? It seems more map = more play time and value versus good level and game design. [editline]9th May 2016[/editline] Even then, imo, the "key card" of today seems to be g"o to this map maker, do this, rinse and repeat." In terms of lengthening the game. I'm not saying it's bad though, it's just that developers get lazy with it sometimes.
the lack of music makes it not feel like doom. the environment feels like generic future space station #6472-b, looks too clean well-lit and shiny, which doesn't feel like doom. enemy placement and level design doesn't look doom-y. just cuz it looks fast and has blood n guts doesn't make it doom.
But you can clearly hear the music, it's just quiet because the footage isn't a direct stream it's on some dudes camera.
What's up with the guy playing's hand? Looks like his keyboard hand is shaking a lot. Maybe he has a condition or something?

It happens to me too, I start to shake a bit and can barely talk. It's not unconformable panic or something, more like over-excitement.
I'm kinda on the fence about the level design seeing as they're going for an arena style combat like in Painkiller or the new Shadow Warrior, but as long as the combat itself is good I'm okay with it. Doom 1 and 2 and all of the maps for it will always have a stronger level design though.
I think that's why I'm on the fence about the game in general. Singleplayer id Shooters for me have been about going from point-a to point-b in what's essentially a maze while gunning down everything trying to stop you from reaching the exit. Basically first person Gauntlet. I'm not really interested when you are forced to fight X amount of waves to unlock the next room where you fight another X amount of waves, etc until you reach the exit. That said Doom 4 still is going to be decent, and I'll probably get it for SnapMap.
game looks decently fast, shame multiplayer was neutered lol
I'm not gonna say the game doesn't look awesome, because it does, but I can't be the only one who feels a little sad that this is so far off from Doom 3 [editline]9th May 2016[/editline] Although if they made another Doom 3-esque Doom I'd probably feel a lot less inclined to buy it
This actually makes the game look really fun. I watched some of the multiplayer footage, and it really deterred me from wanting this game. This singleplayer footage looks really good, though. Not just the speed, but the use of the environment and freedom of movement is incredible. Adds a whole new layer of pace that wasn't in Doom 1 or 2.

Most people chun it away and say its a travesty and that it shouldn't hold Doom's name, but I see it as a different take on the game. This seems like a combination of both, with a bit of RAGE included. I barely see Doom3 at all in it, but I see a good bit of RAGE for some reason...
You know, the funny thing is that with all this discussion of how controllers are bad for playing video games, Doom originally had you only using the keyboard to aim, which was an even worse method then controller aiming.

It was just fine. Controllers are just plain shit in every possible way for any kind of first person game with more advanced movement than that, basically.
The game looks great to me, I only really care about single-player. Anyways, I have never ever played Doom for the multiplayer other than some co-op with friends.

What's the point? [editline]11th May 2016[/editline] you can cut dark souls 1's entire playtime by about 99% if you perfect the game. Doesn't make it a bad game, and it doesn't make DOOM or Metroid a terrible game either if it can be beaten in very short time by memory. it'll go from a game that takes 100+ hours to beat if you explore vigorously to something that can be beaten in an hour or less and that's an open world game. Smaller games take significantly less time.
Higher quality footage:
You cannot ask for faster than that. It's soo fast, and yet so pretty. And the guns make me moist. Is the field of view working correctly though? I mean, it probably is, but it looks off, like as if you're looking through magnifying glass or something.
Higher quality footage:
I know what I'm buying tomorrow.

Who exactly are you to say what doom is?
Too bad I'll be working through the entire weekend. I didn't have high hopes for Doom 4 but this looked pretty fucking rad. Totally needs a mod where Doomguy talks to himself, Doom Comic-style, though.
