It would be hilariously ironic if the console versions of Skyrim ran smoother than the PC version.
The funny thing is people are probably going to easily achieve that sort of thing with GTA IV.

Hopefully PS3 emulation will reach Dolphin levels where the games can run better than the original because some games (like this one) could use a performance boost in general.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is also pretty badly tuned, I remember sometimes experiencing horrible frame drops in it.
Pretty amazing considering how even today people think the Cell processor is over-engineered. That said, what are the chances of a Xbox 360 emulator?
Not exactly that it's over-engineered, but that it didn't belong in a gaming console/consumer PC. The cell is still used for science because that's what it was good for.
It was actually still pretty good for gaming if people developed for it but if it's not portable companies won't bother, which is why you saw mostly just saw Sony first parties blowing the Xbox 360 away while most companies just kind of had similar or slightly worse performance.
if this actually get even more support I should try looking into a blu-ray player for my pc to use ps3 disc but those are fucking expensive

there not bad nowadays, iirc i paid about 200 for my bluray/hddvd combo drive
Don't know about hddvd, but you can find blu-ray burners for 70-80€ now.
red dead redemption?

If you want to emulate the worst version of RDR, then the PS3 version is the way to go!
Seriously, PS3 version of RDR suffers from a lot of bugs, some that make the game require a restart so that way you can continue on normally.
But IIRC, ps3 emu is way ahead of 360. So if you wanted to, I guess the ps3 version is the only version you can do on PC atm, if you have the software.

I know it is anecdotal, but I played through RDR on the PS3 and never encountered any bugs that I can recall. At the same time I'm used to New Vegas where everything is a bug so I might be numbed to most bugs.

Not there yet, but it's getting there. Just two weeks ago best you would get is one single blue frame in-game and an instant crash, now you can actually walk around at butter smooth 30 FPM.
Jump to 1:10.

Have you actually played it recently?
I ran it last year and encountered no issues besides maybe dropping shadows down a level. Release was a shitshow but either modern hardware or patches have helped performance since those days.

That's the problem with GTAIV, it's hit & miss.
I had to use a specific driver and DirectX version for it to cooperate on my old hardware.
It's like they only tested the game on a narrow selection of hardware before releasing, and even then using the same hardware to test patches released following.
GTA 4's performance is really weird on PC. I tested the game at 1440p and 5k with all the other graphical settings intact, and got basically the same performance with my GTX 1070 and i5-4670. I still had drops to 40 fps, by the way. It would make sense if it would be CPU intensive areas, like traffic blocks or something, but the drops didn't seem to make any sense at all.
Wait really?
In nearly four rereleases of Snake Eater, the main theme is SIGNIFICANTLY OUT OF SYNC and Konami has never bothered to fix it.

Huh. I never even noticed.
Kinda crazy there's a decent PS3 emulator out there whilst OG XBOX still doesn't have one.

It does. It's called XQEMU, and so far it's making a lot of progress. It might not be finished for a while, but it seems to be moving forward at breakneck speeds.

This is the only reason im hella keen for this to get updates, that game is a gem.

excited for this, I haven't played any OF Xbox exclusives in years
Pretty amazing considering how even today people think the Cell processor is over-engineered. That said, what are the chances of a Xbox 360 emulator?
Well it is a pretty over-engineered architecture to be honest, and a super weird pick for a video games console. But Sony kinda wanted to show it off so whatever. The oddities of the Cell BE are probably what's driving emu development for the PS3 over the 360. Learning how it works and how to emulate parts of it must be really interesting compared to yet another PPC chip.
They are making surprisingly good progress, especially since Vulkan hit the world. Being able to properly thread rendering probably helps significantly as you'd want as few bottlenecks as possible for things like the recompiler and junk. I can't see us getting MGS4 playable for a very long time, and I do question whether it'd work better than the PS3 version itself. But it'd be neat to try and get it running at a good resolution at the very least!
Red Dead Redemption is getting nice progress.

Lot of people are voting this funny, but considering how RDR is one of the most difficult PS3 games to emulate atm this is a big step forward for PS3 emulation overall.
